Troublesome virus is troublesome
Man... I've become the sort of "Dr. Virus Deathdealer" or something at the office. It would be great if that was my "real" job - you know, doing technical computer maintenance and all that stuff, except it's not. I only do it to save my own computer from being infected, and sending the bug home to my outdated virus definition computer...
So, yeah...
We don't have a computer technician over here, or a computer expert to deal with those stuff, so as soon as everyone heard that a virus is lurking in their PC's which I found... they came flocking... O_O
Also, I'm dealing with a tough virus that's lodged in a friend's PC... W32.downadup.B. Pesky thing... hopefully I'll be able to get rid of it. It lowers the security of a PC exposing it to other threats. It is being detected, but can't be cleaned... *sigh*
I got new weapons today, so I'll be going back to deal with it... hopefully. If you use removable devices, like USB Flash drives - be careful about autoplay... That's the common stuff that infects those devices, and some are easy to clean while some are a big nuisance...
Wish me luck.

Let's type up an update
Hello everyone... I know it's been a while, but I had been busy...
What's going on around here? I'm starting to feel the weariness of always waking up early in the morning and traveling to work for more than an hour, through bumpy and dusty roads, and arrive, either just in time, or a few minutes late (sometimes). Lately, though, I seem to arrive fifteen minutes earlier... Man, if I can only get a good paying job in the city once more... Imagine what I can do instead of being awake and traveling to the office... Here's a nifty idea - I could still be sleeping! =_=
Anyway, if some of you have noticed, I had submitted some stuff to toss in my portfolio. I made a wallpaper and a fan-art. I almost included the e-card of Join Team Dai-Gurren, but I remembered that I already included that in the last post... Here are the thumbnails. So, if you have the time, you can drop over there and have a look. I'd appreciate it very much. ^^

Well, that's all for now, see you around! ^^

Since a lot have asked...
What is the Graphic Worm?
It's like a graphic artist's project at the Otaku Boards...
http://www.otakuboards.com/graphicworm/
(Warning: Image heavy)
Here is the explanation from the Graphic Worm Thread:
The Graphic Worm is basically one continuous Worm consisting out of all kinds of separate graphic pieces. The size of the Worm only depends on just how far we get by the end of the year. The way the worm works is this: in order, members create graphic pieces of 600×450 pixels (width×height). Because of the Worm being a continuous horizontal graphic, the artists will have to juxtapose their piece (its left side) next to the last artist’s piece in such a manner that it fits like a charm.
Got it? Good... ^^

Things are looking good... ^^
So, last week was alright... I know I have not greeted for I have not posted, so belated valentine's to all.
Today was fun. I got lots of stuff accomplished.
First, I submitted a new Graphic Worm entry. There were lots of submissions in the weekend, too!
Here is the thumbnail:
I had fun making this... XD
And in connection with that, I also got to make a card - more like a recruitment card, but it was the first thing that came in my head. Here is the link.
And speaking of links, while I was browsing through Ryo's World, this Ad link caught my eye...
At first I thought someone had a same concept as mine, then, I checked the link and saw that it was my established world! Darn, I should make another review in there... or something.
To the kind member who's spreading the love, thanks! ^^
I continued playing Legend of Zelda: A link to the past (GBA Version). I have stopped months ago, I can't even remember when, before I acquired the first medallion. I even got lost in the middle of my game yesterday... I was very tempted to look up a walkthrough for I was very much stuck. I kept going in circles. Good thing I was randomly discovering holes that could be bombed, and also earned lots of rupees. Then I noticed something - which was right in front of me, and finally got to continue the game.
Well, that's all for now.
See you around! ^^

Giga Drill? O_O
I went to the dentist yesterday...
It was because my wisdom tooth (yes, I am wise... XD) - well, more like the gum around one was swollen, and when I looked in the mirror, the teeth seemed like it was growing in a weird direction...
Anyway, good thing when I consulted my dentist, she said that it's fine and normal. While there, I took the chance to get my teeth cleaned.
So yeah, my teeth got prodded, cleaned, picked, scrubbed and probably installed with a new air conditioning system or something... XD
She noted that some dental carries were starting in a tooth, and I got a small cavity that needs to be patched up on my next visit. Yay?
Yeah, good thing I did not get the drill treatment - yet... Maybe by the end of the month or next month.
Yeah - dentist + Giga Drill = Scary.

What a day...
Hello everyone.
It has been both a mixture of an exhausting and yet somewhat productive day...
Morning had been very troublesome. The printer kept failing on me - wasting both my time and paper... At least I was able to print the needed stuff that I had to submit, and I was not very late for the first class in the afternoon... I arrived just in time as the reporter for the day started.
Also, I was able to watch how a title defense for a thesis is done. It does not seem too tough. It's not much of a defense - but you have to convince the panel that your title is worth researching. If that's done, your problem will be given some constructive suggestions. It was too long. I only stayed for an hour and a half - and they have not finished chapter 1... I dread that I too would experience this, and I hope that I know my research well enough to tell others that it is worth doing... Heck, I can't even convince myself now that it is so...XD
Well... that's all for now. See you around!

What? It’s Friday already?
Man, I can’t believe the week is going by so fast… and I haven’t finished work that I need to have on Saturday… XD
It has been one helluva week… Problems at work, plus some other personal issues. Well, most are resolved now – but work is still being a pain.
I’m very thankful that the chat is there to release some stress.
Most of you know that I hang around the chat during “short” breaks. I would come and speak when I am not doing much, or taking a short break from work… I am most attentive during lunch break. After I ate, of course…^_^
Recently, though, I have been finding the chat disconnected… Guess work have distracted me too much.
Note: Canadian members are fun to have around at chat. They’re a riot. ^_^
Adam had a little “trial” for being a hooligan, with Anomaly and Kastom with Pleiades Rising, being in Prosecution and Defense respectively. Too bad the case was dismissed by the judge (Beth) due to, uh, violence from Prosecution… XD
I almost got pulled in the event, being convinced by Adam to be a character witness, but since I was too distracted, plus I don’t want to be grilled by “lawyers”, I declined his offer.
It ended with Anomaly threatening Kastom – since she now knows what Hotel he is staying in Vancouver, and we were all talking about how Kastom might end up as being only a pair of sneakers and feet washed up on Vancouver shores… It was insane. Sorry, no chatlogs from my part. I was disconnected countless times, plus the ordeal was too long. Any edited version of the log might leave those not present wondering what happened…
Well, that’s all for now. See you around!

Weekend update: Exhausted.
Hello everyone… Man it has been one tiring weekend…
We had to submit our thesis proposal draft on Saturday. However, since I was not able to finish organizing my researched literatures, I worked on it all night on the Friday… I ended up working until 2 in the morning, and waking up at 8 the next day to continue the work. My eyes hurt and I was terribly sleepy…
We also had an essay exam on another subject… It was more of an opinion-type, though I am not so sure what I had written there… Also, some stuff that I wrote in the research proposal was found to be inconsistent with my topic… What can you expect from a sleepy man, eh? XD
February 1, I discovered a nifty event going on in our plaza… A string ensemble was playing. So I took a look and to see what it was all about. It turns out to be the opening ceremonies for the month-long celebration of the Province for the National Arts Month. I was not able to listen to the orchestra for long because they had just finished playing their piece… Darn… What followed next were a series of interpretative dances from different groups from universities in the city. I’m not too fond of watching them, but since I was curious as to what will come next, I ended up watching three or four of them perform. When I got tired, I left. Moments after I had left, a fireworks display lit up the night sky… However, since I was a bit far from the venue, all I could see were the big fireballs… Bummer. If I had only stayed a bit longer and endured the torture of the interpretative dances… =_=
Oh, Sunday afternoon report went well. :D I managed to make our little class listen to me for a few minutes.
Well, I have regained some of my lost sleep, though I am still feeling tired… I am a bit relieved that I had unloaded some school stuff.
See you around!

Now I can go back to working on my research...

Oh, really now?
[/sarcasm]
Before I go off and rant about something, a little backgrounder...
Our company's billing system runs on Java Script Pages. It's sort of a locally hosted website made to process bills. However, since the contract for its maintenance was long over, and the people running the department have no idea how to program, or at least do a decent Database extraction using SQL, any "other" data that we request from them cannot be produced.
In short - if the report that is needed now was not foreseen when the program was created, you have no choice but to build it from scratch. A very tedious and annoying task, specially if you know that the data that you need is just sitting there waiting to be extracted...
Now, my department needed some data from the monthly bills they generate to work more efficiently. I have an idea on how to make use of that data without any additional program... so I decided to study how the JSP connects to the database. If I figure that out, I can simply run the SQL and extract what I need.
So I went and copied the entire "site" and studied how it ticks. After a few days of tracing code, I got none. I am more familiar with PHP than JSP, so no dice.
Just this morning, I heard that an area office got complaints regarding their bills. I also heard that they are sort of blaming me, for I might have "done something to mess with the program."
There are a lot of points against that...
First, I never did any altering. The only file I manipulated was a new file I made as a test to make sure that I got the right directory... then I promptly deleted.
Second, I concentrated my efforts in the report generating section, and not in any more parts - not specially the billing section.
Third, I made a duplicate of the entire system, placed it in another computer and studied the rest in there.
Bunch of freaking idiots. They just thought, "hey, that guy was messing around with the server, it's his fault!"
Good thing I have also heard that this "billing problem" have also occurred a few months back.
So...
"TAKE THAT!"
