My Shadow-Poem


My Shadow

Amongst the people in the crowd

I saw a shadow standing proud



It followed me back home that night

And tucked me in snug and tight



It held my hand across the street

On the bus it saved me a seat



It comforted me when I wanted to cry

It stood by me and helped me fly




When it disappeared I lost my hope

But I tied a knot at the end of my rope



I held on tight to stay awake

The pain of my loss I could not take



But that day as I was walking home

I saw that I was not alone



It was not gone just letting me see

That it was still there watching over me
