Reconnecting Two Otakus
Because of the V V upgrade, MyOtaku (MyO) has been separated from its brother, TheOtaku.

I have been really bothered by this since it has literally split the community in two. Although the damage has already been done, I have some ideas which might help the two brother sites find each other once more…

My concept revolves around the concept that MyOtaku will be exclusive to old Members, and Worlds to everyone. That way, it will distinguish those who have stuck for so long, from the rest of the World.

MyO-TheO Reconnection Plans:

1. Place a MyO Link in the Portfolio, only available to old users with MyO site, below Worlds
2. Transfer a “Friends list” in TheO backroom, maybe before Category Subscriptions. It could be titled, MyOtaku Subscriptions, or MyOtaku Friends. This will show updates made in MyOtaku.
3. TheO users must be able to comment in MyO as well, even though they have no account there.
4. MyO users should still be able to customize their sites to the fullest.
5. Comments for MyO is preferred in the “Pop-up” version, though the design can be similar to TheO comment layout.
6. It is doubtful whether TheO BB scripts can be used for MyO.
7. Posting for MyO will still be done in MyO backroom-which allows html/css.
8. Retain the old MyO backroom, add a Members List for MyO, listing recent updates.
9. Upgrades for MyO with TheO technology can be limited to the color schemes, new layout, transparent tables, new emoticons, most BB scripts… However, HTML will still be allowed. It’s the least that can be done to old MyO members who love the customization and personalization thing. Should the upgrade result to temporary demolished pages, notice should be made to all MyO members, so they could, at least, back-up their current settings.
10. Have I mentioned that MyO is preferred from Worlds because of the customization?

Well, those are just my ideas… A lot depends upon the ability of the front-end and back-end programmers, as well as if this entire thing is possible, anyway.

I know, I lack a lot of ideas in some aspects, but if I could shed some light in this matter, maybe giving our technical crew a little idea to work on, maybe that will keep the ball rolling.

What do you think?
