ASHES OF THE PAST

CHAPTER 4
RATED: PG: Mild Romance

Kagome stumbled as she proped herself up and tried to run over, causing her to trip and fall hard onto her stomach. As she rose, she slowly opened her watery, red eye's and looked up at sesshomaru in the distance. The shadowy figure still laid upon the floor...motionless. Kagome,lifted her hand and felt her shirt colar which was damp from inuyasha's tears and blood,and managed to get to her feet as she slowly walked toward sesshomaru. As she approached sesshomaru, she stoped but a couple inches away, looking down on the limp body that lay before her, her heart skipped a bit and she became breathless, "inuyasha"! she screamed as she threw herself onto his fragile and cold body. Tears ran down her cheeks, "DONT DIE"! she screamed, as her vioce faded into the distance, "WHY DIDNT YOU HELP HIM! WH..WHY DID YOU JUST...." she screamed as she collapsed over inuyasha's limp and pale body. Sesshomaru just watched as yet another tear ran down his face. He quickly lifted his hand and wiped the tear from his cheek, trying to hide his emotions. As Sesshomaru turned his head, his eyes fixated on a pile of bones in a sea of blackened ashes, which little by little, dissapeard into the nothingness of the wind. Kagome slowly brought herself up on her knees and rested her hand under Inuyasha's head and pulled him close to her chest, holding him within her arms as she continued to sob, "Please dont die.." she said in a hushed voice, "ple...please...dont die.." her voice became very raspy as she continued to cry.

Miroku slowly woke, tightly grasping his left hand which seared with pain. As he quiclky removed the cloth he gasped at the sight...the wind tunnel which had cursed his father and grandfather, sealing their fate....was gone. Miroku slightly grined as he turned his head to face sango who had just woken. He slowly walked over to sango and knelt beside her "Are you alright Sango"? he asked quietly, Sango lifted her eyes to meet mirokus "Im alright" she said as she slowly lifted her self "I think i...AHH" she stoped suddenly, grasping her leg in pain. Miroku leaned over and lifted sango into his arms, holding her, "thankyou" Sango said quietly. As the four of them began to walk, miroku noticed something "sesshomaru"? he said astounded as they raced over to where he stood, they came to a sudden halt, as their eyes widened in fear....it was kagome and inuyasha. Kagome still held Inuyasha within her arms, "WAKE UP! PLEASE WAKE UP"! she screamed as inuyasha's blood covered her legs and arms. Sesshomaru slowly walked towards Inuyasha and Kagome stoping, and atanding right over them, "Strange...he seems to be nothing more then...a human.." Kagome continued to cry, sobbing over him. Sesshomaru slowly bent down and placed his hand on top of Kagomes bruised back. Kagome quickly turned to face Sesshomaru who was still looking into Inuyasha's face. He slowly placed one arm under Inuyasha's head and another under his legs lifting him into his arms. allowing Inuyasha's head to rest on his shoulder and draped his arm round his neck, hanging over his other shoulder, like a child holding his lifeless body. Kagome just gazed up at Sesshomaru, almost in fear of what he was going to do. She stayed knelt in the blood stained soil as she gazed at Sesshomaru, "Wh...what are you doing"? she asked as Sesshomaru simply turned and began to walk towards where the gate had once stood. Kagome quickly rose to her feet as she ran past Miroku and the others, running after Sesshomaru, "KAGOME"! Miroku yelled as she faded into the distance "WAIT"! she yelled at sesshomaru "W...where are you..." Her voice faded as she collapsed to floor, feeling the pain from her wounds...drifting out of conciousness. Sesshomaru just merely stoped and faced her now motinless body. Miroku and the others ran to her side "Kagome...are you alright".
*fades out*
Kagome woke inside a pale lighted hut, the smell of rain hung in the air. She felt the warmth of the sheet that laid upon her, and the warmth from the fire that was across from her. As she slowly turned her head she noticed Kaede, adding wood to the fire..which had begun to slowly die out. As she tried to prop herself up, her head began to pulse with pain, and she felt dizzy and nausious. Kaede turned and noticed Kagome, proped up in bed and rushed over to her side as she laid her hands on both her shoulders, "rest" she said calmly, laying Kagome back down, "inu..yasha"? kagome said faintly, Kaede just stared into her eye's as she slowly turned to face where Inuyasha laid. He was in bed, His top had been removed in order to tend to his injuries and a large bandage was wraped around his stomach and chest...it was soaked in blood. "NO CHILD" kaede said as Kagome rose out of bed and stumbled over to inuyasha, where she now laid beside him, "Is he....did he.." tears welled up in her eye's. "Hes alright...he just needs to rest", kaede said softly looking at the two of them. Kagome laid one arm across his chest and could feel his breath upon her arm as she rested her head upon his shoulder, she slightly grined "Im here...everything's going to be ok".
