I'm an airplane!!!!!
Hmm... Sunday evening... 6:55 pm... The mood: sedate.
Last night something happened that has never happened to me before. I got pulled over by a sheriff car! I wasn't speeding. I was actually doing only 55 in a 65 zone. It was very foggy last night after work, so I was driving only 55 to be on the safe side. I was pulling into the town south of my hometown and there's a couple curves on the highway just before town. I tend to go into the left lane (it's a 4 lane highway) on those curves so I don't feel like I'm going to go off the road and down the hill into the gulley and disappear completely. As I'm going around the curves this car is right up behind me. I'm saying to myself, "Does this guy want to go around me? Is he gonna turn at the 4-way stop, too? What's this guy's problem?" I start my turn into the town and the lights start flashing. "Great," I think, "why's this guy pulling me over? I wasn't speeding. Maybe a taillight is out." Well, the guy comes up to my car and blinds me with his flashlight... and starts grilling me about where I've been and where I'm going and if I'd been drinking. I told him I was on my way home from work and don't drink. He was worried that I was drunk because I went across the center line on the curves!!! He took my license and registration to run it. (No other tickets on my record, except maybe that one in Sioux Falls that was actually my nephew's fault!) He came back and gave me a verbal warning. I don't have insurance on my car.... oops. He really was kind of nice about the whole thing and asked if I had been to the hockey game last night because of the hockey stickers in the window of my car. I said I had been to Friday's game. So had he.... but he didn't get a Coach Siciliano bobblehead!
Anyhoo... Long story short: no ticket and I got to talk to a cute sheriff guy that likes hockey.
Speaking of hockey.... a guy that was sitting a few rows in front of us at the game Friday was escorted out of the building by the police. It's probably because he stood on the boards during the Chuck-a-puck thing in the intermission. He was drunk and rather proud of the fact that he was escorted out by the police.
And again... I was watching the police and one was kind of cute. But...neither him nor the sheriff guy are as cute as the one policeman that works the hockey games down in Council Bluffs at the Mid-America Center!!!
Must be the uniforms....
Oh... I almost forgot. My Dad got to come home from the hospital today. He's still coughing a lot, but he looks so much better than he did Thursday. He looked better Friday already, but looks even better today. I was so happy to see him home.
Well, before this thing loses connectivity one more time, I do believe I'm going to wander off.
It's been surreal!
Laters!
