   Shame on me
Yep, shame on me for not posting here for the past month or so. I don't really have an excuse for not posting 'cause I was just too lazy. Actually, I haven't had much free time to go on the computer. I'm getting the house ready for Thanksgiving and Christmas when my family comes. I'm also preparing my house for a cold winter. I took the screen windows down and put up dual sheeted glass ones. I hope everyone's doing great and I hope to post here more often.

   I love the '80s
Yeah, I'm sort of a child of the 80's. I was watching VH1's "I Love The 80's Strikes Back" and I can't remember a damn thing about 1981 or 1982, I only remember a few things of the 80's and they were really good things. He-Man, Transformers, Go-Bots, and Voltron! That was classic television. The new He-Man is total crap compared to the original. And Transformers Armanda? Don't get me started on the new Transformers cartoons. I may only be 22 years old but, it hurts me very much when people talk about the new Transformers or the new He-man and when I talk about the classics, they give me a blank look and laugh. I'm afraid of what the future holds for these brands of animation. I shiver everytime I think of what The Transformers would be in another 20 years. I wish I could relive my early childhood just one more time.

Anime becoming more mainstream: Good or bad?
How many TV channels show anime? Well, we have Cartoon Network, TechTV, ABC Family, Nickelodeon, Fox, Showtime(Beyond & Next), and soon MTV. ADV has even started an all anime channel. There might be more channels but, that's all I can think of right now. Anime is becoming more mainstream in America. More and more titles are being licensed, More distribution companies are popping up, and more TV networks are picking up anime series'. Is this mainstream explosion a good thing or a bad thing? I've heard many of view points on this subject. Let's evaluate the two main views.

GOOD: Some people like having more anime in the mainstream. It introduces new people to the genre and having anime on more TV networks gives fans more of a choice. People like it because it gives them a chance to see what a particular anime is like before they go out and buy it. They also like it because they can just watch a certain anime and not have to go out and blow a bunch of money on the videos.

BAD: There are other people that hate the Idea of mainstream anime. They want it to be a more underground thing. They feel that liking anime and hanging out with other die hard anime fans defines their individuality. They feel that putting more anime into the mainstream will only bring out more "posers". They are sick of running into posers(people who watches one anime and think they know everything there is to know about the whole genre) and they would much rather discuss anime with people that actually know quite a bit about it.

Which side are you on? Well, the biggest factor for me is how I got hooked on to anime in the first place. When I was a little kid, I used to go to my Grandpa's house and his Idea of quality entertainment was anime LD's(Laser discs). I remember sitting down and watching Vampire Hunter D without subtiles or englih language. The LD was a pure import. At that time(real late '80s), I was confused that my Grandpa would watch foreign cartoons. In the early '90s, my Grandpa took me to California for an anime convention. I didn't want to go but, my parents insisted that I spent time with Grandpa. If my parents knew that it was an anime convention, they wouldn't have let me go. My parents were overly religious and they believed that radio, tv, and mere newspapers were propaganda for the devil so when I went, I swore my secrecy about it to my Grandps. The convention was weird to me at first. There wasn't much cosplay. There was a few people dressed up as anime characters but, most of the people were wearing flannel. Yes, FLANNEL. It looked more like a flannel convention than an anime con. Me and my Grandpa went to a spot that lead to my love for anime. This place was selling VHS's of Devil Hunter Yohko and it was a hell of a lot cheaper than an LD. My Grandpa happily bought one and when we left, My Grandpa had spent over a thousand bucks on LD's and that Devil Hunter Yohko tape. When we got back home, My grandpa popped the new tape in the VCR and I was blown away. It was SUBBED! I understood what was going on! When I watched it, I thought it was the best cartoon ever made. That started my obsession with anime.

I do like the Idea of having more anime choices on TV but, I also agree that it would only bring more posers. I'm kind of torn up on the views of mainstream anime. What do YOU think?

   Just bought new anime.
Yep, it's Saturday night and that's when I take some of my hard earned money and go shoppin' for new DVDs. Well, I don't buy anime all of the time. I also buy a lot of wrestling videos and horror movies. Tonight, I bought 13 episodes of Record of Lodoss War. This series has an rpg element with the usual mix of heroes. There's swordsmen, magicians, priests, etc. I'm used to watchig this kind of anime with a lot of humor in it(like MKR or The Slayers). Record of Lodoss War is very serious with scarce comedy relief as far as I can tell considering I've only watched 4 episodes so far. If you haven't seen it yet, check it out. If you have anime that you would recommend to me, please contact me. Well, that's all I gots to say about this. I'm very bored and I couldn't think of anything else to write about.

Cubs in the World Series?..........................Maybe in another 95 years.
The Cubbies lost the NL championship and I should be happy but, I'm not. I feel sorry for the Cubs' devoted fans who are willing to stick by their cursed team. The fan who caught the foul ball(a potential out) that triggered an eighth inning scoring parade for the Marlins is probably hiding in a dark corner in his basement from a mob of angry Cub fans. The curse is still with the Cubs and they may very well be cursed forever.

What do some people have against anime?
I was visiting the TechTV message boards and I came across a few people that were totally ripping on anime fans. One person went as far as to say that anime fans are "users" and "retards" and there was another person that was telling anime fans to "grow up". They stereotyped us fans as people who have no lives. They make the generalization that all anime fans are losers that can't get jobs or girl/boyfriends. They had even harsher and more stereotypical things to say but, I'm not going to go into detail right now. You can see for yourself if you visit the TechTV boards and browse through their Feedback section. I'm sorry if this sounds pointless but, I really needed something to rant about.

   Can't get enough of MKR!
I just got done watching the first season of Magic Knight Rayearth for the hundredth time but, I still can't get tired of it. The second season wasn't as good, in my opinion. The first season had a lot more humor and less seriousness than the second season. I don't like most of the Magical Girl type of anime but, MKR is one of a few shows in that genre I like. Comedy, action, drama, super deformed goodness, and Oh yes..........Mechs! I love Mecha and I love the adventure(The Slayers,Lodoss War) types of anime. Well, I've done enough babbling. Buh bye!

   Cubs win...........again. Argh!
Yeah, the Cubs actually won game 3. I'm still confident that the Marlins will come back and pick up the next 3 games. I'll give the boys in blue some credit, though. They do play a good game and they do give their opponents a real tough time. I wish Chicago's black and white(The White Sox) were in the running for the world series...Oh well, maybe next year.

Can the Cubbies win World Series?..........I Think not! Ha Ha Ha!
Ok, as of right now(8:50pm), The Chicago Cubs are slightly winning the 3rd game of the NLCS against the Florida Marlins but, the poor Cubbies are known to blow an early lead. To tell the truth, I hate the Cubs. I'm more of a White Sox fan but, the Cubs do have a slew of hardcore fans and they've been waiting for this all their lives. I do commend them for their devotion to their Wrigley Field heroes but, I still stand by my words when I say..CUBS SUCK!

   Woo Hoo!
As you may have already heard GTO will be airing on the Sho Next channel Starting in November. The Showtime Networks have run X, Shadow Skill, Armitage:Dual Matrix, and Fist Of The North Star. Showtime Beyond currently airs Dirty Pair and DP Flash on friday nights.

I've never seen GTO and I'm really glad that it's getting air time on a premium movie channel. If you don't have any of the Showtime channels, go here. Well, I should get back to work before my boss comes in. Have a nice day!
