So I'm thinking about signing up for this Legionnaires thing, right?
And the last thing I want is for my character to end up like any of the other ones that've been posted, or that are usually posted in RPG's (especially since this one is being so loose with it's standards). I decided pretty quickly that I wanted my character to be relatively humorous, since trying to make him dark or edgy is both sorely overdone and very hard to do well.
But when I got started writing a signup, I was still completely blank on good ideas. I guess this is because creating a nonsensical character just to contrast all the stereotypical ones is a bit cliche in and of itself.
So I think what I'll do is to have a relatively normal character, but in relatively humorous circumstances. Specifically, he'll have done something which both resulted in his superpower(s) and somehow pissed off the Greek gods. So now, his life is constant agony because the gods have taken to hindering him and aggravating him at every chance. So for a normal, non-superhero example, he might be walking down the sidewalk, and as a car comes by, Poseidon would adjust a puddle of water in the street so that it would splash him right in the groin.
Of course, I can't make my posts just a big series of jokes, because it is a relatively serious RPG (and that'd get old quickly, anyway). So when things get tough, I'm thinking the gods may take a little pity and relent for a while. Perhaps they'll even give him a little assistance, who knows? I'll just have to keep things balanced.
Anyway, assuming I don't change my mind on that idea (I'm just sort of jotting it down for now) or decide not to sign up at all, I'll still have to think of a superpower.
