Hey everyone. I know I ment to post last night but didnt, sorry. Got busy watching the new kitten. He's a handful! Anyways, I was gunna tell you guys everything tomarrow, kk. I just figured I should put this story up.
A Gift from the Heart
Sora was a nervous wreck.
Clutching the carefully wrapped gift close to his chest, the brunette stood in front of the entrance of a peach colored two-story house. The mayor's house. Her house. Sure, he's been to the place loads of time—he practically lived there. But, it was different now.
Riku had help him get ready for the event; picking out his clothes, wrapping the present, reminding Sora to not get lost on the way. To the blue-eyed boy's dismay, his friend refused to accompany him to her house. She's your light, he said. You have to do this on your own. Besides, I already gave her my present.
The only probably with that, Sora discovered, was that for some reason he couldn't bring himself to ring the doorbell. Or knock on the door. Or make any slight noise that might disturb the quiet atmosphere. So, instead, he had been standing at the front door, silently praying that a thunder storm would suddenly form and force him to retreat back to Riku's house. It was safe there, and the silver-haired boy had cookies.
Yet, wasn't this childish? Sora matured since the day when the three of them first planned the trip on the raft, hadn't he? Just staying there and gawking like an idiot at a door was... was... stupid. He was better than that, right?
Wrong.
Even after the brunette reached a decison, his hand was going nowhere near that doorbell. Maybe he could run away? He could always try sending a letter to the King, asking him if he needed some extra help at the castle. And Yuffie did say that he was a member of the reconstruction commitee, didn't she? Hey, maybe Sebastion needed help with another musical!
While contemplating his various ways of escape, Sora failed to notice the door open slightly. Kairi blinked, watching the boy yammer on and on about different worlds; she giggled. "What are you doing, Sora?"
His face flushed to a color that matched the girl's hair, Sora stopped midsentence in his ramblings. "W-what! Kairi, how long have you been—"
"Long enough," she answered, fully opening the door. "What's that?" she added, spotting the package in the boy's hand.
"This?" he fumbled with the gift before thrusting it into her arms. "Happy birthday, Kairi!"
"Thank you," Kairi said. Gingerly, she unwrapped the present. To her surprise, a minature Oathkeeper keychain fell into her palm, glistening from the light the sun radiated upon it. "Oh, wow."
"Do you like it?" Sora asked sheepishly.
The girl nodded slowly. One second later, Sora found himself being hugged by Kairi. Blushing once more, Sora stood still as she pulled away from him, a smile on her lips.
"I love it."
Sora was a nervous wreck.
Especially around the girl he loved.
Hope ya liked it!!
♥ always,
