hmm.
you know, in animation, there is an actual position devoted to checking the shape of the mouth in speech and making sure the timing of the dialogue is right. called dialogue checker i think, or something. whoever did it in the king and i or whatever it's called didn't seem to be doing there job very well. course from what i can tell, the animation jerks a bit, so the budget was probably tiny. and it's hard to animate singing, i'll bet, from the way the mouth contorts and all. but there are some useless bits in it. like the grand vizier. it's a good story w/o the stupid discernable villian, and one that kids could appreciate. poor rodgers and hammerstein, they'd be rolling over in their graves to see something that cliched in their musical. so far, i'm annoyed.
