   UIL Meet

Yesterday I had a UIL meet and I was very excited. In Science (Yes I'm a dork), I placed 7th out of some hundred and they showed my name ranked among the top ten in big bold text. My UIl coach and I thought that would get a ribbon but then we found out that they only award ribbons to first through sixth. Why would they bother to put my name up at all if they weren't going to reward me? Oh well, life's not always fair.

   Miss America...

Recently, I've acquired a new nickname. "Miss America", of all things and the reason for it makes me twitch. I've just moved back to my old school district and the kids think I'm from Saturn or something. "Where are you from?", they ask. Politely, I say, "Columbus." Their reactions never cease to amaze me. "OHIO?!" Of course, I'm not from Ohio, but the apparently, that's the only Columbus they've heard of. When I tell them Columbus is in East Texas they wonder if there even is an East Texas.
