Well, it's been a whirlwind of a week. Like, really. My teacher have been evil, and I had three tests: One on Thursday, two on Friday.
The one on Thursday was for biology, und it was over proteins. Very easy. The first on Friday was for German...I have no clue how I did. There were same parts I whizzed right through, but others...I must've stared at two pages for at least five minutes. Each. The second one was for world history, and I'm fairly confident I got, at most, minus 5 or something.

Meep.

Third quarter also ended on Friday, so we got released at 1:00. Therefore, each class was 55 minutes, which worked out quite nicely. For example, first period started at 8:00 am. We went until 8:55, had our usual passing period of five minutes, then started second period at 9:00 am. Very nice.

We have four days this week - Friday, we get off. Then next week is spring break~! Wootness!

Hmm...

My high school's spring musical "Guys and Dolls", ran this weekend (March 16-19). I designed the art used for posters and on the playbill cover, and this time around, I finally got recongnition. And lots of compliments. ^^;; For God's sake, I had kids I never talk to come up to me and go "Wow, nice job on the cover!"
Anyways, Guys und Dolls was an eye-popping success. Tickets ran for five dollars a seat, and I would guess that maybe, in total, twenty seats didn't sell the entire weekend. Our auditorium seats about 400 (we're a dinky cornfield school :3). LOTS of people.
About half or 3/4 of my friends were involved in the production. The only freshman to get a name part - Agatha - was Haya. *points to friend list* ^_^ So we were all happy and bouncy for her. Even though she only got, like, four lines, she was great. And she looked very cute up on stage in the "Save-A-Soul Mission" uniform. ^^;; No, really, the others were all sophomores (except one other freshman), and they were just kinda like "blah".

I was totally blown away by some of the people up on stage. The guys playing Sky and Nathan were terrific. The girl who played Adelaide had an amusing "New-Yworker" accent, and she even...she even SANG with it!
But who was really, just amazing, was this guy, Joe, who played Nicely Nicely. He's friends with my posse, and pops into our morning meeting spot of the band room from time to time. He's really funny and a fantastic singer.

Act 1, Scene 3, took place with the curtains down and two things in the front of the stage: A phone booth on one end and a workbench-like table at the other. Nathan Detroit was in the phone booth calling Joey Biltmore, asking if he could hold the crap game there. At one point, Joey's supposed to say "Wait a minute, I have a costumer", put down the phone receiver, and fire off a gun. And now that we're in high school, they use a real prop-gun, that makes the noise and smoke and all. Well, he pulled the trigger - the barrel rotated - and nothing came out. The actor made this face, muttered "What?", aimed, and fired again. Nothing. So he calls out to the 'costumer', "Come back when my gun's loaded", a total improv line. XD This was so great that the audience applauded.

Erin: "Oh, I'm a bobby soxer."
Katana: "What the hell's a bobby soxer?"
Erin: "Well, I wear a pink skirt and a white blouse and I come on stage going 'OhmyGod New York!'"

Analise: "I'm a street walker. With Carmella."
Katana: "So...you...and Carmy-san...are street walkers..."
Analise: "Yep. It's a fancy word for prostitute."
Katana: "Got'cha."

Katana: "So now, we have two new quotes. 'Come back when my gun's loaded' and 'Let's play some crap!'"

Rediscovery
I recently re-discovered the 2002 game, Metroid Fusion. *fires up the GBA and loads her third save file* Must...defeat...Serris for...the fifth...time...
*fires rockets at Serris*
Hey! He's all black and charry now!
*continues firing*
Teh weh! I am victorious!
I found an energy tank!
Woot! I lowered the water levels!
Yay! I reached the recharge room!
Alright, alright, I'm done, sheesh...

Well, seeing as you guys seem to thrive on pain, I've created yet another "If It Were Anime". This time around, though, it's the ever-hateable "Oliver Twist". So, without further ado, Katana presents (directly from her notebook) -

If It Were Anime: Oliver Twist
The extremely condensed, sorta cliffnote-like version

Little Osamu Takeda lost his mother moments after he was born, and Osamu's father was nowhere to be found. With no family to raise him, Bokuya-sama, a sniveling, two-faced monk, took the boy to live and grow up at the temple.
What Osamu doesn't know is that he's the legendary Child of Impearies, and destined to create the Stone of Chikara. Thus, there are two sides that want him - the monks, and the underground group T.H.E.I.F. (oooh!)
Osamu, while out performing an errand, is suddenly kidnapped by Satoshi, a leader of one T.H.E.I.F. (The Home of Emo Inducing Fiends) circuit. Osamu is first treated like a slave, sheltered only slightly by the equally-abused but higher up Namiko - a girl who, throughout the ages, had developed feelings for Satoshi.
But after a raid goes wrong, Osamu is shot and severely wounded. While the rest of the circuit escapes, Satoshi attempts to treat the wound, but to no avail. Knowing that leaving Osamu would result in expultion - and death - from T.H.E.I.F. lord Chao, Satoshi escapes the city and heads out. In the end, Osamu is left in a ditch.
Once again finding himself on the streets, Osamu crawls about until coming upon the meeting house for the secret society, Elegy. There, people live apart from reality, seeing only the good but assisting those in need.
Osamu now must make a choice: Stay in this sheltered world and lead a happy life with his aunt and grandfather, go out onto the streets and be with his near-crush Namiko, or face a terrible truth...one that could destroy the world.

...Where the hell did that last paragraph some from?

^My B-day lunches are spent with music and homework. This was created a few minutes before going back to class. X3

If It Were Anime: Romeo and Juliet
Taken directly from Katana's enlgish notebook:

"The Earth and Martian forces have been at war for years. When the Martians throw a party in celebration of a recent victory, young Earthling Rokuro Hiroshi is coaxed into going by his two friends, Bunsuu and Michiru. As they sneak in and party, the boys learn a secret of the Martians - beyond their mecha and battle suits is a race of people that look exactly like humans, but have cat ears and tails.
Meanwhile, the equally young Martian Junko catches the eye of Rokuro. The two dance, talk, and walk, falling in love.
But there're just two problems: Rokuro is the son of Earth's Defense Commander - and Junko is the daughter of the Martian's!
To stay together, Rokuro brings Junko back with him to Earth. While concealing her secret, awkwardness occurs.
The Martians are furious, believing that the Earthlings kidnapped their girl. The battles increase and become excessively violent. The casualties rise and there is no end in sight. Rokuro and Junko are distraught between what do do.
But when Junko gets caught in the line of fire, Rokuro immediately sacrifics himself to save her. Without a thought, Junko is shot mere moments later."

^Now that's real boredom.

The Misery That Is Howl's
From my comment on the main page

[[There are two sides here:

The group that says Wallace and Grommit was indeed better and that Howl's wasn't Miyazaki's best work

OR

The group that's screaming "OMG11!!1 HOW DAR TEHY NOT PIC HOWL'S!11!!1"

So let's create a new side...sorta:

I got to see Wallace and Grommit, even though claymation creeps me out. Indeed, it was a good and funny movie, but the jokes were recycled and have been way overused.
Though I do want that opening theme. X3

Howl's Moving Castle may not be Miyazaki's best, but was indeed a kick-ass movie - Miyazaki's best reigns supreme god over all animated movies. Ever.

I'm going on the side that Wallace and Grommit definetly had more hype, commerical endorsement, and a wider theater release than Howl's Moving Castle.

It can't be helped. When you have something like Wallace and Grommit come along, it's kinda like competing with Lord of the Rings or something.]]

It is a shame that Howl's Moving Castle didn't win. Had it done so, it would've been another great step for anime in Western culture.

---

My high school hosted a solo and ensemble competition yesterday...there were like nine other high shools there or so. Me and my friends Meghan, Carmella, and Analise combined our duet groups into an ensemble. Quite possibly the most mis-matched ensemble ever: Two seniors and two freshman - two oboes, one alot sax, and one flute.
We performed "Andante From Symphony Number 94, the Surprise Symphony".
Our score?

Rank I.

Two years strong. ^_^

Of parodies and comics, covers and SOAP
Let's see what we've got here.

I've just joined SOAP. I feel all warm and fuzzy inside. :3

My band director, Mr. Struyk, and the chorus teacher, Mr. Nesseth, have recruited me to do spring titles. Struyk wants me to make a cover for the "spring" concert...this Thursday. In the meantime, Nesseth snatched me up again to design the cover for the spring play. And what is the play? Guys and Dolls.

I'm hyped about going to ACen. In the meantime, I'm attempting to organize my costume. ^^;; In the meantime meantime, bellpickle and I are at least trying to meet for three seconds at the con. She says to look near any place giving out free food. XD
So I made a comic. An empty granola bag to whoever can figure out what the hell's going on.

And finally, we have...INUYASHA PARADOIES! My friend Waffles and I found these some weeks ago. Some guy took a scene (per video) and re-did the voices. The results are just plain...psychopathic. bluedemonboy already had the, uh, privelage to see these. He sums them up by saying "That was one very strange parody series". X3

If you're curious as to what kind of humor is used a lot, then my buddy Jenna has a summary for you: "I wish I wasn't so amused by those things. But they make me laugh real loud...and it almost seems wrong."
The titles will finish any doubt you have. :3

Inuyasha Parody 1 - Porn Stash

Inuyasha Parody 2 - Miroku's Breast Exam

Inuyasha Parody 3 - Djbouti Power

Inuyasha Parody 4 - DNA

And the long awaited fifth installment...

Inuyasha Paraody 5 - Inuman

^ That's from Mr. Curtis, my biology teacher. Heh. It's always fun to learn that the freshman bio class is doing better than the sophomores. 'course, our class is psychopathic anyways.

More ACen: Indeed I will take photos, seeing how many one can cram onto a camera memory card of 116 mb.
That's why there's friends, different camera modes, and, of course, the card the camera came with.

Interesting development: I might actually get to meet the elusive bellpickle at the con.

Any more Otaku people gonna show up in physical manisfestation?

Definite happy place
As of now, 8:06 pm, I am officially going to Anime Central 2006.

And come Friday evening, my little check and envelope with registration info will be on its way to the people of ACEN.

Dude, I smell a con report article.

Look for a girl dressed as Haruko (FLCL) and wearing a Dad-cap (Azumanga Daioh).

If by some chance you actually are going, you might actually get lucky and learn my real name. However, my badge says Katana, so it may not be so. ^_^

Oh yeah. I'm in a happy place.

An Online Family
I'm really bored, trust me.

So I was thinking recently...it's like I have a sort of family online. People I can count on, people I can trust, and people I can talk to. There are people I like to hang out with (or as much of that you can do online), and people I like to...gnaw on. X3 There are also people I've come to despise as well. But I won't talk about them. x.X;;

It doesn't seem like I have any real "parents" online, so to say. It just seems I have a lot of brothers and sisters - mostly older than me, watching out for me, and having my back. And in return, I have theirs.

Then there are people that I just seem to have this weird "partner" bond with. Like, you know, there are some people on the Articles site that I've grown to enjoy because they think along the lines of me - or at least, have some mad writing skillz.

And in the end, there are people I respect and admire. These are usually people either in college or out in the real world. Sometimes, these guys cross over with the other categories.

So let's see what I've got here...

Siblings: bluedemonboy. Not only did he say my entrance quote of "you've got style kid", but he drops in here a lot to comment. And I do something rare to him - I go to his site and read about his life. I hardly ever, ever, ever do that.

Next comes Kastom. I mean, seriously, he just sorta popped up one day and seems to enjoy my articles. You always gotta have fan appreciation. XD He's got some style going on. And enthusiasm. Always good.

On the fringe of a lot of categories is bellpickle. She's here and there, like a kitty cat. A great writer, and commetns on my articles a lot. But unlike many people, she offers some good constructive critiscism.

And then there comes Boo (known on myOtaku as darkapocalyps). Really creepy, he just IMed me one day. And I was weirded out. XD I dunno why he got interested in me, but he did, and now, he drags me into the random OB chatrooms. ^^;;

Respect: A lot of people - mainly, they are related to website stuff. This applies to Adam, James, and the people majorly involved with development and deisgn of theOtaku network.
Also, I have deep respect for people shelling out webcomics, like Piro of MegaTokyo, Dave of Paradox-Lost, and Scott of VG Cats. There's also Barry of the Azumanga Daioh fansite "Sata Andagi".

And you know what? I'm tired...

Holy friggin' monkey bubbles!
Quick post! Fear it!

My Valentine's card for friends was up for maybe 12 hours or so. Since Monday (yesterday for me, it's 11:14 pm, but whatever) it has been sent 212 times.
Crazy.
And yet...very awesome.

In school news!
I'm finally in world history this semester. Mr. Neils, the teacher, is this young, 27-ish guy with lots of energy and humor. His jokes go over most people's heads, but hey, I get it. I have no clue why...I usually get the non-toliet humor jokes. Those are usually bad anyways.

So Mr. Neils requires you to make at least six world history "trading cards" for every unit...about six units, roughly 36+ cards in the very end, very minimum.
And because I love any opportunity to show off my Photoshop skillz to an adult, I put tons of effort into mine. Each category has a decorative theme and color to it (you need one Rookie of the Century, three Famous Characters, and two Special Cards), and, as it turned out with me, different brushes.
They look pretty shiny. But there's too many of 'em...don't feel like bringing them out now...

This isn't a short post after all...thought six minutes is short for me. X3

Score!
The new featured stuff gets a little aggrivating after a while. Mainly in the fact that pretty much all the wallpapers featured have been regular images or the classical noob tactic of cut-and-paste.
But now - now - I got lucky. XD 'cause the featured greeting - is MINE!
I was sick today and incredibly bored, so I made two Valentine's day greetings: An Azumanga Daioh one for friends and a Full Metal Alchemist one of Izumi and her husband. XD I couldn't find the image online, had to scan it in from the fifth manga. ^^;;
Well, I can easily say that greeting'll be up there for two hours. (
Um, what else, what else...

A while ago I mentioned that I was starting to CG. Well, since then, I've gotten better, but I'm still nowhere near the quality that I want to put out. So more training is in the works for me.

What else...

A new friend has joined the buddy list, Ryu6fw. XD He's my friend Ryu-chan (from real life), and has been mentioned here and there around the place.
The second name breakdown - Ryu6fw:
"Ryu" was the name given to him as part of a seventh grade literature project between myself, him, and Liz (Hayachan11). Note how everything seems to orginiate from seventh grade. X3
Believe it or not, "6fw" actually stands for something - "six foot wonder". XD That part spawned from eighth grade, after he shot up in height over the summer break. Typically, he's called "the six foot four wonder", but since he's actually not that tall yet (6'3" as of now), and beause it's shorter, 6fw works out better.

What elsssseee...

Oh ja, randomthunk.net. It seriously exists. Actually, it's been in existence for a little less than a month now. Currently, it's main purpose is to host my Azumanga Daioh site, but my CG attempts are also there (on the Photoshop page). Don't make fun of me. :3
Speaking of making fun of, I also have a DeviantArt account. Normally I hate that place, but Aiyanna scooped me into it. - -;; Since 'Katana' is, of course, taken, I dubbed yet another account 'Kataoi'. (Combining 'Katana' and 'aoi', which is blue.) If you feel so inclined to, you can check it out here.

And now, I'm out of ideas.
