i are smrat.
finally figured out what 'confidence in my lines' means (from way back in february at a portfolio day, one school said this and i was mystified). it's like, knowing WHERE you want your lines to go, instead of just placing them everywhere and fixing it later. this was also a thing gov school tried to teach us, now i think about it. maybe that's why we only ever worked in charcoal (can't really erase)... anywho. submitted new fanart in trying to make myself do this. did alright, but was a bit awkward on placing the top of the head (clickit). i erased the few faded lines from my shammy when i was fixing the smudges i made when scanning it. that should teach me to scan charcoal w/o spraying it w/fixative. yes indeed. actually, what made it click was this drawing over at fred gallagher's art site (y'know, piro from megatokyo? the man's got a name you know, and considering he's as successful as he is, might as well use the real one). see? webcomics DO teach you things.
