Kami
I bet you were wondering when we'd get to Kami.
I'm not a huge Malice Mizer fan, but I'll try to make this good.
Malice Mizer was formed in August of 1992. During the years they were together, they became some of the most influencial musicians of the visual kei scene. They were just as famous for their music as for their image, which (depending on who you'd ask) might be considered anywhere from beautiful to freakish.
In December of 2001, the band announced that they'd go on hiatus. I think it's safe to say, though, that they'll most likely never reform.
Kami joined Malice Mizer in 1994. The drummer before him, Gaz, left to join Kneuklid Romance, Kami's previous band.
After a year of inactivity due to vocalist's, Tetsu's, leave, Gackt joined as the new vocalist. I'd imagine most people here know who Gackt is.
During the Gackt era, Malice Mizer abandoned their older gothic look for a more historic and colorful appearance. The band incorporated many classical, and French elements into their music.
In 1997 they were signed to a major record label.
Gackt left the band in 1999 to be the solo musician he is today. Malice Mizer went back to their previous record label, and only a few months later tragedy struck the band.
Drummer Kami, died of a subarachnoid hemorrhage.
The band released the song's he left behind as part of the mini-album/video boxset, Shinwa.
Kami was never replaced. From that point on, the band only used support drummers, none of them permanent.
In 2000, they released their last album Bara no seidô, followed by an extremely elaborate and dramatic live show.
Klaha was the new vocalist, and they were no longer the poppish group they were with Gackt. They were heavily influenced by classical and heavy metal, and they went back to their gothic attire.
They starred in a feature length vampire movie in 2001 called Bara no konrei ~Mayonaka ni kawashita yakusoku~, and released three more singles before announcing their disbandment.
~Credits to Wikipedia.
Seeing as school is starting soon, I don't know how much time I'll have for this. So forgive me if updates are lacking.
~Camille
