First off, thanks for being patient, seconf of all PARTY TIME!!! First we have a few character profiles, next we have random vids., fianlly a few random things thrown in for fun!

Character Description:Nami was a girl whose childhood is filled with dark memories of pirate pillage and plunder. She, along with an older girl named Nojiko, were raised by a female former Marine named Belle-Mère (or Bellemare) until the village where they were living (Cocoyashi Village) was ravaged by Merman pirates led by Arlong. Arlong made each adult pay 100,000 berries and each child pay 50,000 berries. In Nami's family there were three people, Bellemere had to pay 100,000, and Nami and Nojiko had to pay 50,000 each bringing the total to 200,000 berries. Belle-Mère paid for the children, but didn't have enough left over for herself, and was thus killed.

Arlong then forced Nami to work for him when her natural talent for cartography was discovered. Therefore, Nami made a deal with Arlong: She'll help him only if she can buy Cocoyashi Village from him. Arlong agreed and made Nami a member of his crew. She carried the mark of Arlong's crew on her right shoulder (normally covered by her shirt) to seal the deal. For the next 18 years, she sought out filthy, greedy pirates and took their ill-gotten loot and buried it at her hometown until she had the amount needed.

But when she met Luffy, he and others proved to be her lone exception, simply because they weren't typical pirates. She and Luffy briefly crossed paths several times while Nami in the middle of her capers, but it isn't until their coincidental encounter with Buggy that they formally introduced themselves. It's also when Nami discovers just how different Luffy is, and not simply because he's a rubber man. For one thing, he seemed to have a purpose in life other than to steal and rob. He had a definite sense of honor and courage...and he actually saved her life. Grudgingly, she agreed to a loose alliance (as she put it) with Luffy's crew and to supply her much-needed navigation skills in Luffy's quest for the Grand Line. Besides, it'll do two other things for her. First, traveling will give her more chances to make more maps. Second, she'll probably run into more pirates and more loot to steal.She later ditched Luffy and gang once she had the amount needed, but she was devastated after she learned Arlong had no reason to keep his word when he revealed the location of her loot to corrupt Naval officer Nezumi. But Luffy and the other helped liberate Cocoyashi and Nami rejoins the gang for the long run. Though Nami prefers to use her wits and stealth to steal her way to the top, she isn't defenseless physically. She carries a staff that's normally strapped to her leg in three pieces. When she needs it, she can whip it out and snap it back together.

Nami lived in Kokoyashi Village.

Character Description:Sanji is a sympathetic cook. He used to work in the restaurant Baratie (in the middle of the East Blue sea) before Luffy asked him to join their pirate adventures. Now Sanji is a part of their crew.

He was raised by a captain pirate called Red-Legged Zeff. When Sanji was 10, he and Zeff were deserted on a small island, forcing them to live for three months without any food supplies (Zeff's ship was destroyed by a huge storm at night). In the first minute they were deserted, Zeff gave little Sanji some food. But Zeff also had a big sack with him that he brought to the other side of the island. Sanji accused him of being greedy, of taking all the food for himself.

They waited for help to come, but none came to rescue them. After three months of starvation, Sanji (who was mad and planned to take food from Zeff) went to the other side of the island to see how Zeff was doing. Surprisingly, Zeff was skinny, and looked hungry. What surprised Sanji more, at least in the manga, was that Zeff lost his right leg!! Sanji cried in frustration, "You... you ate your own leg!!?"

However, in both the Japanese and English version of the anime, Zeff hadn't eaten his leg. Zeff actually lost his leg in an accident, when a tidal wave knocked two ships together and his leg got caught. Desperately wanting to save Sanji, he saw an anchor sinking and quickly grabbed it and wrapped it around his leg. The anchor knocked the boats together and freed him, cutting off his leg in the process.

Anyway, then Sanji checked the big sack Zeff had with him. It was filled with gold!! No food, no drink - Sanji was shocked at the fact that Zeff gave him all the food they had instead of keeping it for himself. Zeff told him he did that because they had the same dream: to find Great Blue (a legendary sea). Since that day, Sanji worked for Zeff in the restaurant Baratie as vice-chef.

Sanji likes girls- especially Nami. He protects Nami's tangerine garden on the ship and never lets anyone touch it. He often calls Nami "Nami-swan".

Sanji was born on Uo Island.
Well, Sanji is the cook of the ship Baratie. He loves to kick (because he's a cook and doesn't want to mess up his hands), and he has quite a few techniques. For example, he has one called the Jyare. In this technique he does an upwards kick to the opponent's shank which usually follows the Cuisseau. The Cuisseau is a kick to the thigh. Cuisseau is a french word that indicates a part of calf. Sanji uses words of the French kitchen for his attack Sanji started cooking at a young age and was very good at it.

He finds different and odd nicknames for his teammates. For example, he calls Nami "Nami San". He also tends to smoke a lot and is rarely seen without a cigarette hanging from his mouth (in the US version, this was changed to a lollipop). Oh, and he also has the power to destroy 21 baseball bats with one kick. He also loves young women.

Character Description:Luffy is a young boy who wishes to become a pirate. Luffy greatly admires Shanks, the leader of a gang of pirates staying in his town, but one day he accidentally eats their spoil of battle, a "Devil Fruit". The fruit's effect made it so that Luffy could never swim for the rest of his entire life, but his body also obtained the mysterious power to move like it was rubber! However, immediately after that, he angered Shanks' enemies, the bandits, and was tossed into the water in the middle of the sea. As he was drowning a monster attacked Luffy, but in a split-second Shanks was there to save him! Ten years later, using Shanks' straw hat as his trademark, Luffy set out for sea. His great journey to become a pirate had begun.

Searching for companions, the exultant Luffy has set off towards the "Grand Line" with his first crew mate, "Pirate Hunter Zoro". But, along the way, they became involved in a fight between the Buggy pirate crew and Nami, the Pirate Thief. Luffy, who realizes that Nami has excellent navigation skills and knows that Buggy holds a map to the Grand Line, decides to face off against the Buggy crew! After defeating the Buggy crew's second-in-command and chief of staff, he and Zoro finally face off against Buggy! But Buggy also has Devil Fruit powers, and he seems to have known Shanks....

Luffy is a bit more vulgar in the Japanese version than he is in the English dub. Also, he only lets certain people touch or even wear his straw hat. So far he has allowed Nami to wear it when he helped her in Cocoyashi Village with Arlong.

Luffy was born on Oushi Island, and has an older brother named Portgas. D. Ace, who is also a pirate. His father, Monkey D. Dragon, is also a famous pirate, and is supposedly the called the world's worst criminal. Vice-Admiral Monkey D. Garp is Luffy's grandfather.

Shanks nicknames Luffy "Anchor" when he is a child. He calls him this to tease him about not being able to swim even before he eats the Devils fruit.
Monkey D. Luffy wanted to be a pirate, but Shanks wouldn't let him because Luffy can't swim. When mountain bandits came to Luffy's town, he ate a cursed fruit, and got mad at Shanks because he let the mountain bandit make fun of him. Luffy eventually gets captured by the leader of the mountain bandits, and gets thrown overboard off a rowboat. He almost got eaten by the local sea monster, but Shanks saved him. Luffy tells Shanks that he will be king of the pirates.

Ten years later, he starts his journey to find his crew. First he defeated Alvida, and helped Koby to fulfill is dream to join the navy. When Luffy and Koby made it to a navy base, Luffy and Koby finds that the people of the town are afraid of navy captain, "Ax-Hand" Morgan. Also his son, Helmeppo, had Roronoa Zoro tied up, and had his swords taken away. Koby unties Zoro because he and Luffy heard Helmeppo say, "We're going to hold a public execution for him in three days." Luffy finds Zoro's swords, and defeats Captain Morgan.

Luffy, and Zoro leave the town after Luffy's bad acting at a navy officer on a boat. While sailing, Luffy tries to catch a bird, but the bird got him. Zoro, rowing as fast as he can, tells three shipwreck survivors, "I can't stop! Just grab on and climb in." Luffy eventually gets released, and lands in a village, and meats a thief named Nami. While in the town Luffy helps Nami steal Buggy the Clown's treasure. Luffy gets locked in a cage, and Zoro gets hurt by Buggy the Clown who ate the chop chop fruit. Luffy gets out of the cage by a lion named Richie, and later Luffy beats Mohji the lion tamer, and Richie. Luffy could only save a box of dog food for a dog named Chouchou.

When Luffy sees Buggy the Clown again, he knocks out mayor Boodle, and says, "Hey You!!! Big Nose!!!" Also Luffy stop Buggy's hand from interfering with a sword duel. In the end, Luffy defeats Buggy (with a little help from Nami who tied him up), and Nami gets Buggy's treasure and a map to the grand line. Unfortunately, Luffy's treasure (Shanks' hat) had to get fixed. Nami joins the crew as the navigator, and they leave with two ships. Luffy almost get thrown overboard because Nami found out that Luffy left the treasure because the town need the money to rebuild.

The strawhat crew tell Gaimon the truth about the treasure chests on a cliff, and continued their journey to the Grand Line. When they get to a village, Luffy met Usopp, the son of Yasopp. Luffy asks Mistress Kaya for a ship, but her butler, Klahadore (aka Captain Kuro) says, "I can't help you." Luffy gets knocked out twice by Captain Kuro's first mate, Django the hypnotist, and he defeats Captain Kuro.

When the strawhat crew leaves, they get a big boat, and a new crewmate (Usopp). While sailing, Luffy meets Zoro's friends, named Johnny and Yosaku. They found out about a restaurant named the Baratie, and head there. Unfortunately, Luffy made a hole in the roof, and met the owner, Chef "Red Shoes" Zeff. Luffy didn't want to work for a year, but later agrees. Luffy also defeats Don Krieg, and saves the Baratie from being wrecked.

After Sanji joins the crew, Luffy needed to head to Arlong Park to get Nami back. Luffy defeats Arlong, and Captain Nezumi of the Navy base 16 made Luffy a wanted man. Also, when Luffy gets to Roguetown, he almost gets captured by a navy officer who ate the smoke smoke fruit.

Name:Portgas D. Ace

Character Description:Portgaz D. Ace is Luffy's older brother. He and Luffy tend to get into fights about who's the strongest, so they can be a little silly.

Ace is more muscular than Luffy (Luffy is all gummy and thin) and most of the time shows off about it.

Portgaz D. Ace rolls with the Whitebeard pirates, and is the second-in-command on the ship. And, Ace is somewhat of a narcoleptic (someone who just falls asleep without warning). This causes him to doze off in the strangest places during the strangest times. Trace has the powers of the 'Flare Flare' fruit which gives him the power to make and control heat.

Luffy sees his brother at a town near Alabasta.

Portgas D. Ace parted with Luffy at Yuba.Ace was first introduced in the Alabastan city of Nanohana sleeping in the spicebean restaurant. He left Fuchsia Village three years before Luffy and is the second in command of Whitebeard, Edward Newgate, who is his captain.

Portgas D. Ace has eaten the Devil Fruit Mera-Mera {Flare Flare}, a logia type fruit, giving him pyrokinetic abilities and his reputation as "Fire Fist Ace".

Ace is neither a friend of the Straw Hat pirates nor is he against them. He was in Alabasta to search for his former crew member Blackbeard, who used to be in Whitebeard's Crew. Blackbeard killed his crew and fled and now Ace is looking for him to kill him for his crimes.

Name:Roronoa Zolo

Character Description:Back in his homeland, the young Roronoa Zolo had been somewhat of a troublemaker until he decided to cause trouble in a kendo school. He dared to challenge someone from the school to a kendo duel. If he won, he'd steal their school sign. If he lost, he'd become a student. However, he didn't count on two things. First, his challenger was a girl named Kuina. Second, despite choosing to fight with two swords, he lost to her.

It was the beginning of an intense rivalry. Zolo began to train like mad, and every day he'd try once again to beat Kuina. 2000 times he tried, and 2000 times he failed. Finally, for their 2001st (and last duel), the two agreed to fight a duel with real swords. Though Kuina once again bested Zolo, Kuina's heart was just not into it anymore. She was emerging into adolescence, and the traditions of their village prevented her from taking up her father's leadership of the dojo (in fact, it had been Zolo's constant challenges that had kept her going as far as she had). Zolo refused to accept that, and the two agreed to continue training to become the best swordmaster in the world.

However, Kuina's dream was cut tragically short not long after, even as Zolo had begun to work on a means of wielding a third sword in his mouth. After Kuina's could no longer fight (she died in the manga and Japanese version of the anime, and was severely injured in the 4Kids American dubbed version of the anime), he asked for (and received) Kuina's sword as a gesture to continue the dream they both had, so she could become stronger through him. He keeps her memory alive each time he wields this third sword between his teeth. After many more years of training, Zolo finally set out to prove his worth against the world.

Zolo soon amassed a fearsome reputation. Originally part of a small gang of pirate hunters, he became separated. By a strange turn of events, he happened to tick off the spoiled son of a rogue naval captain named "AxeHand" Morgan, when the man sicked his rabid wolf in a bar for kicks and Zolo attacked it to save a little girl. Morgan's son threatened to destroy the village if Zolo wouldn't be his prisoner for a month.

But it turned out Morgan's son was as dishonorable as his old man and intended to have Zolo executed. It is at this point, three days before Zolo's time was up, that Luffy showed up, looking for the famous pirate hunter. In exchange for his swords and his freedom, Zolo agreed to be part of Luffy's crew. The two of them proceeded to clean house, freeing the people from Morgan's reign of terror (much to his Naval officers' enjoyment), and the rest is history.

Zolo will not let anything interfere with his quest to become the best swordsman in the world. Luffy doesn't mind it and in fact encourages it. After all, it's only fitting that the Pirate King have the best swordsman by his side. But in that, Zolo can do some odd things. He tends to ignore pain and wounds when he's engaged in a fight (he's in his fighting mode when his black bandana tops his head). He will never turn down a challenge by another swordsman, and he'll push himself to the limit.

When the bandana's on his arm and he's resting, though, he can be remarkably lazy. He's been known to take naps at all sorts of strange times and places.

Eventually in the series, Zolo learns a technique called the Lion's Requiem, which can cut through anything that breaths. And according to the anime, almost everything, even metal, breaths in a way, allowing him to cut through almost anything. It is his most well known technique.

Character Description:His gift for storytelling can be used for good- like when he's entertaining Kaya with tales of the high seas- and for bad, like when he wakes up his neighbors, claiming pirates are attacking.

He picks a fight with Klahadore and Kaya tells him to stop.

Usopp has his own little fan club made up of three little boys, one of which is Onion, who comes back screaming when he sees something strange.

Luffy was always with Yasopp, Usopp's father, when he was younger.

When Luffy and Usopp go down to the beach, they see Klahadore and a traveling hypnotist named Django. Klahadore notices Luffy when he stands up and yells "Don't kill Kaya!!!". Django then hypnotises Luffy and tries it with Usopp as well, but Usopp ducks leaving Luffy a target. Luffy was sent to a deep sleep and fell off a cliff.

Usopp was born on Obitsuji Island. His name derived from the story "Isoppu" (Boy Who Cried Wolf) and the word "uso" meaning "liar". His appearance is supposed to be like Pinnochio (nose grows long if you lie

Name:Shanks
Alias:Red-Haired Shanks

Character Description:Shanks is the captain of the Red-Haired Pirate crew. He managed to obtain the Cursed Fruits, the GumGum Fruit (Gomu-Gomu in the Japanese version, meaning rubber), which makes whoever eats it able to stretch his/her body like rubber.

Shanks arrived on a small village and decided to stay for a while. He was admired by Monkey D. Luffy, a boy from the village. Shanks refused to take Luffy as one of his pirate crew, because he knew that Luffy couldn't swim very well. To become a pirate crew member of Shanks, Luffy trained hard so that he could swim.

One day, Luffy tried to show everyone that he was worthy to be a pirate by carrying a knife. Everyone laughed and reckoned he was joking. But he wasn't (and he accidentally stabbed himself in the face, which is where he got that scar). A group of mountain bandits came to a bar and asked for beer, only the pirates drank it all. Shanks offered their leader a clean, unopened bottle, only to have it smashed on his head. But despite this abuse, Shanks didn't seem to be mad, but rather helped the bartender clean up the mess. Luffy was mad about Shanks' refusal to fight back and accidently ate the GumGum fruit, much to his hero's displeasure.

Luffy managed to find the bandits and demanded them to apologize to Shanks, only to make their boss angry and try to teach Luffy a lesson. But Shanks showed up and drew the line, that he's fine with being abused but attacking little kids is unforgivable. As his crew dealt with the bandits, the bandit leader took Luffy to the coast and threw him in the water as a Seaking (a monstrous Moray-like creature) ate the bandit and was about to do the same to Luffy.

But Shanks rescued Luffy from the monstrous beast, at the cost of his left arm, and frightened the Seaking away with his scowl. Shanks decided to leave the village. But when Luffy promised him that he would become king of the pirates, Shanks gave him his precious hat, the trademark of the Red-Haired Pirates, only for Luffy to give it back to him when he fulfilled his vow...

Some of Shanks' Pirate crew were pretty famous. Among them are Benn Beckman, the vice-captain of the Red-Haired Pirates, Lucky Roo, the person who is always shown eating chicken, and Yasopp, the father of Usopp (one of Luffy's StrawHat Pirate crew).

Character Description:Tony Tony Chopper was born with a blue nose so his family and herd rejected him. He then ate the Human-Human fruit (Hito-Hito in Japanese) and became even more isolated from the other reindeer. He tried to communicate with the humans of Drum Island (a land of snow) but they shot him, thinking he was the Abominable Snowman. Then a doctor by the name of Dr. Hiriluk, who praised pirates and desired to join a crew himself, took him in. But Hiriluk then became sick and cast Chopper out into the cold not wanting the reindeer to watch him die. When Chopper found out, though, he set off on a journey to find a cure. He saw in a book a mushroom with the skull and crossbones sign next to it. Not realizing what the symbol really meant because of Hiriluk's praising of pirates, he set off to find it.

Doctor Hiriluk was overwhelmed with joy when Chopper brought back the mushroom despite numerous injuries he had acquired (Like a broken horn). He ate the mushroom to please Chopper, knowing that it was actually a deadly poison (just to show his love).
Rather than die from the mushroom's poison, for Chopper's sake, he committed suicide outside Drum Island's castle when King Wapol fled. As his last will, Dr. Kureha, the only doctor who wasn't owned by King Wapol's government, was to take charge of Chopper. She taught him everything she knew about medicine. They lived an isolated life in Drum Castle until Luffy and his crew came along. Chopper had already been naturally distrustful of humans and Sanji and Luffy's shared desire to cook and eat him didn't help. But, impressed by his medical and fighting skills displayed against Wapol's returned army, Luffy decided to put all differences aside and asked (forced) Chopper to join his crew as the doctor.

Chopper is a unique character in that he can change form after eating the cursed Hito Hito Fruit. But this also deepens his value, because the berry also turns Chopper's nose blue and he is able to change form to reindeer, reindeer-human (the general form), and a muscular manly deer (the monster). Because of this, he was kicked off his reindeer herd, where his old friend Doctor Hiluluku finds and helps him for one year.

But in the Dolamu Land of Snow, Dr. Hiluluku catches a illness that can only be cured by a special mushroom. Chopper goes on a journey for the mushroom and mistakes a poisonous mushroom for the antidote, which Dr. Hiluluku eats for Chopper's sake and dies.

Chopper was born on Yagi Island.

Character Info:Kakashi is one of the series’ more popular characters and it’s easy to see why. With his lazy expression told with a single eye, aloof manner, relaxed voice and minimalist attitude, Kakashi can be relied upon to provide comic relief through his lack of attention. However, when required to be serious, Kakashi quickly switches to the polar opposite, focusing himself on the subject and not missing a single thing.

Many, both inside the ninja village and outside, know his reputation but he has few real friends. The closest he has is Maito Gai, another Jounin team leader. The pair forms a good comedy duo, with Kakashi assuming the role of the straight arrow while Gai’s over-the-top dialogue and actions often earn him a response in the vein of “Did you say something?” from Kakashi. Gai describes Kakashi as hip, cool and trendy but seems to be the main instigator of their rivalry, often making the situation more complicated and unusual than necessary. Kakashi is the son of Hatake Sakumo; a ninja blessed with extreme skill which earned himself the nickname of Konoha’s White Fang. This was either due to his sharply pointed white hair or the family tanto he carried, which emitted a white chakra when used by a Hatake. Kakashi himself would later possess this. Sakumo’s reputation was comparable with that of The Legendary Three but his attitude proved to be his undoing. Sakumo aborted a mission that cost his village dearly, with the reason for the abortion being the safety of his comrades. Shamed, Sakumo took his own life. Kakashi grew up with a very cold attitude, basing efficiency in carrying out the mission to be the #1 priority.

Kakashi accomplished a lot in the younger years of his life. He was the student of the man who would go on to become the Fourth Hokage, taking over that man’s role as commander of his team. His reputation has been widely increased thanks to an unexpected advantage coming from the first mission he performed as a Jounin. During a war, Kakashi’s objective was to destroy a bridge that aided the enemy Rock ninja forces. In an encounter with them, the team’s medic, Rin, was kidnapped and interrogated by the enemy. Kakashi, seeing her as a hindrance to the team, made the decision to leave her. However, his other companion, Uchiha Obito, refused and rejected his ideals.
Those who don’t follow the rules and regulations are trash”. Kakashi lived by the motto. “But those who don’t care about their companions are worse than trash!” Obito added to it. Obito set off on his own to rescue Rin, but Kakashi followed him and saved him from an ambush, which cost Kakashi his left eye. Obito felt consumed by doubt and in a vow to protect his friend, his eyes lit up in red and the Sharingan sprouted for the first time with a pair in each eye. His enhanced vision penetrated the enemy’s camouflage and he was able to strike him down.

Catching up to Rin, the pair ran into another enemy, who attempted to kill all three by crushing them with falling rocks. As one was about to strike Kakashi, Obito slung him aside and took the hit instead. Totally crushed on his right side, Obito knew his death was imminent and made the decision to have his left eye removed and implanted into Kakashi by Rin. Kakashi accepted it and sought revenge on the Rock ninja. The battle broke the tanto in half, perhaps symbolic of Kakashi’s heartlessly efficient motto only being half correct. Kakashi then fell back on the perfected version of his first self-created move: Chidori.The Rock ninja was taken down, but reinforcements soon arrived. Fortunately the kunai Kakashi was carrying was modified to alert their sensei if it was thrown. Blanking out from exhaustion after he attempted Chidori, Kakashi awoke to find all the enemies gone and the team leader with them once more. Rin gazed off into the distance, thinking about the events of the day. Since the loss of Obito, Kakashi took on several of his personality traits. He started to relax the strictness of his punctuality and also made up poor yet amusing excuses for being late. In truth, visiting the grave marker of Obito every day caused his lateness. He also decided that the mission was no longer the #1 priority.
In the coming years, Kakashi would acquire his own nickname – Copy Ninja Kakashi, due to him using the ability of the Sharingan to steal or adapt techniques he saw with it. He would also join the elite ANBU, a squad of masked ninja who worked directly under the Hokage. Kakashi further honed his skills while an ANBU, and earned the respect of many fellow ANBU including "Yamato" and Uzuki Yuugao. It also appears it was during this period when Kakashi and Gai developed their eternal rivalry. At some point during this period he may have also signed his blood oath with his nin-dogs.
His next appearance in the series would come when the Third Hokage put him in charge of the current year’s Team Seven. His first impression of them wasn’t much, especially when Naruto decided to wedge a dusty chalk eraser in the door to come down on Kakashi’s head. The trio would be the first Genin to impress Kakashi enough to pass his bell test. None of the former Genin sent to him in the past had lived up to his standards. For that reason the trio could remain under his guidance and not be sent back to the Academy. Kakashi formed a good relationship with his team, acting as a voice of reason to Naruto, a comfort to Sakura and somewhat of a father figure to Sasuke, although much of his advice was tough love to cool down the fiery boy. Overall, he stressed a hybrid of his previous two mottos – Teamwork, with the strength of the solid team coming together to accomplish the mission.
Their first major mission together was to the Wave Country, where they were escorting the architect, Tazuna. Tazuna’s goal was to build a bridge to improve the economy for the country instead of paying the high prices charged by the shipping magnate, Gato, who had formed a monopoly on the country’s imports and exports. Gato had hired a number of renegade mercenary ninja, including the Demon Brothers, their superior, Momochi Zabuza and his young student and bodyguard, Haku. Kakashi defeated the Demon Brothers effortlessly and later brushed with Zabuza for the first time. Kakashi revealed his Sharingan and baffled Zabuza with it, cornering him. At this point, a disguised Haku rescued Zabuza under the façade of killing him and taking the body for disposal.
Kakashi was unconvinced, but drained from using the Sharingan. The eye was not properly compatible with his own body and use of it sucked out his chakra and left him weak. Despite this, he still managed to set a task for Naruto and Sasuke to compete to enhance their chakra control. When the trio did the task he was nicely surprised that Sakura was already at a decent enough level. A short while later Kakashi learned his hunch was right, as Zabuza returned with Haku to once again sabotage the bridge. Kakashi’s Sharingan was unable to have an effect on the battle as Zabuza had lowered visibility to the point that the required eye contact was not happening.
Naruto and Sasuke had been trapped by Haku, until Naruto’s rage built up to the point that Kakashi was growing worried from the presence of the Kyuubi’s chakra. Feeling the need to finish the fight, he held Zabuza with the aid of a group of summoned dogs, before preparing his finishing move – now bearing a nickname, the Raikiri. However, instead of killing Zabuza, Haku sacrificed himself as a human shield and gladly allowed Kakashi’s hand to penetrate his chest.

Gato turned up to finalize things, just after Kakashi had disabled Zabuza’s arms. Following a change of heart, Zabuza turned on his employer and killed him in front of his own personal band of mercenaries. Kakashi and Naruto helped drive the rest of them off with a massive series of clones, before returning home.
Soon after, Kakashi volunteered Team 7 for the Chuunin exams, to Iruka’s dismay. Kakashi would next appear during the exams after Sasuke’s first fight; using an incantation to suppress the Cursed Seal he had been given. As he finished, Orochimaru appeared behind the scenes. Kakashi threatened him with a Raikiri, but realized that to take on Orochimaru would be suicide. However, he was not satisfied with the attention Sasuke was under and checked on him just in time to see Kabuto attempting an assassination. Kakashi drove him away, but with no time to apprehend him. Perhaps for Sasuke’s own safety, Kakashi personally tutored him over the next month or so, teaching him the Chidori and encouraging the speed to use it.

Kakashi and Sasuke would resurface in the Chuunin Exam finals, “fashionably late”. During the fight with Gaara, Sasuke pulled off the Chidori and became the first person in years to make Gaara bleed. However, the resulting instability on Gaara’s part forced the start of the planned invasion and the stadium in which the fight took place was almost entirely put to sleep. Kakashi, Gai and a few others repelled the sleep and the attacking enemy forces while sending out a small team of Genin to track Sasuke, who was already pursuing Gaara.
The war took its toll on Konoha, but something far worse was about to occur. Kakashi witnessed an attack on Asuma and Kurenai, quickly blocking a critical move by copying it and nullifying it quickly. The perpetrators were Kisame and Konoha’s own Itachi. The two seemed equally matched in skill until Itachi tried a Genjutsu technique. Kakashi attempted to fight it off, but fell prey to something beyond anything he’d ever encountered before, being put through mental torture lasting three days, suffering the imagined pain of being stabbed over and over. Luckily for him, his friend and rival Gai turned up with an ANBU squad, but Kakashi was severely traumatized before they left again.
Ironically, Sasuke had suffered a similar action at Itachi’s hands, before lashing out at Naruto and Sakura. Kakashi stopped both Naruto and Sasuke before they killed each other in a duel, realizing they were using the Rasengan and Chidori with serious intent. Jiraiya and he both blamed each other for teaching their students such dangerous techniques, but Kakashi went on to address Sasuke personally. When Sasuke began to show signs of unruly behavior, including threatening to murder Kakashi’s close ones to show him how he felt, Kakashi revealed everyone close to him was already dead. Despite this, Sasuke still took off. When word of the event reached Kakashi, he disobeyed Tsunade, who had set him another mission and sent his dogs to track Sasuke down. However, by the time Kakashi arrived, he found an unconscious Naruto and no Sasuke. Carrying Naruto back to the village was all he could do.
Roughly 2.5 years after the defection, Naruto returned home and alongside Sakura, met up with Kakashi once more. Kakashi was given the latest in his favorite series of adult novels, before sparring against Sakura and Naruto in a mock of the old bell-test. However, Naruto’s cunning overcame Kakashi when the boy shouted out spoilers to the novel, distracting Kakashi and allowing the youngsters to gain their bells. The peace was sadly short-lived as a message came through from the Wind Country that Akatsuki had struck there, with the request for help.
A surprise awaited him there as he was near instantly attacked by one of the residents of the village, the old lady Chiyo. Mistaking Kakashi for Sakumo, who had killed her own son several years ago, Chiyo apologized due to the heavy resemblance between Kakashi and Sakumo. Taking her with them, the team of Kakashi, Sakura, Naruto and Chiyo set off to trail Gaara. On the way to the neighboring River Country, they encountered an Akatsuki member… none other than Itachi. However, Kakashi noticed something different about him and took a moment to speak of the Mangekyou Sharingan which he had suffered to badly from before. When Kakashi discussed the weaknesses of it, Itachi looked on in shock and uttered “…Impossible…”
The team of four managed to bring Itachi down, with Naruto striking the final blow. However, as Itachi began to die, his shape began to change and the corpse was that of Yuura, an agent of Sasori and a former Hidden Sand ninja. It would later be explained that the Itachi they faced was Yuura possessed and transformed into what was essentially a duplicate of Itachi with all his memories, thought patterns and personality.Team Seven made it to the rendezvous point outside Akatsuki’s base of operations, a large cave. However, as soon as they entered, the Akatsuki member responsible for abducting Gaara, Deidara, sat with his partner, Sasori in wait. Deidara was sitting on an apparently dead Gaara, but as soon as Naruto charged in, Deidara took off, taking Gaara’s corpse with him. At that point, Sakura and Chiyo stayed behind to deal with Sasori while Naruto and Kakashi pursued the airborne Deidara, flying away with the corpse on a huge animated clay bird. Eventually, Naruto and Kakashi got close to Deidara, but Kakashi told Naruto to hold back. Frustrated, Naruto complied until Kakashi finally pulled his trump card, opening his left eye… with a version of the Mangekyou Sharingan.
Slowly, the space around Deidara’s arm began to compress and was crushed into nothing, severing his right arm, despite Kakashi commenting on his inexperience with it leading to the move being faulty. A few moments later, the Sharingan collapsed back into the usual design, but bought Naruto enough time to reclaim Gaara’s corpse and begin attacking Deidara directly with his clones, until his knuckles bled from punching Deidara. Eventually, Naruto’s rage boiled over and he manifested into the shape of the Kyuubi with bubbling red chakra, sprouting a second tail from his back. Kakashi noticed the change and upon remembering a warning from Jiraiya, used a tag that the sage had prepared in case Naruto went too far to seal up the Kyuubi’s power.Meanwhile, Deidara watched from a distance, but was found by Neji’s Byakugan. Chased by Gai’s team, he managed to escape to the remains of his clay bird and swallowed a piece of his exploding clay, planning to use his suicidal attack to wipe out both teams. As the disgustingly obese Deidara inflated with the power of the explosion building, Kakashi managed to use up his last reserves to once again manipulate space, containing and suppressing the explosion from the current dimension. Finally, Kakashi was rather embarrassingly carried home from the Sand Village on Gai’s back. The strain of the Mangekyou Sharingan had taken such a toll on him that he was hospitalized and temporarily replaced by another ninja as the team leader. Under Tsunade’s decision, the ANBU member codenamed Yamato took his place on a mission to meet another of Sasori’s subordinates.
Upon their return, Kakashi was informed of the events of the mission, including the increased skill that Sasuke had learned. After greeting Sasuke’s replacement on the team, Sai, Kakashi announced he had been spending all his time in bed thinking about things. His conclusion was that the only solution was to match Sasuke in power, but Naruto would be the only candidate for training. However, if Naruto were able to complete the training, his skill may not only equal Sasuke, but also perhaps even surpass Kakashi’s own…
