busy busy busy!
submitted another wallpaper, under Flame of Recca this time, and with another George Eliot quote ("Deep unspeakable suffering may well be caused a baptism, a regeneration, the initiation into a new state." fits the end of FoR perfectly, actually (oh ho ho, you're confused)). this one was actually started a LOOOONG time ago (actually, this was the first one started for Patita), but given up on when i got stuck on bg and composition. plus, it was taking FOREVER to cut out of it's original bg. anywho. ended up giving up on it, opening it up occasionally to clean a bit and see if i could get any inspiration. and that quote did it. i luuuv litquotes.com!!

   the merry go round broke down! doo doo!
submitted new wallpaper, Saiyuki. that series has some of THE best imagery. crazyness. aaanywho. there's a quote from George Eliot in it. from Silas Marner (not that i've read it, though from the quotes i've heard from Eliot i might pick up a copy). as i'm bored, this is the quote:
"in old days there were angels who came and took men by the hand and led them away from the city of destruction. we see no white-winged angels now. but yet men are led away from threatening destruction: a hand is put into theirs, which leads them forth gently towards a calm and bright land, so that they look no more backward and the hand may be a little child's."
makes me think of Sanzo and Goku, some odd reason. see, the Monkey King was locked away for 500 years for heinous crimes in heaven, right? and who released him from his prison? sanzo! the bit about it being a child is odd to apply to them, but then Goku is a child and leads Sanzo away from destruction, i suppose could work. neither of them are angels, that's for sure.

just got Saiyuki v. 2, so guess what i'm in the mood to do? wallpapers and fanart is correct! i knew mama didn't raise no fools (don't mock my use of southern idioms--i AM a southerner, much as i am loathe to admit it =_=;;). so yes. i'm going to go doodle some Monkey King goodness (have you read that legend, by the by? very good in my opinion, i read Arthur Waley's translation published as Monkey. very good myth! (fable, legend, fairy tale, whatever you want to call it)).

trottin', trottin', trottin' in place, YEAH!
saw Shrek 2. quite enjoyable. laughed my butt off, through the whole thing. antonio banderas voiced Puss in Boots. makes you wonder as to what he looked like while making the hairball noises. animation considering the elements (of nature) was fantastic, and their handling of hair and fabric was quite impressive. go go, mr. director (whose name i've forgotten--sorry!)

O.o crapola.
yeaaah... final exams next week. O_________o death in chemistry is emminent. buuuut i DO get out of my art history, u.s. history, and english exams. we loooove ap exams just for that. anywho. won't be around much for about a week, just a heads up. hopefully, i'll have some form of art for you next weekend. i know you're clamoring for it ::rolls eyes:: i'm gonna go keep singing variations on the little rhyme i found... somewhere. "waddle waddle shake shake, waddle shake waddle!" etc.

guuuuuh... falling asleep. can't focus...
so. Del Rey, a pretty mainstream fantasy publsiher stateside and a branch of Random House has started printing mangas stateside, starting with a Gundam Seed thing, Negimagi (?) by Ken something. same guy as Love Hina. and also Reservoir Chrnoicle Tsubasa and XXXholic by CLAMP. i got Tsubasa, and enjoyed it pretty well, and really liked how Del Rey went at it, leaving honorifics and having a guide to them, and some translation notes in the back. so go them. sadly, they're doing one load better than Viz does for some of theirs, and considering Viz has been devoted to manga for several years i think, well... yes. hm. there's the Tokyopop commercial again. tee hee.

also, i heard a rumor that Toonami on Cartoon Network is getting the Flame of Recca anime in 2005. does anyone ANYONE have any news on this??? i'm obsessed, i know, but if Recca goes to Toonami, some of the best moments will be edited out (like the Fuuko breast touch (too tired to explain it. if you're curious, ask and ye shall receive)! and i don't even KNOW how they'll handle Fujimaru...)
