The Morning Of
It's 5:24am, people.

It's dark outside.

But the house is full of activity.

This is something I didn't get to do with Nashville - post up a little 'farewell for the weekend' post. But now, here it is. =)

Watch us on TV! Saturday, 12-4 east coast time...I think...yeah. On NBC. We're a little before halfway in the parade. The band representin' Illinois, with the drumline in blue jumpsuits (drumline ninjas!), and me crashing cymbals together.

Good times.

Katana and Sangome Present...
...the Oraganization XIII of theOtaku.

I. Adam
II. James
III. Kei
IV. Dagger
V. Sara
VI. Katana
VII. Sangome
VIII. SomeGuy
IX. bellpickle
X. TimberWolf
XI. Chigo
XII. Batou
XIII. Ichigo

(With the exception of, like, the first five, this list is in no real particular order.)

(Actually, that's a lie. Really, the only ones excempt from real order are numbers six through ten.)

How was the list formulated? How did this crack theory even begin? Well, after Katana read one too many fan comics concerning Organization XIII on DeviantArt, this idea was born.
The list was formulated going by the people mostly in charge of theO. Then we were like, "let's do people who people know/we like". XD And because we wre tapped out by the end, we just threw in the podcasters. ^^;;

Expect sommore things to come...soon...

Woooah, I'm confused
The last two comments I've posted on the newspage haven't been the top ones. Instead, they've been placed below old(er) ones. o.O

Today is the second anniversary of my Azumanga Daioh fansite, "Numbnuts Unite!". Can't believe it's been two years. *tear*

Six days 'til New York!

People, you frustrate me!
Just some more ranting...Here's my newest comment in the "is Bleach the next Naruto?" comment war.

While we're exposing a younger generation to anime, it's sugar-coated and most dubs are just horrible.

*sigh*

Naruto is not sugar-coated, especially for its timeslot. When Naruto received a TV-PG rating instead of TV-Y7, that was a huge step in a good direction for anime fans. But when the cheering finished, what happens? Narutards start whining. Again.

People, realize that the U.S. and Japan harness two completly different cultures and different views. Heck, even the U.S. and Europe are totally different. (This was what my final article was about...) You're never going to get the same thing in different countries.

Also remember: If not for dubs, a good 98% of theOtaku population wouldn't be here. And in the words of Sangome's avatar, suck it.

I apologize for spamming the comment box, but I must defend truth and justice in the name of The Otaku Attack Force!

----
Why do I even bother? People just whine and bitch anyways. I know I have a habit for defending dubs, but really, Naruto and Bleach have excellent dubs. So just shut the hell up.

For the love of...
What is with people and posting up plagerized pieces? What is with the "moderators" and picking plagerized wallpapers as the featured pieces?!

Did I not just report the exact same artwork being plagerized a mere month ago?

...

OTAKU ATTACK FORCE, ASSEMBLE!!!

Thinking, thinking
- I finally got smart and made my own "account" for this computer (the basement comp) instead of just bumming off my dad's. Now I can have all the random quicklaunch and desktop icons I want.

- Building off that last note, I've fired up Winamp and put on my entire playlist of anime songs (508...small). When "Who's Theme" popped on (a song I haven't listened to in ages), I was surprise that I could still sing to it. Once you've listened to a song, it just sticks with you...

- Building off those last two notes, "Fly (Small Circle of Friends)" has been on my "Favies" playlist since...when did episode 23 of Samurai Champloo air? o.O Mid-spring? I dunno why I'm not sick of that song yet!

- I hate chemistry.

- I also hate AP U.S. History tests/quizzes. The only reason I managed to get a B in that class (counts as an A on the report card, though) was because of the projects we do. France and New Jersey FTW!

- Today was the PLAN test, a sort of prelude to the SAT we take as juniors. Boring as hell, it was. We got to skip the first two periods for it, though. I didn't mind missing geometry, but I really wish I could've gone to Honors American Lit. (In case you don't remember, we're on a block schedule...four periods a day, each class about 83 minutes, and having that class every other day.)

- Holy &%*^, fourteen days until New York (discounting the rest of today).

- Speaking of New York, our 'schedule' was announced to us during band today. We're arriving at the high school at 5:45am, loading up at 6:00, and leaving at about 6:30am. Did I mention we get to skip two days of school, since we're leaving Thursday morning? I was sorta disappointed that we don't get to bid farewell to the suckers still in school, but naja. (That's German, look it up. =P)
When we leave, I want to post this banner across the top of the band room doors: "Gone to New York City - see ya on Monday! (We're gonna be on TV!)"

- I'm going to be a salt shaker for Halloween, with my friend being the pepper. xD We're debating between what to do for the capper/dispenser...Our first thing is to try and find wire mesh drainers or something and just wear those as hats. Second option is to color our hair silver and spritz in black holes. =D I'm excited.

Shameless plug, away!
Okay, so it appears that I'm using the fanmanga section. It combines writing and my crappy chibis, so I guess it works for me.
But it's not like I'm going, "OMG I WANT TO BE A MANGAKA!!111!" =P

So yeah. The series is called "Waffles and Katana Discuss...", so that when shortened it's 'WaKD', which is sorta like netspeak for 'wacked'. XD

As Waffles suggested, "you should pimp it out on your otaku page". So I am. =3

WaKD 1: Rumiko Takashi

WaKD 2: Of German Descent?

WaKD Special: Unsolvable Mysteries - The Ninja Scarf?

Ah...the first two are already "featured". But since the section has, like, twenty pieces, it doesn't surprise me. >_>;;

18 more days!
Discounting today, since it's almost over with, there's apporximately eighteen more days until the New York City trip. I'm so excited. X)

- The Otaku Attack Force seems to be going well. I actually drew up some uniform ideas, but because the scanner isn't working (something weird with the software), I can't show them. Blee. =P

- The fan manga section? Maybe I'll put it to use. My friend Waffles declared yesterday that me and her will do a series of our conversations in comic form. I've almost got the first one done, too. xD

- Why is it I hang around theOtaku all of Saturday, only to have the podcast be posted on Sunday? >_> We're just hoping the O.A.F. (yes, I know...) gets mentioned. We did spam up over 50% of the comment box. ><;;

- My anime club at the Elburn library is coming up. November 3rd is the "tutorial meeting" date. ANYBODY can come, regardless if they have a membership to the library or not.
Town and Country Library in Elburn (Illinois, dir) on Sunday, Nomvember 3rd, from 1-4pm. The guy in charge of events just gave me the whole block of when the library is open. You don't have to stay, just pop up and stuff.

Please help me. o_o;;

- I was thinking about ACen '07. About two weeks ago on the transfer bus, Haya and I were contenplating on who Ryu could cosplay if he comes, and I kept insisting on Shigure from Fruits Basket. All he has to do is don the robe and grow his hair out again. X)

Who's gonna come this time around, huh? Bellpickle's a given, but what about you, Sangome dear? XD C'mon people, come! It's a blast!

I'm so determined to meet (one of) you guys next con. Dunno why. Hehe.

Force, assemble!
Due to my own comment, there's a new task force looking out for the good of Otaku kind...
Here's how it panned out:

Katana:One last thing, and I'll stop spamming the comment box:

Sangome, TimberWolf, and Katana: Looking out for the common Otaku and typing in actual English. It's why they're awesome.

Sangome: We rock.

We should totally do our own podcast. :O

We just have to get the proper equipment, meet each other in real life, and con--er, convince someone to hire us as their podcasters.

I smell a SITCOM!

TimberWolf: Hm... now what do we name our podcast, and where do we podcast from...
Or, we could overthrow Ichigo, Chigo, and Batou and declare ourselves the official Otaku podcasters...
And then get run off the site by Ichigo's 4 fangirls.

*TimberWolf will now stop spamming the comment box*

Katana: *lied about not spamming the comment box anymore*

...
Problem is, Sangome and I are two of those four. Kinda defeats the purpose.

A sitcom? With us three?
Wait, no, got it!

"Sangome, TimberWolf, and Katana...when they combine their forces, they are...The Otaku Attack Force!"

Sorta like a shoujo manga, but not. IT'S GOLD!

--------

Maybe I should doodle something...

Twenty is the number...
...of how cold it was last night and the winning score at the football game. Now, normally I don't care about football, but our team is now 7-1, and beat the undefeated Harvard Hornets team last night.

But gawd, it was cold.

There were some interesting things last night at the game, one of which involved a kid (sort of) getting arrested. Here we go:

1.) In the first quarter, our team got called out on something that just seemed utterly stupid. We (the drumline) have this little roll and chant for whenever it's first down. (*drum roll* "First down!") The bass line, however, did the roll and chanted out, "Bullshit!" at the call. xD

2.) Despite threats of not getting third quarter off due to kids in previous games not coming back in time, Struyk gave us the quarter off. I think he was happy with our playing of the three halftime songs (Free, Spinning Wheel, and Getaway/September). Either that, or we needed to get hot chocolate. >_>
When I found out, I hugged his foot, since he has this podium thing to stand on. X3

3.) The most interesting part of the evening:

So in the beginning of fourth quarter, this senior kid ("Kyle") pops up, and two of my senior friends said hello. Then he vanishes, like everybody else. >_>

A few minutes later, Aiyanna comes hopping down the bleachers, calling out for Struyk. He asks her what's up, and she tosses him a small rock (about the size of a spoon or so) saying that it hit her instrument, and also hit our friend Justin. Struyk looks at it and asks who threw it.
She points to Kyle, who is down on the ground talking to some kids.

A few seconds later, I turned my head around to talk to Struyk - and he wasn't there. So the drumline looks off to the ground, and there he is, dive-bombing for this kid and grabbing him in a headlock. He drags the kid behind the bleachers, where we can't see him.

For about ten minutes, there is no Struyk, so drum-major-Erin came down and filled in on bits. When he returns, there's a cop with him, who interviews Aiyanna on the incident. A second cop comes, and Justin is called down, to which the cop asks, "Would you like him arrested or dealt with through the school administration?"

Awkward.

Justin said the second option, since the administration would deal with it better. But man...what a fifteen minutes those were.

The band seems to receive this "hate service" every year. Last year, somebody chucked an open bottle of blue paint at the drumline, hitting the drums and splattering everywhere. There's still paint on the bleacher.

Why is it people are so stupid? You throw a rock at a completly metal instrument, an instrument meant for marching and is just a year old, and if you ruin it...there's $4,000 gone from your pocket. Luckily, the rock only caused a scratch...or so is the news right now. Had he hit and busted a sousaphone...$15,000.

Just keep that in mind, folks: Instruments are expensive. End of story.
