   ANY ENDING WILL DO

My girlfriend read me another one of her stories today.They are so aweful. They're so morbid. This is the one where I kill myself for her love. Right away. She wishes. "What do you think of the symbolism?" she asked me. I looked at her and wanted to step on her face. But no. I smiled and said, "It's beautiful." That's what she wanted to hear. "Thank you, Lin." she said. Of course, short stories aren't her strong point.No, her strong point is poetry. Yes indeedy do. Her poetry sounds like this: Lin, When I look at you, My heart goes ping. I hear birds sing. You make the earth spin around If you were a dog, I'd save you from the pound. You're not like those other pigs. For them, I don't give two figs. Fabulous, huh? And the sad part is.....she's not joking. Of course, I told her I loved it. I told her, "I'd like to see some more of your work." What I'd really like to see is her impaled on a long pointed object,a spear perhaps. Killed by the natives. I think she knows she's starting to annoy me. She said, "Lin, what's the matter. You're so quiet lately. Did I do anything?" I can't stand the demands she makes on me. She wants me to be emotional about her. She wants me to admire her wonderous talents. She's strangling me and I won't dump her because she once told me she'd kill herself if I did. She would, too. Oh, not because her heart's broken, but because it's the dramatic thing to do. I hate her. I hate her and her silly stories and her poetry and how she says she loves me. She doesn't. She wants to consume me. Eat me alive. I'd like to write my own short story. That way I could invent my own ending. A happy ending. But, at this point, I'll settle for just an ending. At, this point, any ending will do........ ~Lin~
