   Catch and Release
I captured a marble-sized hailstone yesterday afternoon and held it captive in my freezer for a while. Later on I decided to free it by putting it in the planter on my balcony. I checked later and it wasn't there. I hope it managed to find its fellow hailstones and will lead a long productive life in the wild.

But on a more serious note... in the past week, there have been some really serious storms go through. Two small towns have literally been whiped off the map: Bradgate, Iowa, and Hallam, Nebraska. I consider it fortunate that all we had here in Council Bluffs was a nice lightning show and a good amount of rain, but I wish all the people of those two little towns the best.
