Photobucket - Video and Image HostingUS Report: Notorious Prison Closed

This article relates to the Jessup Prison which was closed on Monday March 19. On March 2nd a Police Correction officer was killed which prompted the closing of the maximum security prison. The prison is 128 years old and has become one of the most notorious prisons in MD.

One of the principles that relates to this article is principle #3: Rational People think at the Margin. After the three prisoners were killed and a guard was stabbed to death last summer the prison has become more of a concern for both the staff and the inmates. Another principle concerning this article is principle #7: Governments can sometimes improve market outcomes. In this case the invisible hands are the inmates and staff of the Jessup Prison. They need to government to protect from others as well as themselves. The government in this case is also needed t promote the efficiency of the staff being able to do their jobs without fear of being killed. The government also needs to be able to promote equality among inmates and staff. They need to make sure that everyone is safe and treated equally.

I do support this action if people are getting killed then the best idea is to separate the inmates and move them to a more secure location where they can’t hurt anyone. This relates how the government can sometimes help us with issues coincernuing safety. True some people will lose their jobs but like I always say “better safe than sorry.” This also relates to how after something bad continuously happens then its time to do something about it. What can happen is people become unemployed and if they’re unable to find work unemployment rises. Also, the inmates are moved and separate to other prisons and the same problem once again develops. Or, my favorite everyone lives happily ever after.
