Well... I am frustrated again. It doesn't take much. I put myself into this mood, so I have no one to blame but myself. Too much is going on for me to explain here. I don't want to burden you all with my problems, so I'll drop it and go on to something that is hopefully more entertaining.

One thing I forgot to say I did yesterday was that I took advantage of being in Sioux City by myself and sat in the comfy chairs at Barnes & Noble and read Trigun Maximum #5 and Rurouni Kenshin #15. I should've grabbed the next Kenshin right away, but I probably would have lost the comfy chair if I had gone after it and returned.

Speaking of Barnes & Noble.... I turned in an application yesterday and had an interview this afternoon!!!! I really hope I get this job. Keep fingers and toes crossed for me, peoples. Also keep them crossed for any of the other jobs I applied for....

Well, since I'm in such a poopy mood, I may wander away early. Thanks for putting up with this mixed up Kitsune and sorry I didn't hit sites tonight.

Plans for today included getting up around 8:15 or 8:30 so I could get ready and go to Sioux City before lunch and before it got too hot. Well, I slept until almost 9:30 and didn't get there until closer to noon. I went to the mall and filled out a few applications for jobs. I hope one of them will call me back soon!!!!

It was really hot out today. In order to look a little more presentable, I pulled out the khakis and one of my Hawaiian shirts and did the layered thing. I refused to put real shoes on, so I wore my sandals with it!! If that didn't look "professional," I'm sorry. It's too hot to cram my feet into my black Sketchers!

I am so happy! I finally solved that puzzle I've been fighting with over in that other community! I couldn't have done it without the assistance of my brother. He's such a nice guy, even if he tries to deny it. Now I just have to go back to the other puzzle I was working on and get it over with.

Other things that occurred today... Umm... I got help getting my resume redone. Now it's all pretty and classy looking. Hopefully it will get me a job!

Well, my thrill-a-minute lifestyle led me to do a couple loads of laundry today. I also updated my resume. Yay me. I hope it looks better now.

I spent all that time Sunday trying to take care of the issue with the firewall on this beast. I discovered that even though I did a manual uninstall of the firewall, it's STILL here. I did the manual uninstall again this afternoon....
It's STILL here!!!!!!

Quite frankly, it's got me bamboozled.

   Make it stop! It hurts!!!

Sunday night...

My ear hurts again. I think I have an ear infection again. I always have an ear infection, it seems. My right ear hurts so much and so often that I want to cry sometimes. This has been going on for about 6 years now. It never seems to go away completely.

I got the maintenance done on the computer today. So far, it seems to be working. I had to do a manual uninstall of the firewall, because doing the regular uninstall and reinstall didn't do a damn thing except make it so I couldn't get anywhere once I got online.

---

Of course, spending about four hours bending this thing to my will left me little time for the other thing I was going to do today: update the resume! So, I guess that means I have to do it tomorrow... which means I won't get to Sioux City for another day. Arrrgh. Stupid computer is making life complicated. I thought these things were supposed to make life easier!! My sister is gonna be mad at me for not going on Monday!!

   Why did I ever get involved with computers?

Well, I've come to the conclusion that my firewall is the culprit behind all the problems I've been having with this thing freezing up. I've disabled the firewall and things are running rather smoothly! So, I did some snooping around McAfee's website and found instructions for what to do if the computer freezes up after installing the firewall. I printed them out and will give it a shot tomorrow. I have a feeling that a manual uninstall of the thing may become involved. Wish me luck!

Then there's the issue with the missing DLL file error that comes up whenever I go to the Control Panel. It's been going on since I updated the antivirus software. I just spent about a half hour or so in a chat session with a tech support person at McAfee and got instructions to try to take care of that.

Tomorrow will be interesting to say the least.

I was such a mooch today. Remember the other day when I had the list of things relating to my frustration? Well, I mooched gas money off my sister today! Onigiri now has a full belly! I can now go to Sioux City to do some looking at the mall!

This evening after my brother and I scrounged enough popcans together to get another dollar and change for ice cream cones, we wandered over to my sister's house. We picked on her & her husband and the cats. I mooched a few of those frozen thingies that come in plastic tubes off her!!!

Well, 'tis now 12:30 and I've spent perhaps the past three hours doing something or another to find stuff to try to help this pitiful computer out. I just hope that what I found actually helps.

My brother has to work this weekend, so things are just not right. It's weird that he's not here downstairs doing laundry or something. It's just me and the cat right now.

   I hate dialup!!!!

Oh, yes, it's Thursday and I've reassured myself that dialup is not a lot of fun.

Well, last night a nice thunderstorm went whipping through about 10 minutes or so after I got online. I had time to post that little bit, read an email or two, and tell someone on MSN Messenger that I wasn't gonna be able to stick around. It was quite the storm. I shut the computer down and went downstairs. My brother was out on the porch with his digital camera getting video of the storm. He got several minutes of footage, but it was all in variously sized blocks. This is the best of them, even though it looks like a lot of dark. Just keep watching, you'll see some flashes.

It was really kind of fun. I hung out on the porch while he was filming. It was raining really hard and the wind was blowing. I ventured down onto the porch steps to grab a couple hailstones. There wasn't a lot of hail. The ones I grabbed were about the size of a marble or a nickel. One was flat! Then I dropped it and it disappeared into the darkness.

The storm lasted about a half hour or so. I probably could have come back online, but didn't because there was another storm coming right behind. I like thunderstorms!

As for events on Wednesday or today. Not much happened. I did some job hunting stuff Wednesday. Today my brother got up early and we went to LeMars and ran around HyVee and WalMart. At WalMart, we found something cool in the clearance section: Instant messenger attachment thingies for our GBAs!!! Now we can IM each other across the room as we both occupy space in the living room instead of actually talking to each other! How cool is that?

Well... my major accomplishment of the day today was finally taking care of the font issue I was having on this beast of a computer. I contacted a site that helps people with weird computer issues and the guy that runs it said it was probably a registry issue. And it was!! I just fixed the registry and now there are words instead of boxes on things. Yay.

Well, I think I confused the librarian today. I checked out a Tony Hillerman mystery yesterday and a Lemony Snicket book today! I've got the Lemony Snicket book almost done.

Yes, I'm 40 years old and I like the Series of Unfortunate Events books!

Well, I think it may be time to go to bed before 1:30 am!!!

Another thrill-a-minute day that included doing laundry. Seems to be the norm for Mondays.

I found some of my Hero-clix figures and lined them all up on a board. I wanted to see what I have. I went through the Marvel Comics ones, but not the DC Comics ones. I can only find one box of them. I know there's more DC guys... I've got Batman!

Thanks for the words of encouragement after yesterday's post. It means a lot to me. I'll let you in on one of the frustrating things in my life:

1. I need a job.


2. I would like to go to the mall in Sioux City to see if I can get something there.


3. The mall is about 28 miles away.


4. My car needs gas.


5. Gas just shot up to $2.20 a gallon here.


6. I have no money to buy gas.


7. I need a job to get money.


8. Return to item #2 and repeat ad infinitum.

So... you can see why I'm frustrated. I'm also frustrated by the slowness of my computer connection limiting the usability of certain job search websites. The frustration takes over and I end up giving up on the site. It's a vicious cycle.

We watched Appleseed the other night. I thought it was pretty good.

Well, I did make it to a few sites tonight. That's an accomplishment in itself. Will make more headway on visiting soon!
