Yesterday a close friend of mine graduated and I was tasked to be the camera man. I haven't handled a videocam before so I was a bit hesitant, but accepted the task anyway.

It's a good thing that when I was in college I worked as a writer for Audio-Visual Presentations in this company, so I have some idea with regards to basic cinematography.

Ah, thank goodness today's stuff are very user friendly, so despite the fact that nobody taught me how to use the camera, I was able to pull it off nicely, except for a few errors. But it was cool.

The shots were good, except for some. But it wasn't mostly my fault - the subject wasn't very cooperative. hehehe... for crying out loud, listen to the "director" people. ^_^

It's tough covering a live event, rather than a directed one like in film. You have to anticipate a lot of stuff. So there I was, running around the place so I could get a good angle, and a good position. My legs hurt from all the standing and running around. At least I was able to document the whole 2-3 hour event and compress it to some 3-4 minute video focusing only on the major event and of course, my subject.

Overall grade on my short graduation film: passed.
