Vampirism in the sense that we use it is not the vampirism of folklore.

You'll find none of the crosses, holy water, stakes in the heart, etc. associated with the folkloric vampire here.

Real vampirism is a condition characterised by the need for an energy source aside from conventional food and drink. Some vampires partake of blood drinking to accomodate this need. These vampires are called sanguinarians. Other vampires take energy (chi, prana, ki) from other people via the aura. These are known as psychic vampires. Still others can drain energy from sex or the natural elements. Most often a vampire does not have a choice on how they must gain their "sustenance".

This need is often described as being like a hunger or thirst that can't be satisfied with conventional food or drink. This hunger is often accompanied by a more predatory or animalistic mindset and anything from headaches, depression, mood swings, nausea, rejection of "normal" food, aches, and fevers, as well as a lowered immune system.

Vampires most often have an abnormal sensitivity to light. Some burn very quickly, even with the lightest of sun exposure. Others don't have so much of a sensitivity. Nearly all vampires will say that they do have a sensitivity to light when it comes to vision. Most times natural and fluorescent light cause problems for vampires. They'll get migraines or nausea associated with photosensitivity.

Vampires prefer the darkness to the day. The night doesn't have the harsh light that causes so much discomfort. Vampires are often better adapted for the night. They often report having slightly better than normal night vision as well as a "reversed" sleep cycle. Most vampires state that they can simply "stay up all night" and not be tired at all. It's often very hard for a vampire to fall asleep at night due to this feeling of needing to be active. This often makes it very hard for the vampire to function during the day as they are groggy, sleepy, moving in a daze. This seems to be the case no matter how much sleep they manage to get the night before.

Vampires usually have willing donors that give them what they need. Sanguinary vampires don't often bite but choose the more sanitary methods of lancets or syringes instead. Psychic or "psi" vampires often have donors as well although this is not as much a necessity with them. Psychic vampires often choose to have a donor out of moral considerations.

Some vampires report having heightened senses or augmented abilities. They have quicker reflexes, are stronger than they look, are faster than they look, see better at night, hear noises that are inaudible to others such as the hum of electric appliances, and have slightly better "sixth sense" abilities than the average person.

There is no known cause of vampirism. There is also no commonly known way to "make", "turn", or "embrace" someone to make them a vampire. Some doubt whether this is even possible.

Most vampires will simply say that they were born this way, their vampirism coming into effect around the time of puberty but not necessarily at that exact time. This period is known as "awakening", when one becomes aware of their true nature.

Various theories as to the cause of vampirism stem from a botched reincarnation to a biological factor such as a vampire gene or an unknown virus. No one knows for certain the cause.

All that is certain is that vampires are real and they walk among us.

for some reason, see it as a more physical thing, like some sort of difficiency of some sort. Like the slightest change of makeup in your DNA...but that's mainly on the basis of the way you have physical needs and pains like hunger as well as a difference in sensitivity to things like light. But the spiritual idea makes quite a bit of sense. There are so many theories, I wish I could choose just one.

I believe Vampirism is both Physical and also Spiritual.

Whether you are Psionic or Sanguine we are all vampires we are connected by similar traits ie: the craving , the nocturnal urge to be up instead or diurnal , the heightened senses , the weaknesses to the sun for some , the esp type of senses , the adept abilities in the occult , and manipulation etc. etc. But, that is only the physical aspect of vampirism.

Now In the spiritual sense most belive that their soul is vampiric and yes whats in the soul can bring out physical traits. Any way look back throughout the beliefs in the world along the line of history many people had beliefs that worshipes vampiric deities . ie: Kali,Shiva,Inaana,Marduk,Baal,Quetzlcoatl,Yahweh, the Morrigan,Heycate and Persephone just to name a few. Then there was the belief that some had around the world of consuming your enemies heart/blood would give you their powers and strengths. ie: spartans with blood soup even though if memory serves me correct wasnt usually made with an enemies blood but a strong healthy bulls blood but the idea still remains of gaining strength from another by consuming the life source whether animal , human .

That is my view on where vampires/vampirism is from.

I believe vampires are humans who have an astreal leak and I think there are tons of different reasons that a vampire could have an astral leak. One reason could be that the astral leak allows us to better manipulate energy. One theroy I have is this:
Therians are a thing that are common in the vampire community. They are people who believe there soul has animal attributes in it. Because their soul is a different size then their body it causes an inbalance that tears upon the astral body and actaully causes a leak.
