Why anime sucks by A.N. Roman
i got the fallowing from a guy on a site named J-Syxx, this is what he said:

"Received this by e-mail today, just felt like sharing. Gives you a window into the mind of some of the anti-nerds who hate anime. Not surprisingly, this guy is a huge nerd himself, actually discussing on his web-journal my 2 sentence e-mail that sprarked this reply. I e-mailed him because of his Amazon.com listmania that said, "DBZ is the reason why I hate all anime." This was his e-mail:

Starting out a message with "LOL"...this is going to go well already. Cyborg 009 is nothing but another pitiful attempt at anime that no one paid attention to and for good reason. Sealab 2021...you're probably a middle schooler if you like that s***. And yes, I do hate all anime, DBZ being the worst offender. Do I really have to give reasons as to why it's stupid? Just because you were so nice enough to take time out of your own day and give it to me, I think I will.

P**** battles (j-syxx's note, edited reference to male anatomy). Good guy has big p****. Bad guy has bigger p****. Good guy gets bigger penis and beats bad guy. Really, this happens a lot, especially in Dragonball Z, Inu Yasha and most Gundams. Power levels, whether they be superpowers or power of someone's equipment, is really just a metaphor for how big the characters' penises are. Dragonball Z is an obvious example. Inu Yasha is another one. At first the show was about Inu Yasha overcoming unusual odds with innovative tactics and the help of Kagome, but later the series has him winning battles by gaining new powers. That's not good writing, that's a cop-out. Gundam is another offender, as the show is usually about the bad guy and good guy arguing over who has the better mobile suit.
-The average show is not greatly enhanced by numerous shots of the female lead's panties or t*** (note, reference to female anatomy).
-Random lapses into chibism. This almost killed Kenshin for me.
-When they don't count when the person is down on a tournament. Yu Yu Hakusho mastered this.
-When they repeat the every single plot point 900 times per episode.
-That in Anime World, girls age 12 - 15 wear a D-cup.
-Hell, the fact that most characters in anime either really young or really old. How about we have somebody who has been out of puberty for a few years be the hero for once?
-The fact that something as physically and psychologically damaging as rape is treated so lightly.
-The fact that anime has a fan base that will regard anything anime as being perfect and infinitely superior to every other form of media.
-He's dead! Oh wait, nevermind. NOW he's dead! Oh wait, nevermind. Biggest offender here is DBZ.
-The squealers. It's like 90% of all girls in anime have 8-year-olds' voices.
-The typical fanboys/fangirls: "WAAAIIIII!!! Watarshi wa kaWAYEE DESUU!!!! Neko neko sugoi oishii watashi wa ushi!!!" B****, if you don't speak Japanese, don't [expletive] try to speak Japanese.
-10 episode fights.
-250 pound men who cosplay 14 year old catgirls. Scrawny, acne ridden 33 year olds who cosplay 19 year old flamboyant sex icons and WHINE AND WHINE AND WHINE about totally stupid s*** like who's prettier Sammy or Ryoko oh my god I can't believe you think Sammy I'm going to totally Moon Tiara Magic you to the next dimension as soon as I stop huddling like a little fetus in the corner of the merchandise hall, clutching at my plushy dolls and cds and t-shirts and my precious precious DVDs oh if only I had thought of that comeback in junior year when Jerry and the rest of the gang drew a penis on my face oh jesus Shinji you're the only one who understands me hi can i get a large order of fries stop making fun of me im not making fun of you im calling the manager call the f******* manager i don't care
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

So thank you for wasting time just to email me and tell me how stupid you are for watching things on Cartoon Network. This shows how superior you are to me, because I am so much of a loser that I don't watch s****y cartoons that only people that touch themselves under the covers with a Gundam model watch. You have been subscribed to the Will Smith mailing list. Have fun beating off to anime and going to conventions dressed up as Sailor Goku."

-A.N. Roman
this is what i say: f***k you A.N. Roman.

Anime Expo Japan
Anime Expo Japan? A lot of North American fans are perplexed about why the SPJA is trying to hold an Anime Expo in Japan. Japan is after all the home of Anime and Manga and already has Anime and Manga conventions with attendance figures in the hundreds of thousands. True, North American conventions are slightly different from Japanese conventions, but there must be something more to it, some other explanation as to why an American Fan group would try to bring its convention to the home of Anime.

Well there is more to it than just that, it’s called Worldcon.

The SPJA (Society for the Promotion of Japanese Animation) is a California based non profit organization. The purpose of the SPJA is to promote and educate Americans about Anime and Manga and provide an event, Anime Expo (AX), to foster communication between professionals and fans.

The SPJA was founded in the early 1990's and AX was first held in 1992. Today, AX is the largest Anime convention in North America. The 11th AX in 2002 brought in roughly 15,000 fans. This year the SPJA ran not only Anime Expo in Long Beach California, but also Anime Expo New York (AXNY).

The purpose behind AXNY was to help promote Anime in the world’s largest media market, New York City. AXNY, according to a post by Mike Tatsugawa(CEO of the SPJA), was also used as a training ground for staff for the first Anime Expo to take place in Tokyo in 2004, AXJapan.

Believe it or not, it was actually a Japanese group that approached the SPJA and not the other way around. In late 1999 or early 2000, a group of anime and science fiction fans in Japan approached the SPJA for assistance in hosting a World Con in Japan in 2007.

The World Science Fiction Convention, otherwise known as World Con, is the oldest continually running literary science fiction convention in the world. Its purpose is to promote science fiction writing and storytelling. It was founded in the early 1930's and has never been held in Asia. The 2002 convention (ConJosé) took place in San Jose California and attracted approximately 4000 or 5000 attendees.

The committee for the Nippon 2007 Worldcon Bid wants to obtain experience operating a North American fan run convention. In fact, in order to host a Worldcon, they would probably need that experience. To obtain this first hand experience in Japan, they have asked the assistance of the SPJA to host an Anime Expo in Tokyo. Members of the Japan WorldCon bid have done panels in the last three years at Anime Expo discussing science fiction in Japan, and their goal of having a WorldCon in their home country.

The SPJA and the committee for the Nippon 2007 Worldcon Bid have both registered their respective domains for Anime Expo Japan. The SPJA has registered axjapan.org, while the committee for the Nippon 2007 Worldcon Bid has registered axtokyo.org. Currently neither domain has a functional website, but both should have websites up and running in the near future.

killer 7 saying
Publisher Capcom Entertainment at its Producer Day event just two days before E3 2004 showed off a new trailer for its upcoming action-thriller Killer 7, which is scheduled to debut on GameCube in the US later this year and in Europe next year. (A PlayStation 2 version, also in development, will debut next year around the globe.)

Let's get the bad news out of the way now: Killer 7 was unfortunately not playable at the Producer Day and according to Capcom it will not be playable at E3 2004, either. Though the development team is hard at work on the game, it's still not quite ready to be shown in such advanced form.
That noted, the new trailer for the game was -- as always -- intriguing and impressive, even if it was incredibly difficult to understand. The stylistic footage, a couple new minutes of footage, once more demonstrated a stylistic blend of cel-shaded graphics and extreme gore.

"The master is awake," a deep, synthetic voice explained the montage kicked off. Press on hand caught a glimpse of Harmon Smith, the game's main character, as he rolled his wheelchair down a hallway, and then the action cut to a man who carried a briefcase and talked on the phone. What followed were fast-flash sequences that depicted first-person shooting and third-person exploration and battles, all doused with excessive amounts of blood.

It seems as though Capcom itself has yet to entirely figure Killer 7 out. There can be no doubt that the title's artsy presentation is jaw-droppingly gorgeous and the more IGN learns about the story, the more we find ourselves intrigued. But like everyone else we're still waiting for a tangible piece of controllable gameplay, which has yet to surface. Based on the latest video, however, it seems as though Capcom will stick with the mix of third-person exploration, a setup that enables players to choose branching paths for their characters to walk instead of flat-out maneuvering them, and first-person shooter scenarios.
