I am King David dodging the greedy Goliaths
Darting in between
The crashing thrashing monoliths
I am keeping the Philistines at bay
Warding the Leviathan away
Working with magic and ironsmiths

I am Santiago sailing on a violent sea
Flowing with the typhoon
No untoward waves come from me
I am keeping the predators at bay
Warding the craggy bottom away
Bringing home my precious bounty

I am Ulysses I will not heed a siren's song
I am on an ancient quest
Whereby right shall conquer wrong
I am keeping the hags at bay
Warding the curses away
Within my new Eden do I belong

I am Don Quixote jousting against illusion
That is not mine for me reality
Has risen above confusion
I am keeping old saws at bay
Warding the critics away
Riding my words like a stallion

I am Humanity struggling to survive
By wit and grit and fortune's benefit
