Rebuttal to Nitpickers Guide to Evangelion.
This web site Has stated a few things that I found can be answered. I guess this has no real point but I just thought I would make my thoughts heard. I will go episode by episode and give my counter-example for the ones I can

N=Nitpickers

Ep.1
N."Misato's red vest appears out of no where when they arrive at Unit 01."
L.She could have had it at Nerv for all we know.

N."This happens in every single episode of the series, not just this one. Why is it that whenever someone is refering to one of the children (for example Shinji, the third child) they say children instead of child?"
L.I have read that in japan they refer to them seprately as "Children" So this is just a culture thing

N."Why does Shinji have a vision of Rei at the start of the episode? Its one thing never explained or mentioned again."
L.I believe it is to show the kinda of connection between Rei and Shinji. Kinda omen to what happends in the EoE.

Ep.2
N"When we see Unit 00 for the first time in this episode, the bakalite is up quite far around the Eva. However, in episode 5, when we see it again, the bakalite is at a much lower level, including at the time when it was actually used, and then again when we switch to the present time."
L.Weird but could it be after time Bakalite strinks or evaporates over time?

N"As said multiple times in the series, Eva's are supposed to have extremely tough armor(binding), which would even withstand the blast from the tenth angel, which would have made all of Tokyo 3 into a crater. However, in this episode, Unit 01's head binding is easily cracked and falls off after the angel self-destructs. Looks like the armor ain't as powerful as they said."
L.Honestly do we really know how powerful that blast was? It could have been much more then they estimated.

N."Shinji must be quite a help to Misato. In this episode, we see quite a mess in her apartment when he arrives. Strangely enough, it's fairly neat for the rest of the series. Shinji must be quite good at cleaning "
L.I believe it is stated throught the series that Shinji is a clean freak. Look when he went to Rei's with Touji the first thing he does is clean.

N."The Angel in this episode suffers from what I call 'DBZ Syndrome'. This is the sudden ability to gain a random attack. One such example of this in DBZ is Cell. While Gohan is battling Cell, he is about to defeat him. Suddenly, Cell develops this random power that we've never heard of before, the ability to blow himself up, which would destroy the earth. The Angel comes under a similar incident. The angel suddenly self destructs it's self, something you'd figure a organic creature would be unable to do"
L.We really don't know this do we? It might be organic however it has more of a control to its core and A.T Field then humans have. It probably let its A.T Field down and charged his core to maximim.

N."After going through the Angel's AT Field, it blasts Unit 01 with a cross blast, but although the blast extends throughout the city, Unit 01 isn't even pushed back. It should have either pushed the Eva back, or not have gone so far."
L.Unit 01 is far more powerful then anything of its day. I'm sure the beam just went around it as it hit Unit 1.

Ep.3
N."Those shelters supposedly aren't as good as we might think. You'd figure since it's Tokyo 3, such an advanced city, they would have an advanced shelter. Of course it isn't, since not only do Kensuke and Touji get out easily, but also they are quite close to the surface where the Eva is fighting."
L.I'm sure that it was not to organized. After losing half the population I'm sure that most military forces and order would have been in Nerv trying to stop the Angel.

Ep.5
N."Misato must not know how to take care of her Penguin. Not only does she give Pen Pen beer, but she doesn't even open the can for him, something I doubt he would be able to do without thumbs."
L.Pen Pen is a drunken bird. Plus he has its beak I'm sure he could gouge it open.

Ep.6
N."This episode brings up another question dealing with the Synch ratios. Due to the Eva pilot's synch ratio with the Eva, they feel the Eva's pain to an extent. Unit 00 is seriously fried, so much so that they spend the next 4 episodes repairing it. Unbelievably enough, Rei is unharmed."
L.Rei is a lot tougher and had a lower Synch ratio the Shinji. The armor was probably burned but how much of the Eva itself was damaged? Not much. Thats why Rei was not hurt as badly.

N."Hmm... I'm wondering how exactly Shinji got injured. Think about it, the Eva was hit in the chest, and although it really messed up the Eva's armor, it wasn't hit long enough to penetrate the creature inside. Since the Entry Plug is in the back of the Eva, how was the Entry Plug effected? I guess it could be due to Shinji's current synch ration, but as I'll talk about later in the episode the whole deal with that is rather fishy."
L.The blast got pretty deep in the armor. I'm sure the Eva could feel the heat of the blast. His Sync ration was also higher then Rei's showing why he got hurt and she did not.

Ep.7
N."This episode is interesting because its something that every single other episode of the show isn't: It's a filler episode. Filler episodes are quite common among various animes like Dragonball Z and Outlaw Star, but Eva isn't that type of show that would contain any. However, this episode is definately a filler episode; it's like a so called 'monster of the week' episode, and the show isn't vital to the plot at all(although we do get some character development)"
L.Like he said. Character development. Shows Misato's true self, Gendo's cruelty and Ritsuko's devotion to him

N."When Misato drives up to Shinji's school(not even in a parking space by the way) her usual blue car is now red."
L.That car got beat up real good in the first episode. I'm sure that she had it re-done and probably re-painted it.

N."When Shinji's undergoing one of his usual synch ratio tests, he is wearing his street clothes. Shouldn't he be wearing his plug suit like he always does?"
L.Probably a test like the nude one. To see the difference with street clothes.

Ep.8
N."When Eva Unit 02 starts jumping from ship to ship, the ships shake and fall apart underneath the Eva's feet. Rightfully so, after all the Eva must weigh a lot. But at the end of the episode, the Eva goes flying out of the explosion, and crashes on the ship. This time, absolutely no reaction from the ship."
L.Probably the one huge ship that could take a Eva landing on it. If they had it damage the ship the others would have been hurt. So they landed on the biggest strongest one.

N."With this episode we essentially learn the reason why the Angels attack (although we don't get all the info for a while). They want to encounter Adam, which was being brought to NERV by Kaji. So, why did the first 3 angels attack Tokyo 3? Adam wasn't even there yet. I guess you could say it was because they mistaked Adam for Lillith, like so many others, but then why did this angel get it right?"
L.More then likely the angels where born closer to Tokyo like the one in the volcano. They felt a being like adam and went to it. Then when Adam was being moved that angel felt something moving with great power and went to it.

Ep.9
N."Twice in the episode we see the remains of Ramiel. Its been a couple weeks and they're just bothering to clean it up now? Okay..."
L.I'm sure angel waste takes a good long time to clean up. Think of a giant bio life form decaying. Plus they were doing tests on it so they thought it best not to move it.

N."Why does the Angel explode at the end of the episode? There was no reason for it to occur."
L.The core's were severly damaged. Same as the 3rd angel's death I'm sure it went into overdrive.

Ep.10
N."When Shinji saves Asuka, she was quite a long way down. So how was Unit 01 able to get down there so fast?"
L.We have seen time and time again Shinji and Unit 01 doing amazing things. Plus Asuka was lowered down Unit 01 probably just jumped down with everything it had. Plus Shinji's wish to not let others die.

N."The angel in this episode looks a lot like Gaghiel. However, when we see it in its embryo form, its in a humanoid shape, looking absolutely nothing like what it looks later in the episode."
L.Let me ask you this. Does Adam look like his true form when he is in his embryo form? I'm sure that all angels start out like that and grow differently. Just like humans, most start out in a similar embryo form but as we grow older people's apperances change.
N."Unit 02 wears a special D type equipment when it goes into the lava to protect the Eva. So how is it that Unit 01 is able to go in the lava and nothing happens? Remember, an Eva is supposed to be able to withstand a nuclear blast, so why did the Eva need the Type D equipment at all? Unit 01 clearly didn't need it."
L.Better safe then sorry. Why put the EVA at risk if a armor that could protect it more so. Unit 01 just was very lucky. He did not know if it would hold.

Ep.11
N."Just how did the power go out? Was it SEELE, mad at NERV for whatever reason? Was it the makers of Jet Alone? Was it just some terrorist? Or maybe it was just an accident. We never find out."
L.Something tells me that it could have been Kaji working for whoever. Though I cannot say for sure.

N."Was it just me, or was this angel rather lame? Bullets don't effect the other angels, but this one dies with a single hail of bullets."
L.Possibly because its A.T. Field was forming the acid? I dunno about this one. Perhaps this angel was to unstable.

Ep.12
N."This angel contains not only the strangest looking angel in the series (a flying pancake with eyes), but also the stupidist. The Angels want to reunite themselves with Adam. Now please, explain to me; how in the world will blowing up all of Tokyo 3, including itself, accomplish the Angel's goal?"
L.I'm sure Adam has even the tinyiest form of a A.T. Field to protect itself. If The angel won nothing but Adam would be left and the next angel could possibly come intact with it.

N."Kensuke says Misato is taking care of 2 Jr. High kids. But Shinji and Asuka should be high school age students."
L.I know alot of 14 year old that are still in Jr.High. So more or less could be right could be wrong. I'm not sure if they were in high school or not so this could be right or wrong.

Ep.13
N."Just like in the last episode, I really have to question what this angel was thinking. The Angel attempts to self destruct NERV HQ. Now how exactly will this help it get to Adam? Its more likely to destroy the Angel along with Adam too."
L.Again. I'm sure Adam has even the tinyiest form of a A.T. Field to protect itself. If The angel won nothing but Adam would be left and the next angel could possibly come intact with it.

Ep.14
N."When Asuka is complaining about Shinji being spoiled, you can see the little monitor with Shinji on it next to her. It says from Eva 01, but he is in Eva 00 at the time."
L.Possibly that each pilot has there own OS? I'm not sure though just a guess.

Ep.16
N."Why don't they clean up the Eva before putting it back in the cage? They should have cleaned it while it was outside, since it must of made quite a considerable mess bringing it back in."
L.Again could it be that they wished to study the Angel's DNA? By bringing it inside it would be easier for the lab people to get at it before it was cleaned.

Ep.19
N."When the Angel first breaks through to the Geofront, Asuka waits there and starts firing at the angel. However, once her ammunition runs out the angel slices off the Eva's arm's with its razor sharp arms. After the arms slice through the Eva's shoulders, you can see the Eva's blue blood all over them. But when the angel pulls it's arm back about to make another attack, the blood has vanished."
L.I'm sure that the Eva's don't have that much blood to loose. Perhaps just some is stored there. Again I'm not sure perfectly how the Eva's are build so dunno.

N."With it's razor sharp 'arms', the angel is able to not only chop through 3 Eva's bindings with ease, but also slice through parts of Central Dogma. However, after Unit 01 reactivates, it holds up it's hand and the 'toilet paper like' arms tear to shreds around it when they should have sliced the fingers off the Eva."
L.Again Unit 01 beserk is a whole lot more powerful then any other angel's. Plus with Shinji's 400% sync I'm sure it was 10X more powerful then ever before.

N."Misato and the other NERV technicians must not be paying attention. They are quite surprised when they learn that the Eva's actually have binding, not armor. However, look at all the oppurtunities they have to figure this out. In episode 2, The bindings on the Eva's arm is broken, then the Eva's entire head bindings fall off, revealing the true creature inside. In episode 3, the bindings on the hands burn off. Two situations where Misato and the others could have easily figured out the truth by simply paying attention."
L.Simple. Misato and the crew have had a few to many throught the series. I'm sure there brains are not quite up there. ^_^

N."Okay... how exactly did Unit 01 defeat the angel? The Eva simply swings it's arm and the angel pretty much dies. If the Evas have this ability, don't you think they would use it sooner? Save NERV a bunch of time. Looks like another case of DBZ Syndrome."
L.Again Shinji and his 400% sync are much more powerful then any of the other Eva's. Asuka and Unit 2 could do this in the movie Eoe but that is after she see's everything clearly.

N."Hmm... another confusing thing raised in this episode is the whole issue of the Eva's ability to regenerate. Unit 01 regenerates it's arm in a matter of seconds. So why couldn't they do the same for Units 00 and 02? It would save NERV a lot of money, they got all the angel body parts they need from the 4th, 5th and 9th angels."
L.Perhaps a new little tidbit they did not really know about? I'm sure that is how they regenerate the other Eva's but Unit 01 was so close to being a angel it could to it easily. More a show of its power.

N."At the start of the episode, Shinji is pissed at NERV, and says he is going to destroy as much of headquarters as he can. However, the Eva is already in the process of being put back into storage, as seen by the Umbilical Bridge in front of the Eva. Sure, he can cause a lot of damage that way."
L.Shinji is not really thinking to clearly then. Its possible that he could have pushed it out of the way and crushed the bridge?

N."When Shinji leaves, he brings none of his things with him, and even tells Misato to trash the things left in his room. Don't you think he would have wanted them?"
L.Probably did not want to be reminded of his time piloting. Misato even said if that was the real shinji talking. He was done with that part of his life and never wanted to look back. Not that it lasted long.

N."When the Angel blasts off Unit 01's arm, blood gets all over Gendou. Minutes later, while watching the berserk Eva, he's clean again."
L.Gendo's a rich man. I'm sure that he has his own people car was for himself. ^_^

N."They sure think of the best places to put the shelters, don't they? This time, Unit 02's head crashes into it, killing multiple people. I thought shelters were supposed to be in safe places, apparantly not..."
L.With SEELE in control of the government and there wish to return all souls to one, do you think they care about people?

Ep.20
N."Yet again, they don't tell us how the Eva was restrained. You saw how crazy it got in the last episode, yet the very next day its wrapped up in bandages in Nerv HQ."
L.Even rabid animals calm down eventully. In the Manga they use the restrait system to stop it. So I'm sure they had plenty of way's to stop it after it calmed down.

Ep.21
N."In this episode we find out that Ritsuko's natural hair color is brown. I wonder why she died it blond?"
L.She hated her mother right? For falling for Gendo and betraying her. She probably wished to be as different as she could from her mother. Even if she fell into the same trap. However she did try to be different from her. Kudos. ^_^

Ep.22
N."When Asuka is about to shoot at the angel, that grey helmet like thing is on her head. But as soon as the angel attacks, it vanishes without a trace."
L.Perhaps in her screaming she knocked in backwards or off? I mean she was going pretty phsyco when the angel was raping her mind. So lots of things could have happend to it.

N."Whats so important about the Lance of Longinuss? Fuyutsuki tries to convince Gendou not to use it, and SEELE is pretty pissed off in the next episode at him for using it, but they never really explain why. Even in the movie, they don't tell us why Gendou wanted to get rid of it."
L.Gendo wished to created Third Impact his way. He probably thought if he got rid of it the only way TI could be started would be the way he wished it to. Although Shinji some how brings it back. My thought is that Shinji wished to Die but thats my 2 cents on that.

Ep.23
N."Funny, Ritsuko cares when her cat dies, but Rei is apparantly dead and she doesn't even care. Sure, you might say thats because Rei 'took her place' with Gendou, although she doesn't care when Shinji might have died in episode 16. I find it odd how she cares so much for her cat, but not for fellow human beings."
L.Ritsuko is one messed up person. She becomes more hallow as the series goes on and only cares for herself. Not much emotion is left in her tourtured soul at this point.

N."Why did Ritsuko have to go to SEELE naked? Whats the point of that??"
L.Fan-Service. Nothing more nothing less. Plus SEELE is a bunch a perverts. ^_^

Ep.24
N."Early in the episode, the 3 Eva pilots are having their Synch tests. But why is Rei there? Her Eva's gone, and the other 2 pilots are overwhelmingly ahead of her in Synch Ratios."
L.At this point does Rei have much else of a purpose? I guess its just in care one dies or something. I dunno just giving her something to do. She still in the 1st child.

N."This is one of the things that bugs me the most. Throughout the first 23 episodes, Shinji is a very closed off person, finding it difficult to make friends and get along with others. Now Kaoru comes along, and suddenly they're the best friends in the world despite only knowing each other for a few days. After killing Kaoru, Shinji goes nutz. Of course when Rei died Shinji didn't even so much as cry, yet this guy he knows for a few days causes him to totally lose it?"
L.Kaworu was a sprit like his own. Rei died was a shock to him yes but Kaworu was killed by his own hands. Look with Touji even though it was the dummy plug Shinji still took it that he hurt him. This time he actully made his Eva do it under his own free will.

N."Yet again, they wait until the Eva is back in its cage before cleaning it off. Of course this time the mess shouldn't be as big."
L.Again for data perhaps? Plus I don't think that they have mobile Eva cleaner around?

N."The technicians say that due to Kaoru's AT field, they can't figure out whats happenening in Terminal Dogma. Then why are they able to detect Rei's AT field down there? Kaoru's AT field should have blocked everything out."
L.Perhaps the statement "Its as strong as the last!" I'm sure if it was equal something would have come in. Then again just a guess.

Ep.25
N."When they star examining Asuka, it says part 1. Since there is no part 2, why did they bother calling it part 1?"
L.I think it has to do with the obvious lack of money at the end of the series?

N."Why didn't Misato want to see her having sex with Kaji? Did she think it would change his view point of her? He knows her as someone who drinks a lot and sleeps around; I don't think seeing that would change his view of her."
L.Its one thing to think that she is sleeping around and such. However to see it in action is a whole different ball game.

N."They make the same screw up as episode 7 here. Misato's car is red, not blue. Of course, since they used the same stock footage, its not surprising. Of course with all the retouching done in this episode, you'd figure they would fix that."

Well there you have it my whole rebuttal to some of the key nitpicks. I know that none of this is needed but I thought some people would enjoy it. Perhaps it could be used for the "Dummies" book if anyone so wishes it to be. Enjoy! ^_^
