Obligatory Attendance
I am not much of a fan of obligatory attendance on school activities.
Last Saturday, class schedules got messed up because later that night, the faculty and the grad school students will have their Christmas Party. Wait, it's supposed to be "our" party, though I feel it's more of a faculty and student council party and they decided to drag the students along to share the expenses...
Anyway, as I was saying, the classes got rescheduled to what was normally a 3-hour class to a 2-hour thing. It would have been alright, except the Saturdays was compressed more to the morning, and the Sunday compressed more to the afternoon, to allow students more time to prepare for the party...
There's a catch, though - it was announced the day before.
Yeah, I arrived at 1PM (30 minutes late) to see that announcement posted on the Boards, and I literally went 'WTF?' in my head. Instead of being 30 mins late, I was an hour late. What should have started at 12:30 and ended at 3:00 started at 11:00 and will end at 2:00, and so on.
After some worried investigating, I found out that most students did not get the memo. My class ended up having no one attending. Hurray...
I did not attend the party. I heard that only a handful of students attended - almost the same number as the faculty. If they end up collecting the contribution for those who also did not attend... I'll probably be shouting 'OBJECTION!' at them or something. It was not something the entire student body agreed on, and the attendance showed their opinion on the subject.
Yeah... fun times, eh?
