Anybody else missing half of the buttons in the backroom? Maybe I should report that.

Anyways, summing up all of the MyO Idol info so far.

What can you SING (yes sing, no playing instruments)?

Generally, you can sing anything, technically we're not even restricting the language barrier. Though uh... we do ask you to send in the original version of the song along with your voiceover in order for us to compare and judge properly. Oh, and no rap, or cursing. We all have potential for linguistic feats, but this is about singing, not poetry.

How am I supposed to record myself?

Well, that depends on what you have at hand, and/or how much money you're willing to spend. I met a "professional" (these guys do it for fun and not money >.> weirdos) fansub person at a convention, and he suggests that everyone go out and get top shelf recording software and a studio microphone. I however, say go to

http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=6235

(Oh yeah, singled it out for ease of highlighting). Once you have that, grab yourself a microphone (if you have one already, SU~PER). If you don't have a microphone (then what's wrong with you!? I kid, I kid) there are a few solutions. Go down to your local music shop and buy one ($20 at most, don't let them rip you off), bug a friend who has one to let you use it until you're done (exactly what I'm doing this time), or... I don' know, record it on a camera or something and audacity should be able to grab the sound file from it. Then, with mic in hand (preferably somewhere near the mouth region) sing to your heart's content (you did press record right? -.- do it all over again). Save to mp3 format, and e-mail it to me.

But, sir, what is your e-mail?

Well... you people on here should know where the link to e-mail someone is on someone's site. But, on the off chance that some of you aren't as observant as others, send the file in an attachment to me at brian.prater.06@cnu.edu Again, please be discrete, I open these e-mails in class and I don't need something overly embarrassing being spotted by women I may be wooing (wooing's the word, courting would require looking for an actual relationship [there was no reason to say that] just educating the masses [or making us look bad] look) Back on subject. A simple "Hey, how ya doin'?" or "What're you wearing" will be just fine. If the lyrics seem a little hard to understand... (sing a new son[WHACK]) please provide me with the lyrics in text format in the e-mail.

How are we bing judged oh great and powerful one?

That's an easy one, you judge yourselves. (What, wouldn't everyone vote for themselves [alla Pirates 3]) You'd think, but just as Cap'n Jack startled everyone, I often don't vote for myself in these situations (so long as we're honestly outdone [yeah, if I feel I'm the best singer, I'm voting for me] We voted for Angel Zakuro last time [>.> we probably shouldn't say that, it was a tie... we made it that way!?] crud -.-) Ok ok, voting is also open to the masses though (that would be everyone that visits your sites, and possibly more!), so the votes will certainly outnumber the participants (unless some freak accident/miracle happens and EVERYONE somehow participates).

Anything else?

When is the deadline for sending in our production?

I've set it for mid March, I'll be off in Belgium from the 7th to the... 17thish, maybe 16th. Either way, I'm REALLY flexible with the deadline. However, when the hammer falls and voting begins, there will be no more entrees. Besides, does it really take a month to record a song?

Why is the deadline so far away for submitting a song?

Look, some of us lead busy lives (granted, I know a few who don't), but really, the deadline is out there because we give time for advertizing to get around (remember, I count on you guys to get the word out, since admins can't spare time with the change over to version vibrant! [I really don't get that name by the way] save it for a ranting time). Anyways, mid to late March is when everything is due.

Are bribes expec(woah!) *ahem* accepted?

No, and no. What for anyways? I can't hedge the votes, and I most certainly can't make you sound better (yes we can [shatup O.o]). Here's one thing though, I notice people are more likely to vote for the person who's site they listen to the songs on (unless there's a skill gap, in which case popularity doesn't win over [w00t for bumbing the system!] yeah uh... woot...), so, place the playlist on your site for voting from your visitors, and the odds are in your favor for their votes. Mind you, everyone will do this, so it's only a slight advantage (specially for... people who get a LOT more visits than some of us [too bad I can't point digital fingers... *points at refi-chan and angelZ] well, maybe I can).

Playlist?

OH yeah, the playlist with all of the entrees on it will be hosted through imeem. That being said, a lot of people seem to not have access to it (mainly cause they're surfing instead of doing classwork [*highfive!*]). This obstructs a lot of votes, so go ahead and refer those people to me if you want, and I'll e-mail them the mp3 files with all the songs. A little risky, but I'll go that far for my contest. Another problem with imeem... their !@#$ing song cuts. I have to find a clever way to name the songs so that it isn't tagged as a popular (or copyrighted) song and gets the full song cut down to a 30 second snippit. They did that to my rendition of Margarittaville, even though I renamed it MyOrittaville and I don't sound a thing like Mr. Buffet.

S'that it? It's 1:40 here and I've got 2 quizes tomorrow... back to back. Yeah, I'll call it now. Any other questions feel free to PM me. If you want the condensed version...

Deadline: Mid to late March
Format for sending: mp3 file to brian.prater.06@cnu.edu
Song type: Anything but rap, and nothing with excessive vursing
Advertizing: Yeah, go back a few posts and grab one of the wonderful posters sent in by past contestants. Slap it up on your site and refer people to me.
