   Yaaarrrrgggghhh!!!

Oh... it's not Friday. I may not be able to be a pirate if it's not Friday.

I wanna go home!!!! *sigh* But I'm stuck here at least two & a half hours yet. The idiot that comes in at 11:00 usually comes in late. Then he insists that I stay at the desk while he goes to check something. I just want to go home!!!! *growl*

Otherwise, it's been a somewhat hectic day here in motel-hell. People and activity have been coming in bunches. It's not fun that way. Tomorrow night will be nice and boring. I'll be able to do stuff on my own laptop then. Whee!!!

   Mellow day

Well, Thursday is fast ending here. I had it off. Originally I was supposed to work tonight, but ended up working Monday instead. I was glad because I am so used to having Thursday off.

So, what excitement did I have today? Hmm...

1. It snowed. Only about an inch or so, but still enough that I had to shovel the walk and a little bit around my car. Wore me out!
2. Went to the bank. It was payday today. Had to deposit the pittance.
3. Did laundry. No big surprise there, eh?
4. Worked at my kanji flash cards while doing laundry.
5. Walked back downtown to find something for supper. I didn't feel like anything we had in the refrigerator or freezer. And I didn't want another sandwich!
6. Goofed off with my brother for a few hours. Always a good thing.
7. Got on the computer and here I am.

What did I not do today?
1. Try to get the wireless to hook up to the DSL. I was just way too brainless to deal with that. Didn't want to tie up the phone line talking to tech support. Didn't want to think about it at all. Actually, all I used my laptop for today was to read a little manga and as a $800 jukebox!

As for yesterday's comments about wanting a decent taco...

Monday my mom asked what I wanted for lunch for work. I replied "TACOS!" I've been really hungry for tacos for at least a week. So, I had the little psycho go to Taco Hell for me and get a softshell taco kid's meal. I gave him a $10 bill. He came back with $1.49 in change. I looked at the receipt and saw that they charged me for a drink when the drink is included in the kid's meal. The $1.49 was the amount they charged for a drink. I sent him back to get the rest of the change, which they did give back. There's no way that one kid's meal costs $8.51! Anyhoo... on to the tacos: THEY WERE ABSOLUTELY 100% STONE COLD!!!!!!! Yes, it was as if they took the tacos out of the refrigerator and stuck them in the bag! Fortunately we have a microwave so I could warm them up. But reheated lettuce is nasty! On the back of the receipt is a thing where you can either call or go online to fill out a survey to win $1000. I went online and told the corporate people exactly what type of experience I had. It was the latest in a long line of cold food from that particular Taco Bell. There's another one in a different part of SUX that always has hot food. Even if you go through the drivethru at 2:00 in the morning, the food is hot! Once I stopped there after work and grabbed a burrito. I figured I'd have to nuke it when I got home. I live about 25 miles from that Taco Bell, and when I got home a half hour later, IT WAS STILL HOT! Something tells me, I won't be going to the Hamilton Boulevard Taco Bell any more.

Wow. That really turned out to be a long rant, didn't it? Oh well...

Time for me to stop this craziness and go to my room.

   $@%*&&&*@#%$!!!!!!!!!

Well, that subject line should sum up what I feel right now. I just spent another hour of futility in trying to get my laptop to hook up to the wireless part of the DSL modem. Tonight it didn't even acknowledge the existence of the thing. One of the things my connection checking software told me to do was "move the laptop closer to the wireless point." Well, my laptop couldn't be any closer to the wireless point without being on top of the desktop computer! So, I finally gave up. I may have to call tech support tomorrow and ask if they're going to charge us for the tech support before I go any farther with it. I'd really like to be able to get it working so I can be downstairs where I can have TV going for noise while online.

All in all, Wednesday wasn't too bad a day. I had the day off. Yay. I got through that bag of junk on my file cabinet. Sorted it out and filed stuff. Threw a bunch of stuff away. Set aside a bunch of stuff to be shredded. I could have done laundry as well, but that would leave me with nothing to do on Thursday... except try to get the laptop to hook up to the internet. Right now, I think I'd rather poke my eye out with a stick. Oh yeah, almost forgot. I got my new FMA calender in the mail today! Whee! Another year of Ed!!!

And I still would like some decent tacos...

   Shiny happy fun post!

Well, that subject line is a load of crap! I'm mostly bored, slightly cold, and ready to go home and sleep. It's only 7:30 pm.

It was really nice out again today. Still more melting, but I haven't heard or felt any dripping water from above my head right now.

I think tomorrow, I'm going to go through a plastic bag of crap that's been sitting on my filing cabinet and see what can be filed and what can be shredded. Then I might try to get some progress made on getting the laptop to hook up to the modem wirelessly. If that's successful, I will take a picture of the flying pigs!

That's about it from me. I think I will wander off and either read manga or play with Japanese stuff.

   I really wish I was elsewhere...

...but, alas, I am at work. I was supposed to have tonight off, but Lirpa called in sick. *sigh* I really don't mind, because I would rather have Thursday off instead. Actually, I'd rather have Friday off, but that ain't gonna happen.

Well, the ceiling is still leaking. I keep feeling drops on my back. There's at least 3 inches of snow up on the roof yet, so this is going to be doing this all winter. *insert complete lack of enthusiasm here* Yay.

My cold is still being a pain. I got settled in bed last night, got really comfy and BOOM! A coughing fit hit me. *growl* Same thing around 6:00 am. *sigh* Anyone want this cold?

I was going to get out my laptop, but I've been busy enough with stuff here that I'm not going to even bother. It's actually kind of nice to be able to get stuff done around here that needs to be done. It's even better when there is something to be done. Slow nights can be very frustrating.

Well, I believe I will wander off and read the rest of my email now. Then I will probably end up doing some more work. How cool is that?

   Oh man... I hate coughing.

Well, the cold still has me in its grip. I woke up around 4:00 this morning to go to the bathroom. Then spent the next hour lying or sitting in bed coughing. *grrr*

Not much is happening right now. I'm at work and am not quite bored yet. Haven't pulled out the flash cards yet. I'm also sitting here hoping that the storm waits until after I'm home to hit here. We're supposed to get what slammed the West Coast yesterday to drop some rain on us late tonight and into tomorrow. Great. Then the temperature will drop and that will all turn to ice! And it's supposed to snow on Tuesday. *sigh* I really hate this type of winter. Ice then snow... Ice then snow... Ice then snow... It's such a pain in the arse.

Well, I think it's time to hack up a lung again for a while. Whee...

Great. The little psycho just noticed a spot on the ceiling right above me. I just checked it out. It's a wet spot. Wonderful... the nice weather today melted stuff on the roof and it's leaking!

   Touched by His Noodly Appendage...

Well, not quite 7:30 on a Saturday night. I'm at work. I'm very nearly bored out of my skull. I've got a cold that has decided to sort of settle into my chest, so I'm coughing and trying hard not to lose my voice. Of course the little psycho is driving me up a wall as is his wont. He's overstating the obvious over and over.

I've been working on my kanji flash cards and just finished up the last of the single kanji ones. I've just got all the words to go through now. Then I can consider another chapter of my kanji book finished. Hooray. I think it's taken me about a month to do. Not hooray. But that is still way better than the 3 or 4 months it took to do one chapter in the grammar/language book over the summer! That was seriously bad.

The DSL at home is sweet. So much faster than that old dialup. My brother & I did manage to successfully network our laptops to each other last night. That's great and all, but we still can't get anywhere with the wireless connecting to the DSL modem. We connect to the internet, but can't do any browsing at all. We need to log into the thing somehow. That's all we have to figure out and I think we'll be all right to go from there.

Well, I think I will play around with the flashcards some more. Still have 3.5 hours of my shift left. *sigh* I hope J***y isn't late tonight.

   It's madness! Shear madness, I tell you!!!!

Well, Thursday is almost over for me. I've got 15 minutes of it left. Other than the obvious Thursday chore, something wonderful happened.

We got DSL!

Yep. No more dialup at home for me! However... there's one small thing that's frustrating me about our shiny new DSL. It's got wireless capability in the house. The guy enabled it right away when he installed the DSL. I just spent over an hour trying to get my laptop to connect to it, but it just can't find the signal. So, I finally gave up and came upstairs to use the big old desktop beasty. I'd much rather have my laptop working, because I can do stuff there that I don't have on this thing. My silly laptop can pick up the signals from my neighbors' houses, but not the one in our own house! *sigh* What's a girl to do?

Well, that's about it for now. I'm just hanging out here until someone comes in here and tells me to go to bed. I may just go to bed before that happens too. There's other stuff I could be doing! Like sleeping...

First post of the year.

I just had a really low-key New Years Day. I had the day off, so I watched a little bit of the Rose Parade. Too many commercials on the networks. My mom & I were very disappointed in that. Then I went channel hopping and found more of it on HGTV... with no commercials! Argh. And it was just the very end of the parade. *sigh*

Then we had our traditional New Years Day lunch: grilled cheese sandwiches made by my dad! As long as I can remember, that's been lunch on New Years Day. Even when I worked in the bookstore and had to work on New Years Day, I would go down to Target and order one from their little cafe.

I was going to spend the afternoon working on my kanji cards, but ended up seriously distracted by a hockey game on TV! Funny how hockey can distract me like that.

Now, it's almost midnight, and I am seriously cold right now. I'm considering going up to my room and snuggling under the covers. Sleep will probably follow that within an hour or so. Yeah. I think that's what I'll do. Nighty night!
