that is, if you haven't gotten your flu shot. the 2 companies that make the vaccine have announced that all 80 million doses are gone. there's still a wide supply of FluMist or whatever, but it's more expensive. better than nothing i guess. bwaha hahaa, i got my shot! pbb!

these are 2 of my student statements for my gov. school apps. wanna tell me if they're okay or if they suck? pweez?

Student’s statement: visual arts

Have you ever had a feeling deep down in your gut that you didn't understand but you just knew? That’s why I draw. Art has been what I’ve wanted to do since I was three years old and sitting two inches from the television watching Peter Pan for the millionth time. It’s been my dream all my life to be an animator for Disney feature animated films one day, and I believe Governor's School can help me get closer to that goal. I have always drawn and doodled, and was actually in a couple art classes when I was really little. I like graphite and oil based medias, like oil sticks or oil paints. I have a lot of control with oil paints and with oil sticks, I found myself able to do a lot of different things and get a lot of great effects I didn’t know I could get. I’d be the first to admit that I’ve never really been recognized for my art. I got a certificate last year from when I was at Little Rock Central High School for Drawing I last year. I’m also in the National Art Honors Society. In short, I want art to be my life. I want people to go to the movies with their kids to the newest animated flick and see my name anywhere from the top director's spot to the last name on a long list of clean-up artists. I want to inspire more people in the same way I was.


Student’s statement: language arts

It’s always strange to go into some of my classes and listen to a lot of my classmates complaining about the essay we have to write. I’m that weird kid in class that says with an incredulous expression, “What? I like essays!” And I do. It started when my seventh grade geography teacher told me I wrote really good essays, and for some reason that made me immeasurably proud, and it still does. Reading and writing have always been an integral part of who I am, and I can honestly say I cannot remember a time when I couldn’t read. I’m not the greatest in this field and I know that there are so many people that are better writers than I am. I’ve always made pretty good grades in my English classes, but I still have a lot to learn about the English language. I think that attending Governor’s school under this field would help me to keep the language arts part of my life.

got inducted into National Honors Society about an hour ago. it was fun, i guess. every last one of us bungled the oath-thingy though. it was funny. 'in the fields of scholarship, somethin blah blah.' yeah. you had to be there i guess. as the principal put it, it was something 'that i will remember for a long time to come.'

   eh.
doo doo doo. how i looove me some blu raspberry dum dums... yumm. Kouga went up. yup. FINALLY had an idea for my drawing assignment. as soon as the next one is assigned of course. guugh. ah well. still haven't panicked with all that homework crap. figured i would by now. ::shrug:: saw something odd in friend's Newtype magazine. rumiko takahashi did character designs for some anime or another recently. must be a trend. or a 2 thing coincidence (gungrave character designs were yasuhiro nightow). either way character design is my dream job. i can't do decent costume designs though so. ah well. there's... something i should be doing now. i can't remember though. i think... nope. got nothin.

i chaaanged mah mind!
y'know. i think i actually LIKE A Christmas Story. before i had only seen the bit with that Santa where he shoved the kid down the slide with his foot and a couple other scraps, but i actually saw a good chunk of it earlier because i really didn't like the fact that i'd said i didn't like the movie when i'd only seen that bit. anyway. onto other christmas movies. know which one i want them to show? Scrooge. you know. that old musical. really old. it's where that 'thank you very much' song came from. another song that comes to mind is the 'i like life' song w/the ghost of x-mas present. it was fun. but they didn't show it last year! grr. arrgh. and we can't find it on dvd. it's on vhs i think, but we don't have a vcr. it died year before last and we just haven't bought a new one. so yeah.

   oh man.
yeah. remember that whole list of stuff i promised to do over thanksgiving break? i did maybe 3 items on it. nope. just checked. i did two. and i really should be freaking out about it by now. but i'm not. eh. guess i'm kinda at that stage of panic where you're kinda floating in la-la land thinking 'huh. that's bad.' y'know. where it's all surreal i suppose... i'm sure reality will come crashing down around me soon in a tidal wave of despair and hopelessness... anyway i got the main thing (sci project) done nearly. i just have to do my graph and then i'm finished with it. guess after i finish that i'll go finish reading the things they carried. or not. probably the latter.

bad thing about x-mas: all the good stuff comes out around now! x-2, Pirates, Finding Nemo (sorta), all i can think of, etc etc.

enough of that! you know what cartoon i would LOVE to see a score from? Samurai Jack. i know a lot of people hate it (i don't see why. i flat out adore it; genndy tartakovsky is friggin cool, he did the clone wars thing too) anyway, that show has THE best music i've seen in an american made one for a while. course i'm just an instrumental freak. but i already told you that.

i post on such random things. i must seem a bit of a ditz from it, but i'm not. ... what? i'm not! really! ::grumbley grumble::
