Konbanwa
That's right; I'm here! Been here for about a month, now. And I'm busy as heck. So what have I discovered in my travils? Well, the Japanese have a fasionation with English, but they can't use it for didly squat. And Japanese boys are NOT like they are in the mangas- they're all bishonen, the pretty boy kind. No manly men in Japan. In fact, it's so bad, you can't tell the guys from the girls often. Yep. So yeah. And so far I've only found one dojo of any type. As for anime, it's EVERYWHERE, but only select ones. Naruto, One Piece, Pokemon (it's everywhere!! ahhh!!), Bleach, and these two little girl shojo animes that look like Sailormoon at the age of 8. To find anything else, you have to dig. Not nessisarally a lot, but some. The cool thing is, there is manga at every single bookstand, bookstore, grocery store you can imagine. There is an arcade in every mall/collection of stores. Very little DDR (which bums me out), but a lot of other things.
Oh, and last, but not least by any streach of the imagination: Hello Kitty owns Japan and simply rents it out to everyone else. I swear. She's everywhere- she has her own TP. Well, I haven't seen it, but I'm sure it's there, as TP is just as decoritive as your table napkins. She is in close compitition with Pokemon, though. They really are trying to give her a run for her money. Kick the crap outta Pikachu, Kitty-chan!! |
