I thought you might be interested in this...
I wind up answering these kinds of questions all the time. The question is, do you read manga in public, and if so, how do people react. I was wondering if anyone else had emberassing things like this happen to you.

I don't care if people see me reading manga but damn if I bring anything out of the house with ONE freaking drawing that could be misunderstood if someone doesn't ask to see what I'm reading. Then I'm praying quietly while they flip through it that they don't see that shot where the guy attempts to rape his girlfriend or they fall into an awkward position. I don't want to come off as a perv when I'm not... Or even worse something like Petshop of Horrors with all that violence and the seemingly gay Count D. It's very cultural. I understand right away that one pose like that doesn't mean you're reading porn, but it's hard to explain to people who aren't initiated.

On another note, I don't read yaoi, but I happen to own one series (Cafe Kichijouji de) that is bound like a yaoi manga. I had to explain that I'm not a yaoi fangirl all day. TT_TT I was flipping through the book, "Look it's a bishie comedy, I swear!" They all laughed at me.
