~Tenten (テンテン, Tenten) (romanized as Ten Ten in the English anime) In some foreign subtitles, Tenten has been referred to as Ama, from the term "Ama kudari", which means "descending from heaven". This has caused some fans to mistakenly conclude that "Ama" is her last name.
The name "Tenten" means here and there. Repeating the same syllable twice is a popular naming scheme for pandas; her odango hairstyle also resembles panda ears. "Tenten" can also refer to the small double marks that appear on Japanese hiragana and katakana to change the pronunciation of certain characters (for example, "ta" [た] becomes "da" [だ] with the addition of "tenten").
In an interview in the Second Official Databook, Kishimoto stated that, out of the four central Konoha kunoichi, Tenten would be his type "because [he likes] her design."
Tenten (テンテン, Tenten?) (romanized as Ten Ten in the English anime) is a fictional character in the anime and manga series Naruto. In some foreign subtitles, Tenten has been referred to as Ama, from the term "Ama kudari", which means "descending from heaven".
In an interview in the Second Official Databook, Kishimoto stated that, out of the four central Konoha kunoichi, Tenten would be his type "because [he likes] her design."Originally a Genin level ninja who graduated the academy a year before Naruto did, Tenten is a student of Might Guy together with Rock Lee and Neji Hyuga. Not much is known about her techniques, other than that they involve the mastery of weaponry – Tenten is an expert in the use of many kinds of melee and throwing weapons, which she summons from scrolls when needed. Might Guy has stated that she never misses with her weapons. In fact, in a senbon needle-throwing practice exercise, she hit the bull's-eye 100 out of 100 times. Her favored method of attack is to throw her scrolls in the air in such a way as to cause them to spin above her, then jump between them and toss a myriad of weapons at her opponent in rapid succession, otherwise known as Twin Rising Dragons. She also uses strings to control and guide the direction of her weapons. However, this technique is useless against opponents who use wind attacks, as seen in her short and arguably pointless battle against Temari.
Tenten feels very strongly about both her teammates, speaking highly of Neji's talent and natural 'genius', and could be seen staring with pride at Lee during his training with Guy on one occasion. She showed worry for Lee's safety during the Chunin Exam, though she roughly shakes him awake as a method of helping him. She often trains with Neji by testing her weapons against his Eight Trigram Palms Heavenly Spin
One of the implications of Guy's team is that they are the archetype of the "Chinese rivals," a common staple in Japanese anime and manga. Lee bears a strong resemblance to Bruce Lee, several of Neji's techniques have Chinese aesthetics to them, and Tenten is the most overtly Chinese with her outfit, hairstyle, name, hobbies, favorite foods, and high-pitched voice (a stereotype of young Chinese girls).
Tenten's goal as a kunoichi is to be as great as Tsunade, one of the legendary Sannin, and she trains hard to achieve her dream. She is considered one of the best female ninja in the village. Tenten also strongly believes that female ninja are just as good as male ninja.
Tenten's hobby is astrology (fortune-telling and horoscopes). Her favorite food is Chinese food and sesame dumplings (sesame dango). She dislikes umeboshi (pickled ume fruit).
Synopsis
Part I
Chunin Exam arc
Tenten played a very small role in the Chunin exam arc. She didn't show off her abilities until the preliminaries aside from using mirrors to cheat on the first test. She was matched against Temari in the preliminaries, one of the worst opponents she could have gotten. She was defeated easily and was later shown assisting Neji with his training.
During the fight between Neji and Naruto, she is convinced that Naruto can't win, but comes to respect his abilities as he forces Neji to take the fight seriously. However, when Naruto surprises everyone and defeats Neji, Tenten, along with everyone else, is extremely shocked.
Filler arcs
Tenten is seen in the Raiga, Bird Country, and Bear Country arcs. In the Raiga arcs, she demonstrates her weapons mastery, as well as some more sisterly aspects of her personality. In the Bird Country arc, she has a temporary crush on the supposed "Sagi-sama", who is actually Sagi's twin sister, Toki, in disguise. She also showed her concern for Naruto after he was arrested. In the end, she shows much admiration for Toki's determination and is proud to see her become feudal lord. In the Bear Country arc, she shows a more "ditzy" side when she performs her creative shadowing technique, which consists of a barrel with an eyehole. In the Konoha 11 filler arc, Tenten is shown to be a very keen observer. She picks up on facts that Shino, Kiba, and Lee overlooked and her observations contributed a great deal to discovering Gennou's plot.
Part II
Tenten, two and a half years laterTwo and a half years later, Team Guy makes their debut in Chapter 253. Tenten and her teammates are sent as backup as Naruto, Sakura, and Kakashi go on a mission to rescue Gaara from the criminal organization Akatsuki. Tenten is now a Chunin, has changed her outfit, and now carries one large scroll. Her skills with weapons have also improved, as seen when she uses giant spiked bombs against Kisame during Team Guy's mission to provide back-up to Team Kakashi. Later on, when Team Guy comes to assist in the battle against Deidara, Tenten almost manages to hit him from a distance, but misses.
At the end of the Rescue Gaara arc, she shouts to Guy that he should hurry up and that he and Kakashi are slow. Guy, who was helping an injured Kakashi, comically overreacts and takes this as a personal challenge, throwing Kakashi on his back and challenging the students to keep up with him as he runs back to Konoha with Kakashi. Everyone else just stares in disbelief at the sight, except for Rock Lee, who attempts to do the same with Neji.

~Rock Lee (ロック・リー, Rokku Rī)He is modeled after the martial artist Bruce Lee.
According to an interview with Masashi Kishimoto, the creator of the manga series, in Shonen Jump's 'Naruto Anime Profiles Episodes 1-37', Rock Lee is his most fun character to draw. He also has stated that Sakura and Rock Lee were meant to symbolize human weakness (at least in the beginning).
In Shonen Jump's character popularity polls, Lee consistently ranked in the Top 10 in the first four polls, even making the Top 5 once. In the more current polls, however, Lee has fallen out of the Top 10 due to his lack of recent appearances.Despite this, he still ranks at a relatively high position. As an academy student, Rock Lee was teased for his inability to use ninjutsu or genjutsu, leading him to spend all his time and concentration on taijutsu under the guidance of his sensei, Might Guy. Through practice, he has become so overcompensatingly strong in the taijutsu discipline that he was allowed to graduate the ninja academy with his teammate and rival Neji Hyuga. Neji originally claimed that Lee was not really a ninja since he can't use genjutsu or ninjutsu, saying that just because Lee is the first student who graduated from the academy with only taijutsu doesn't mean that he is amazing, just unusual.
Lee's relationship with his sensei, Might Guy, is emotional to the point of comedy; their hugging, overstated posing, and odd mannerisms weird out Naruto Uzumaki, Sakura Haruno, and even Sasuke Uchiha to the point of blankly staring with disbelief when they witnessed them for the first time. Lee's bond with Guy is by far the strongest student-teacher relationship described in the series; Lee owes a large part of his character to Guy's guidance, including his dedication to hard work, taijutsu prowess, outfit, and haircut (Lee already had the large eyebrows to match). Guy himself believes that Lee has "beautiful eyes," and also calls him his "cute student."
Abilities
Rock Lee is a very spirited taijutsu (hand-to-hand combat) specialist and is the paragon of hard work. Incapable of using genjutsu or ninjutsu, he fights using taijutsu alone. At the start of the story, he is able to open five of the eight "chakra gates" inside a ninja's body, and already has physical speed and strength far beyond that of most ninja. However, Lee often matches up against opponents with perfect defenses against taijutsu, such as Gaara's sand shield and Kimimaro's bone manipulation, testing his taijutsu skills.
Lee always keeps a pair of extremely heavy weights on his legs (covered by leg warmers) and has trained himself to be amazingly fast despite this hindrance. Dropping them from even waist-height causes them to bury themselves into the ground; Guy once stated they were ten tons. The possibility of taking off the weights is a huge trump card for Lee, as his speed is increased drastically beyond its already impressive normal level when he is free of them, to the point that he moves faster than the blink of an eye. Guy has restricted him to only taking them off in a situation when protecting people who are important to him, but made an exception during Lee's battle with Gaara. This weighted clothing training method is a common concept in martial arts shōnen manga. Such methods are also practiced among some martial artists, although the practice is dangerous and controversial. Kakashi Hatake ridicules this type of training, calling it 'sentimental' and 'old-fashioned', while also pointing out that Guy went a little overboard with the amount of weight. Lee is also seen training with stone sandals in a filler episode of the anime.
The greatest of Lee's "trump cards" are five of the eight chakra gates. He is the only known person below Jonin-level capable of opening any of these gates. Using this technique is forbidden and Lee was taught to open these by Might Guy, which Kakashi disapproved of. By opening these gates one can release the mind's limits on chakra use at the expense of the body. Lee can open the first five gates, and has done so when performing Reverse Lotus, the final and most powerful of Lee's attacks. Guy and Kakashi (shown in a brief flashback of his training) are the only other people who have demonstrated usage of the chakra gates. Guy can open at least six of the gates, as shown during his fight against a clone of Kisame Hoshigaki. Although Lee has supposedly just worked hard to get to where he is, Kakashi noted that it takes more than hard work to open the chakra gates
Lee has also manifested a natural predisposition towards Drunken Fist; when he drinks as little as one drop of alcohol, he becomes an unpredictable and unstoppable force of destruction and chaos. His actions while drunk are usually a combination of misguided attempts to impress Guy, regardless of whether or not Guy's around, and drunken attacks on anyone who might happen to be near him. When drunk, his moves have an extra edge of unpredictability to them, much like the actual Zui Quan (Drunken Fist) martial art. As Guy explains to Tsunade during the Sasuke Retrieval arc, after Lee accidentally drank a small amount of Guy's sake during a congratulatory dinner, he proceeded to lay waste to the pub they were in. It took the combined effort of Guy and Neji to hold him down. Guy could have done it on his own, but didn't want to hurt Lee.
Personality
Rock Lee's hobby is hard work; he has even been called a genius at hard work. Masashi Kishimoto says, "Lee's theme is hard work. People think that hard work is lame these days but that's not the case. I wanted to express that hard work pays off." Lee has actually trained to the point that he fights while sleeping on occasion, which occurs through muscle memory.
No matter who the opponent, Lee always shows respect and never attempts to demean them. One notable characteristic is that he never speaks in contractions. He never uses words like "he's" or "doesn't" and instead uses the long forms such as "he is/has" or "does not." In the Japanese version, Lee only speaks in formal Japanese. He also is one of the few who addresses others with proper titles ("-san", "-kun", etc.), even to his friends.
Lee seems to put much work on mental training and studying as well. He has a near textbook knowledge of the Hyuga clan (as shown before the fight between Hinata and Neji), and is able to understand the strategies of his comrades through mere observation. However, he has shown a lack of common sense, as he thought he could fool the random draw into choosing him by not wanting to be chosen (it worked, but Lee believed the superstition was responsible). He also tried to take last-minute notes about Gaara's suspicious gourd while failing to realize that he would not be able to review them during the battle, even noting that fact in the notes when reminded by Guy.
Rock Lee's favorite food is medium-spicy curry rice and curry udon, revealing his taste for curry in the Raiga arc. Like his sensei, when asked about his least favorite food, he replies, "There is no such thing!"
Part I
Chunin Exam arc
Lee is first introduced during the very beginning of the Chunin exam arc, posing as a weak ninja in order not to draw attention to himself and his two teammates, Neji Hyuga and Tenten. Soon enough, however, he is revealed as far superior than he made himself out to be; he appears before Team Kakashi, proclaims his undying love for Sakura minutes after seeing her for the first time. After a display of exaggerated affection, in which Rock Lee blows hearts at Sakura through winks (she dodges all of them), he challenges Sasuke to a battle. Naruto gets annoyed with all the attention Sasuke is getting and insists on challenging Lee himself, but Lee easily deflects his attack and sends him spinning straight into a nearby wall with a weak whirlwind kick and a push with his arm.
After seeing this, Sasuke decides to accept the challenge. Sasuke is defeated just as easily, though to his credit Lee took longer to do it. This teaches Sasuke the main weaknesses of the Sharingan: it is useless to have enhanced perception of the opponent's movements if your own body cannot keep up with them. Lee explains that Sasuke is just a test for a much stronger opponent. He doesn't give a name, but the opponent is shown to be Neji. During the fight, Lee gets too carried away and almost uses one of his trump card techniques, Front Lotus, to secure his win. At this point, Guy stops the fight and berates Lee for trying to use the technique. After a moment of theatrical punching, hugging, and crying (complete with sunset background and crashing waves), they bid a greatly dumbfounded Team Kakashi farewell.
Lee appears again during the second stage of the exam, set in the Forest of Death. When his team split up for a scouting mission, he encounters a desperate Sakura, hopelessly trying to fend off the three Sound-nin attacking her and her two unconscious teammates (knocked out during their encounter with Orochimaru earlier). He does his best to help her, even using Front Lotus against Dosu Kinuta, but fails as there are three of the Sound-nin and he has no experience fighting against sound-based attacks. Ultimately it is the cursed seal-empowered Sasuke that drives them away.
In the third stage preliminaries, Lee finds himself having to fight Gaara, easily the most difficult opponent for him to have been matched against. During this fight, Lee's many attempts to beat his rival, Neji Hyuga, are shown, each one ending in failure. He almost loses faith in himself, but Guy's guidance gives him hope again. The entire history is actually fractured across several story arcs. In the battle, trump card after trump card is pulled out only to be nullified against Gaara's various defenses. Lee opens the first five chakra gates in an attempt to defeat Gaara, which he had actually hoped to save for Neji, but Gaara manages to just barely save himself. In the end, Gaara avenges his wounds by crushing Lee's left arm and left leg. Guy steps in to save Lee before Gaara can finish the job, disqualifying Lee. Despite his wounds, Lee stands up in his combat stance to continue fighting. Guy informs him the fight is over, only to discover that Lee is unconscious and fighting by muscle memory alone. After Guy stops Lee, the medics inform Guy that Lee's wounds have crippled him and destroyed his career as a ninja. Lee was the first person to ever physically hurt Gaara, demonstrating his extreme potential despite his inability to use ninjutsu or genjutsu. Despite the injuries and his subsequent hospitalization, Lee insists on training anyway, sneaking out of the hospital and doing one-armed push-ups and one-legged squats on his unbroken arm and leg.
Search for Tsunade arc
While Naruto and Jiraiya search for Tsunade, Guy tries various home remedies to cure Lee, none of which work. When Tsunade is finally brought back, Guy, who has heard of Tsunade's legendary medical abilities, asks her whether there is anything that can be done about Lee's condition. Tsunade looks into it and concludes that an operation that would mend his bones is possible in theory, but would be very risky; he has bone fragments scattered near vital nerves, and the slightest wrong movement would mean his death. She estimates the chance of success at about 50%, the other 50% is that Lee would die and Lee almost experiences a mental breakdown when presented with the morbid choice of whether to undergo the operation or not. On the one hand, his life is meaningless without his ability to prove his nindo, or ninja way, that he can become a great ninja even without ability to use ninjutsu or genjutsu. On the other hand, the only method to recover his nindo is to risk death.
Eventually, after a heartfelt conversation with Guy, Lee decides to take the operation (the anime has Tsunade doing a bit of research and raising the success chance to 58%, but this does not happen in the original manga).
Sasuke Retrieval arc
At the start of the mission to retrieve Sasuke, Neji is seen helping Lee move about. Lee, having survived the operation, is still in physical therapy. After Sakura pleads with Naruto to bring Sasuke back, Lee reassures her by saying that Naruto definitely will, since he made the promise with the "nice guy pose" (Guy and Lee's common mannerism of giving a thumbs up and smiling, though Naruto's teeth don't glint).
Lee eventually lends his assistance to Naruto by taking over the fight against Kimimaro, thus allowing Naruto to continue pursuing Sasuke. Lee was still using a crutch to walk just two days before when Shikamaru's team left for Sasuke. According to Tsunade, Lee was not supposed to even leave the hospital, but given his character, it is not surprising that he did so when he heard his friends could use his help.
After a few exchanged hits, Lee briefly seizes the advantage over Kimimaro when he drinks what he thinks is his medicine but is actually a bottle of sake he took by mistake, revealing for the first time in the series Rock Lee's natural abilities in the powerful Drunken Fist style. Drunken Lee's power and unpredictability soon becomes too much for Kimimaro to handle on his own and he is forced to tap power from his cursed seal, reversing the situation as he is now able to counter and stop Lee's attacks with his bones alone. Lee attempts the Lotus attack, but, having just left the care of the hospital, it was a vain effort. When his death seems inevitable, a cloud of sand creates a powerful blast between the combatants, knocking the two away from each other. More sand rises to allow Lee a soft landing. Gaara, now Konoha's ally and his attitude changed by his earlier battle with Naruto, has arrived to aid in the battle. Remarking to Lee that his speed was not the same as it was in their own fight, Gaara fends off Kimimaro using his most powerful attacks just to keep Kimimaro at bay, but is still almost overcome and killed. Luckily for Gaara, Kimimaro's sickness finally catches up with him, and Kimimaro dies with a spear held directly in front of Gaara's eye.
Having just been saved by Gaara, Lee tells him that he doesn't hold a grudge, and they have a friendly conversation about the ideals that fueled Kimimaro before they go back to Konoha to meet up with everybody else and see how the mission played out. In the epilogue to the first part of the manga, he is shown much more muscular training with Guy, who can't seem to keep up with his speed.
Filler arcs
Raiga arc
In the Raiga arc, Lee takes the rest of Team Guy and Naruto to the Curry of Life shop while on their way to their mission. The shop specializes in a super-spicy form of curry that can supposedly cure anything. Lee couldn't resist the curry, but the others aren't quite used to it. During his battle with Raiga, Lee ends up drunk after being fed some curry accidentally spiked with liquor, the second time Lee utilizes Drunken Fist. Despite this, he is eventually repelled. After the incident, the shop owner makes an even spicier curry for Lee (it's "super spicy bright red" in color), but the others drag him off before he can taste it.
Hoshigakure arc
During a mission to the Land of Bears, Lee and Tenten show off a more goofy side by trying to follow two ninja of Hoshigakure in a wooden barrel. It's quite obvious to the ninja that they're being followed, but they humor it for a while. Later on, when they're trying to sneak into a house, Lee uses Wall Removal Technique to get inside. He labels it as ninjutsu, despite his inability, which momentarily freaks Tenten out. It is only after he reappears that she realizes what it really is. Lee simply used his speed to run inside the house, creating the impression of ninjutsu.
Lee's Dojo arc
In this episode, Lee builds a dojo after seeing one while on a mission. The location he builds it in, however, is fairly difficult to reach, and as such no one comes to challenge him. Naruto is the only one to bother taking the entire trip, which convinces Lee that he wants to challenge the dojo. Naruto would rather not, so he tries to get Guy to do it in disguise (the "disguise" being a mustache and an afro wig that everyone but Lee recognizes as Guy). When Guy is called away on a mission, still dressed in his disguise, a ninja spy decides to impersonate him, and is quickly pulled into a fight with Lee by Naruto. The spy is nowhere near as strong, so he convinces Naruto to take his place. Naruto relents and challenges Lee while disguised as Guy. Despite the rather obvious disguise, Lee can't tell that the transformed Naruto is supposed to be Guy.
During the battle, Naruto uses a variation of his Harem Technique to surround Lee with Sakura clones (with clothes on this time). This causes Lee to break into one of his odd, tear-filled moments, which Naruto uses to get an attack in. After Guy returns and the ninja spy disguises himself as Lee, a good portion of the dojo is destroyed by the two subsequently fighting (Guy kicks the ninja through two walls, and causes several holes by himself). The spy is eventually delivered to Tsunade, who has a warrant for his arrest.
The Third Great Beast arc
In this episode, Lee's body condition seems to get worse due to his intense training; to the point that Tsunade had to relieve him from his duty to carry out missions and asked him to rest for a while. Tsunade also forbade Lee from using Reverse Lotus. Lee, depressed, left the hospital alone, making Tenten and Naruto think that his condition must be really bad. Lee later met Guy and told him that he can't use Reverse Lotus. Guy just tells Lee to train harder and develop a technique that surpasses Reverse Lotus. Afterwards, they go to the academy dojo, where Guy has been training a visiting ninja, Yagura. Yagura ends up sparring with Lee, and nearly breaking his ankle with an advanced intercepting technique.
With Lee out of commission, Yagura ends up going on a mission with Guy. He makes it a point to discourage Lee with this information. During the mission, he reveals that he is no rookie ninja at all, but rather a jonin-level spy intending to get revenge on Guy for defeating his father. His clan specializes in fighting with kung fu training posts in a style akin to that used with puppets, but with many more acting at once. Lee, Naruto and the rest of Team Guy eventually discover the plot and come to help.
While Naruto and the rest of Team Guy fight the weaker posts, Lee and Guy are trapped inside a castle constructed of other training posts. Lee and Guy are trapped in separate rooms, in which a single training post is kept. As they fight the posts, the posts seem to know their moves exactly. In reality, Yagura is using a jutsu that causes the posts to mimic Lee and Guy's moves. After Lee begins to unravel his bandages to attempt the Primary Lotus, Guy sees through the technique and communicates to his student through Morse code with his feet. The two then work out a way to defeat the posts: break them apart through stress. They both open the first five chakra gates and bounce around the room at high speed, breaking the jutsu and the entire castle along with it. After the ninja is defeated, Guy reveals that Yagura's father was an honorable man, who just wanted another honest match with Guy, not revenge.
Konoha 11 arc
Lee appears again in the Konoha 11 arc, where he and the rest of the Konoha Genin are assigned to assist Shikamaru in the investigation of a foreign spy named Gennou. Since this job mostly involves investigation, Lee serves as backup and takes notes. At one point, however, he catches a kunai in midair using his incredible speed. The kunai, had it hit its target, would have set off a chain reaction that would have destroyed the entire village set by Gennou, or so they thought. Gennou turns out to be not so evil; the explosive was defective, a petty mistake that Gennou, a trap expert, would never make according to Shikamaru. Before the group discovers this, Lee fights and defeats Gennou, a legendary ninja (albeit a very old one), saying that their taijutsu is approximately equal.. Shinobazu arc
Lee appears again in this arc. He and Naruto are "bonding" by fighting each other to a draw near a river when Sakura comes to tell them they have a mission. They are to escort a man named Gantetsu to a capital so he can stand trial. Later they board the ship and began traveling down stream. The rest of the shinobazu group attack the ship and create a whole new river. They then split the boat in half, right through the middle. Lee and Sakura are on the top, but Naruto is on the bottom floating down the new canal. They are later attacked and prepare to fight back until they discover their attackers are a group of kids.
Shiitenshounin arc
In this arc, Lee is paired with Naruto in a two-man group as part of Shikamaru's plan to aid Gaara, Temari and Kankuro against the four Shiitenshounin. Lee and Naruto are sent to aid Gaara in battle once the three sand ninja have been located, giving Lee a chance to repay his debt to Gaara for his aid in the Sasuke Retrieval arc.Part IITwo-and-a-half years later, Team Guy is sent as backup for Team Kakashi on a mission to rescue Gaara from the hands of Akatsuki. In terms of his appearance, he now sports a Konoha ninja vest, further increasing his comical resemblance to Guy. If it weren't for the fact that Guy is almost twice as old as Lee, they'd look identical. He also seems to be more suited to teamwork now, no longer letting his thirst to prove himself lead him head first into a fight. Much of his personality remains the same; he still looks up to Guy and tries to follow in his footsteps. Lee is shown to be talking vigorously with Guy about reaching Suna before the estimated time, showing his hard-work attitude still very much exists. At the end of the Rescue Gaara arc, when Guy is forced to carry Kakashi back to Konoha piggyback style, Lee mistakes it for training (Guy does actually treat it as such) and attempts to do the same with Neji. Neji, of course, flatly refuses.

~Neji Hyuga (日向ネジ, Hyūga Neji)Neji is the only known Hyuga clan member whose first name does not start with a kana from the Ha-gyō (ha (ハ), hi (ヒ), fu (フ), he (ヘ), or ho (ホ)), like Hiashi, Hanabi, Hinata, and Hizashi. His name means "Screw", "Spiral", or "Helix", which probably refers to his Heavenly Spin technique. His name also bears resemblance to Nèijiā, a Chinese martial arts style that is known for "soft" style and its emphasis on "internal power" rather than "external power", possibly a basis for his Gentle Fist style.
In Shonen Jump's annual character popularity polls, Neji often ranks in the Top 10, usually in the 6th-8th range.A Genin at the start of the series, Neji Hyuga was the #1 rookie of his Ninja Academy graduating class. He is also considered to be the strongest and most talented of all the Konoha Genin who attended the Chunin exam during the first part of the series, and is the first of them to become a Jonin. Neji has been praised as a natural genius of the Hyuga clan, but can never lead it because he's a branch house member. He is perhaps the most skilled Gentle Fist user in the series, despite this fact. Though the most powerful techniques of this style are normally kept within the main house, Neji learned them through simple observation.
Neji is in the same Genin team as Rock Lee, Tenten, and their Jonin-sensei Might Guy. Neji and Lee have a long-ongoing rivalry, which, not unlike the rivalry between Guy and Kakashi, mostly comes from Lee's side. Lee, who has been fighting against his fate as a worthless shinobi all his life, tries desperately to prove himself to the world in general and Neji in particular. Neji mocked Lee's dream of becoming a fine shinobi in the past, saying one cannot go against fate, but after Neji's defeat by Naruto, he seems to have warmed up to Lee. Tenten is often seen sparring with Neji, which usually consists of Tenten honing her skill with throwing weapons and Neji deflecting the weapons. The two of them are often equally annoyed with Lee and Guy's overreacting and 'youthful' behavior, but are similarly equally dedicated to fighting for their teammates. Despite his rank, Neji still goes out on missions with his team.
One of the implications of Guy's team is that they are the archetype of the "Chinese rivals," a common staple in Japanese anime and manga. Several of Neji's techniques have Chinese aesthetics to them, in addition to his clothes. Lee also bears a strong resemblance to Bruce Lee. Tenten is the most overtly Chinese with her outfit, hairstyle, name, hobbies, favorite foods, and high-pitched voice (a stereotype of young Chinese girls).
Because he is a member of the branch house, Neji can never be the leader of his clan, despite his mastery of Gentle Fist and the Byakugan; his father, Hizashi Hyuga, despite being Hiashi Hyuga's twin, was born second, making him a branch house member. In his childhood, Neji had nothing against the main family as he was too young to fully understand the implications of being a branch family member, but as he grew up seeing his father feel nothing but hatred for his own brother and the main family, he gradually came to resent it himself. His resentment only deepened as he witnessed his father enraged first hand while watching Hinata Hyuga, Hiashi's elder daughter and Hyuga main family heir, train with her father; Hizashi knew that his own son, Neji, would never be the heir of his clan. Detecting Hizashi's vibes of animosity, Hiashi activated the cursed seal on Hizashi, putting his brother in immense pain as his nerves were being attacked. It was Neji's first encounter with the Hyuga cursed seal.
It was not until the incident with Kumogakure's and Konohagakure's peace treaty, however, that Neji truly became who he was when he showed up for the Chunin exams. The two villages, which were at war with one another, decided to sign a treaty, and for this representatives from Kumogakure arrived. On the same day, the very same cursed seal that tortured his father was put upon Neji himself; and that night, the ambassador from the Land of Lightning attempted to kidnap Hinata, revealing that the intention of the "treaty" was all along to get into the Land of Fire and acquire the secret of the Byakugan. Hiashi detected the intruder and killed him at once, for which Kumogakure requested payback in the form of Hiashi's dead body. That day, Neji's father was sent to his death instead of Hiashi, and Neji grew up believing that his father was sent against his will to protect the Hyuga clan's secret bloodline. This chain of events drove him to the point of believing that a person's future is decided from birth and that there was no way to escape or change destiny, making him a character with a grudge against the main house.

Chunin Exam arc
The calm, stoic image Neji presents breaks rather violently with pent-up hatred in the Chunin Exam third stage preliminaries, when he is randomly chosen to be Hinata's opponent. Despite knowing full well that he can't possibly lose, as he is simply older and stronger than her, Neji opts to mentally attack and unbalance her, telling her that she is a harmony-seeking person not fit to be a shinobi, and that he can see that she wants nothing more than to be somewhere else. When she stutters that this is not true, and that she entered the exam because she wanted to change herself, Neji concludes that she is truly a pampered child of the main family, believing in such absurdities, and gives her a stern speech tinged with fatalism about how people cannot change, bringing her to the verge of tears.
In doing so, however, he terribly enrages Naruto Uzumaki. Naruto, having fought all his life against such ideals, interrupts his speech and yells at Hinata to stand up for herself, partly because the speech is driving him nuts. This actually gives Hinata the willpower to do just that; something Neji definitely did not fathom was a possibility. Being far stronger than Hinata, Neji manages to knock her down again and again. Against his relentless onslaught, she continues to refuse to give up and carries on fighting. Though Neji is still in a superior position, he starts sweating, since people who fight against their fate do not fit into his world-view. Hinata, however, explained to him that she sees the pain in his eyes and it is he who is in fact fighting desperately against his fate; one who will never be recognized or be an heir to Hyuga. This statement strikes a nerve and he goes into a blind rage ready to kill Hinata, but is stopped by the Jonin in attendance. Neji further calls both Hinata and Naruto dropouts subsequently after the fight, and this is the bursting point for Naruto who runs toward Neji to attack him, only to be prevented by Rock Lee, who reasons that even a dropout can defeat a genius with enough training, but it has to happen in a proper fight. Naruto grudgingly accepts this, but is still so outraged that he swears on Hinata's spilled blood that he will defeat Neji in battle.
A month afterwards when Naruto and Neji actually engage in battle in the third stage main event, Naruto continuously confronts Neji about his attitude and the way he treated Hinata, until Neji decides that if he cares so much, he will share the sad story of his twin father and uncle. While Naruto is shocked at the tragedy, he refuses to acknowledge it as an excuse for how Neji is acting, and berates him for his hypocrisy, going on about fate but defying his in a twisted way, almost killing Hinata while as a Hyuga branch family member it is his duty to protect her. Though Neji remains dominant for the first part of the fight, and even manages to block Naruto's chakra points completely, Naruto harnesses the power of demon fox to heal himself by reflecting on his promise and the ideals he is fighting for. With the power of the Demon fox, Naruto is able to overpower Neji, and just before a final, booming clash between his revitalized self and Neji, he recalls Neji's various disheartening speeches, yelling back at him, "I don't know about the Hyuga fate of hatred, but... if you think it's impossible, then don't do anything! After I become Hokage... I'll change the Hyuga way for you!"
After the smoke clears from the powerful explosion that follows, Neji is finally seen emerging from his own impact crater, while the unconscious form of Naruto lies in another. Too exhausted to maintain his Byakugan, Neji comments that although Naruto made him get serious, the reality is that fate is predetermined and as Neji thought, he'd won the fight before it began. He is interrupted mid-speech by the real Naruto - the unconscious Naruto having been a clone - lunging out of a tunnel that he dug in the ground, almost knocking Neji out with a powerful uppercut. His hands dripping blood (his own this time, from digging the hole) and having won the fight, Naruto chooses to appeal to Neji in hopes of reforming his bleak outlook on life somewhat. To Neji's comment that he was careless, losing to a Shadow Clone - Naruto's favorite technique - Naruto replies by telling Neji that he has failed the Academy graduation exam three times because the exam was always based on the technique he was worst at, and after a short pause reveals that the move was the regular clone technique, the lower-ranked version of the technique which he just used to win (in direct defiance of Neji's assertions that one's talents and skills are set from birth). While Neji lies on the ground, Genma Shiranui tells him, "When a bird trapped in a cage grows wiser, it will try to open the cage with its beak. They don't give up because they want to fly again". This is an apt metaphor for Neji's situation; in fact, birds flying near Neji are a common occurrence before this match.
After this fight, Hiashi - Neji's uncle - decides to finally tell Neji the truth of Hizashi's death. He felt that Neji was now old enough to know the truth. He handed him a scroll that Neji initially dismissed as lies convenient to the head family until he realized it was titled "To Neji" in his father's handwriting. In the letter, Hizashi explains that he was not sacrificed at all. He had voluntarily chosen to die not as a branch family member protecting the head family, but as a Hyuga protecting his brother and clan. Hizashi volunteering was helpful because the curse seal given to the branch family seals away the Byakugan after death, thus keeping the secrets of one of Konoha's most powerful bloodlines a secret. As a teary-eyed Neji finishes reading the letter, he finds Hiashi, the head of the noble Hyuga clan, bowing his head to the ground proclaiming, "That is the whole truth. Please forgive me." Neji wipes his tears and asks Hiashi to raise his head, implying forgiveness of the head family.
After Hiashi leaves, Neji is left looking out of the room's window, wondering about the nature of fate and the legacy of his father. He reaches a turning point as he starts to finally accept that people can change, after all, and even birds in cages that try hard enough can break free and soar the skies again. He realizes that the people that have dreams are truly strong and dreams to become stronger so that he will not lose to anyone ever again. Neji thereafter looks at the head family and Hinata with a gentler eye and is even allowed to train one-on-one with Hiashi.

Neji's defeat to Naruto and Naruto's words are able to help Neji see that destiny is capable of being changed, and they become good friends from that point on. Neji may never admit it, but he is thankful for Naruto showing him a brighter part of life.
Masashi Kishimoto says:
“ The theme for the Neji-Naruto fight is "destiny," or "fate." I wanted to express the difference between Neji who believed that fate can't be changed and suffers within that belief and Naruto who lives to change fate while looking forward. ”
Sasuke Retrieval arc
Some time later in the series, the reformed Neji joins Shikamaru Nara's squad (consisting of Naruto Uzumaki, Kiba Inuzuka, Choji Akimichi, and later Rock Lee, Gaara, Kankuro and Temari) on the failed mission to prevent Sasuke Uchiha from crossing over Land of Fire's borders and into the Land of Sound and Orochimaru's control. He confronts Kidomaru of the Sound Four, risking his life for the sake of his comrades, sustaining critical injuries, and at one point coming inches from death (he purposely got hit by Kidomaru's arrow so that he could guide his chakra through the string controlling the arrow, in order to kill him), surviving only thanks to treatment by a medical-nin team that is promptly dispatched.
During the fight against Kidomaru, he feels for once how it is to be on the hopelessly disadvantaged side while your opponent taunts and mocks your hopeless predicament, as he has done to Lee, Hinata, and Naruto. Much like they did when up against his former, bitter self, Neji refuses to give up and fights with feverish determination; this is what enables him to emerge victorious in the end. Neji reveals to Kidomaru that there is a specific reason that he cannot lose. Referring back to Naruto's last words to him after beating him at the Chunin exam, "Unlike me, you're not a failure" meaning that Neji shouldn't complain about his fate because truth be told, he was born excellent. Neji takes those words as inspiration declaring that he cannot lose because since he has always been called a genius, there are people who rely on him as a genius, and he can't let them down. Neji then reveals that if anyone can save Sasuke from the darkness, it's Naruto, for Naruto also saved him from the darkness.
At the epilogue of the first part of the manga and anime, Neji is shown having friendly conversation with Hinata and training with Hiashi, and they later all have tea together, symbolizing that the Hyuga clan seems to finally be coming to terms with one-another.
Filler arcs
Neji makes a number of appearances in the filler arcs that follow the end of the first part of the Naruto anime. He appears in the Raiga arc, Bird Country arc, the Star Village arc, the Third Great Beast Arc, Konoha Eleven story arc and Menma's Memory Retrieval arc. He and Naruto seem to get along very well in these story arcs, though they tend to argue from time to time. Overall, he does treat Naruto and his teammates better. They usually work well together when they are fighting opponents, and they usually end up winning. All of the missions they share together have ended in success, with the exception of the original Star Village mission. Though they end up destroying the object they were sent to protect, the Star Village doesn't complain because the object was actually causing harm to them. Tsunade considers the mission null since the one who had originally requested it had assassinated the previous village leader to gain power, and she secretly considers the modified mission a success.
The anime fillers also indicate that Neji is getting along better with Hinata and Hiashi. He often trains with Hiashi in a dojo-like courtyard in the main Hyuga mansion. In the Konoha 11 arc, Neji kindly asks Hinata for assistance in searching for traps. Though his request is likely due in part to her also possessing the Byakugan, he does so with a much nicer tone than his pre-Chunin Exam self would have.
Part II
Neji's appearance in Naruto II.
New personality
Neji's personality has changed a great deal after the timeskip (mostly due to Naruto's influence). He has changed his jacket in favor of traditional Hyuga robes and has grown his hair even longer than it already was. Neji is still a very serious person, but he seems to be somewhat more cheerful and docile. He no longer has a pessimistic attitude that his fate cannot be changed, and he seems to encourage his teammates to a certain extent. Neji also seems to be more willing to use teamwork in battle, rather than always fight alone. Though he still has shown an incredulous attitude towards Guy's and Lee's antics, it would seem it is more routine and he is more used to it by now. He works quickly to get his teammates out of trouble during the encounter with Kisame, helping Tenten up, and readily gives his assistance to Guy and Kakashi when they ask for it.

[edit] New abilities
Two and a half years later, Team Guy – including Neji, despite him being a Jonin - is sent as backup for Naruto, Sakura, and Kakashi on a mission to rescue Gaara from Akatsuki. Neji has become a Jonin, and has learned at least one new technique: Eight Trigrams Empty Palm. His Byakugan also seems even more powerful, allowing him to almost instantly locate four small tokens scattered across a kilometer radius in a woodland area.

~Might Guy Fansubs have often dubbed his name as Maito Gai, a direct and unaltered transliteration of the character's name, but the second official Naruto data book (Hiden: Tō no Sho) states his name as Might Guy. The English version of the anime and manga both use Might Guy as well.
In the Shonen Jump magazine, Viz rendered Guy's name as "Mighty Guy" in some of the earlier chapters; this was changed back to "Maito Gai" in most of the graphic novel stories and later changed to "Might Guy" when the guidebooks were released.
The name "Might Guy" is a joke aimed at the "hot-headed hero" archetype that appears in many movies and anime. Guy's appearance and mannerisms are similar to Bruce Lee'sMight Guy is a Konoha Jonin who is known for his thick eyebrows, green jumpsuit, shiny bowl haircut, and exceedingly zealous personality. He often refers to himself as "Konoha's Prideful Green Beast" (木ノ葉の気高き碧い猛獣, Konoha no Kedakai Aoi Mōjū?, also "Konoha's Noble Green Beast"). He is the sensei of the ninja team consisting of Neji Hyuga, Tenten, and Rock Lee. Of the three, he has bonded with Rock Lee the most because Lee reminds Guy of himself when he was younger. Guy's guidance prompted Lee to start tapping into his potential, despite having been considered sub par in all ninja categories up until then. Guy uses the terms "youth," "power," and "explosion" many times when encouraging his students; however, he sadly notes that his own youthful power seems to be fading. He first mentions this while training with Lee just before the end of Part I, whom Guy has trouble keeping up with by then.
Guy has never been shown using ninjutsu or genjutsu onscreen (even going so far as to use a regular disguise instead of using a transformation jutsu during a filler arc). However, unlike Lee, he is given a ninjutsu and genjutsu score of three out of five in the databooks. Since it is implied in the series that Guy, in his first appearance, summoned Ninkame (offscreen) with ninjutsu, and is apparently capable of dispelling genjutsu (as seen during the Invasion of Konoha arc), it can be assumed that Guy knows both, but simply doesn't like to use either ninjutsu or genjutsu, preferring taijutsu. Ninkame has not been seen since.

Guy is perhaps the most impassioned character in the series, and possesses several uncommon mannerisms accentuating this fact. The first and foremost of these is his "nice guy pose," which consists of giving the thumbs up, winking, and smiling with teeth so white they give the proverbial "ping." It's often used by both Guy and Lee to indicate commitment to a statement they had just made — meaning their word is their honor — the highest form of a promise. Guy's teacher-student relationship with Lee also carries distinct attributes. For example, when Lee makes an infraction of a rule, and does not heed Guy's verbal instruction, Guy will punch Lee and then assign him a very arduous training task as punishment, all aimed to re-capture Lee's focus and discipline. The two may then burst into tears and embrace, in brief regret for the strong blow Lee was given. When this happens, a beach at sunset, complete with crashing waves, usually appears behind them. Guy believes that "hard work without believing in yourself is worthless," and pointed this out to Rock Lee at a time when he felt hopeless and inadequate as a ninja.
Despite his comical nature, Guy is a very powerful Jonin. He graduated from the Academy at age seven, and became a Chunin at age eleven. When Guy saves Kakashi, Asuma, and Kurenai from Kisame during the Return of Itachi arc, Kisame regards Guy's appearance as foolish, but Itachi narrows his eyes at Guy, warning Kisame to not underestimate him. In Part II, as Team Guy is approaching the Akatsuki hideout, Itachi warns the other members of Akatsuki again to not take Guy lightly. Considering the strength of each member of the organization — and Itachi in particular — that Guy would merit such a warning is a sure indicator that he is a potent combatant.
Guy is the self-proclaimed rival of Kakashi Hatake, who acts indifferent to their rivalry. Kakashi's "cool" attitude annoys Guy to no end. Guy randomly challenges Kakashi to contests of all sorts and proportions, including 100-meter dashes, sumo-wrestling, ramen-eating contests, and even Rock, Paper, Scissors. Guy actually objected to the last contest, but Kakashi convinced him that luck was a skill. Guy has a record of 50 wins and 49 losses against his rival in these and other contests, and is very proud of the fact.
Guy, and by extension Lee, lives his life by his own "My Rules" philosophy, which involves setting tougher goals for failure so something good comes of it. For example, he vowed to walk 500 laps around Konoha on his hands if he lost a contest with kakashi, and proceeded to do so upon losing, even though people stopped paying attention eventually.
In his rivalry with Kakashi, Guy has developed an effective taijutsu counter against enemy Sharingan users: By focusing on their feet, Guy can both predict the movements of the enemy and avoid their dojutsu, (or genjutsu induced through eye contact). Currently, Guy is the only ninja who can use this technique.
According to the official databook, Might Guy's favorite foods are super-spicy curry rice and curry udon. As to his least favorite food, he proclaims, "There is no such thing!" His hobby is training by repeatedly jumping sideways and hitting mitts. His favorite phrase is "Bursting with youth!"
Many of Guy's mannerisms and quirks are references to common clichés of seishun (青春, "youth," especially in the sense of "springtime of one's life") anime. The coach whose "tough love" and harsh training is eventually respected and loved by his charges whom he has turned from losers into champions is a staple of such sports anime, as well as US sports movies. However, these clichés are often viewed as corny and old fashioned, and are commonly parodied in gag anime.
Part I
Chunin Exam arc
Guy first appears in the Chunin Exam arc, where he recommended that Kakashi hold his students back for a year so they could train. Kakashi asked if Guy was afraid that his own students would lose, which annoyed him. Guy later appears to stop the fight between Lee and Sasuke, which Lee was about to finish with a forbidden technique. This is Team 7's first introduction to Guy. While Naruto and Sakura can't help but focus on his comical resemblance to Lee and the emotional student-teacher relationship between them, Sasuke is focused on his record against Kakashi, which Guy announced during his entrance. He also notes Guy's speed, which is greater than Kakashi's.
During the preliminary exams, Guy notes Sasuke's similarity to Kakashi after watching him copy one of Lee's Lotus techniques. During Lee's fight with Gaara, Guy reveals that he taught Lee how to open five of the eight chakra gates, which Kakashi thinks was rather reckless of him. Guy defends himself, saying that he did so in order to help Lee achieve his goal of becoming an excellent ninja, which means everything to Lee. When Rock Lee is about to be killed by Gaara, Guy steps in to stop the fight.
Guy ends up repeating Kakashi's earlier statement regarding recklessness when he learns that Kakashi taught Sasuke the One Thousand Birds jutsu. In response, Kakashi merely alludes to Guy's teaching methods in regards to Lee. After the attack on Konoha begins, both Guy and Kakashi spend the entire time taking out enemy ninja in the exam arena. The two do quite well together, even though Guy treats it as a chance to outdo Kakashi.
Return of Itachi and Search for Tsunade arc
During the Search for Tsunade arc, Guy rescues Kakashi, Asuma, and Kurenai Yuhi from Itachi Uchiha and Kisame Hoshigaki, who were looking for Naruto. The two Akatsuki members retreat when Guy arrives, stating that they didn't want to start a war. After Kakashi is taken to the hospital, Itachi's arrival is accidentally revealed to Sasuke, who goes to find him. After the fight is over among Jiraiya, Kisame, and Itachi, Guy — who had been pursuing Sasuke — ends up comically attacking Jiraiya with "Dynamic Entry!" (a flying kick), mistaking Jiraiya's reflection in his forehead protector for that of the enemy. Needless to say, Guy is embarrassed about the mistake and apologizes to Jiraiya. Jiraiya then tells Guy to take care of Sasuke and get him to the hospital. As Jiraiya and Naruto depart to find Tsunade, Guy gives Naruto a green body suit as a gift — the same kind that he and Lee wear — for his notable courage in face of crisis. However, after Guy leaves, Jiraiya asks Naruto not to wear the suit, believing that it looks silly and using Guy as an example. Although Naruto seems reluctant, he doesn't wear the body suit, though he mentions that he's fond of it during one of the filler arcs.
Later on, after Tsunade gives Lee the poor odds of success for his operation, it is Guy who convinces Lee to go through with it. A short flashback by Lee explains their "My Rules" philosophy. Guy tells Lee that with all of the work Lee has done so far, he will definitely survive the operation, and if by some cruel twist of fate Lee doesn't, then he will die too. As Guy puts it, they're both simply too stupid to live without their way of the ninja, which is becoming a great ninja for Lee, and helping Lee become a great ninja for Guy. After Lee's operation is successful, Guy explains Lee's dangerous reaction to alcohol to Tsunade when she suspects that Lee mistook her sake for his medicine.
Filler arcs
Guy appears in several of the filler episodes. He appeared in episode 152 when Tsunade was assigning his team and Naruto to go to the village under Raiga's control. He appears at the end of episode 161, at which point both he and Lee meet the two men who had been impersonating them. They quickly send the two impostors flying.
Guy appears again in episode 193, where he attempts to help Rock Lee build the reputation of his newly-built dojo. After learning from Naruto that Lee had not received a challenger yet, Guy decides to challenge Lee himself while posing as a stranger. Guy felt that it would be a waste of good sportsmanship and noble repute for Lee's dojo to go unchallenged. The disguise Guy chose was very poor, however, consisting of only a gray mustache and a gray afro wig. Nevertheless, Lee never suspected the challenger to be his sensei. While on his way to the dojo, Guy ends up being called away for an emergency by Shikamaru's group. This gives an opportunity to a foreign ninja seeking Konoha's secrets to sneak into the village while transformed as Guy, who was still in his "disguise" at the time. After a series of events that leaves Naruto fighting Lee while disguised as Guy — and the foreign ninja transformed into Lee — the true Guy returns and challenges the fake Lee to a fight. Guy promptly knocks him unconscious and reprimands him for his easy defeat. When everyone realizes that the ninja is a fraud, they take him to Tsunade, who conveniently happens to have a warrant for his arrest.
In The Third Great Beast arc, Guy begins training a visiting ninja, Yagura. Yagura ends up sparring with Lee, and nearly breaks his ankle with an advanced intercepting technique. With Lee out of commission, Yagura ends up going on a mission with Guy. Yagura makes it a point to discourage Lee with this information. During the mission, he reveals that he is in fact intending to get revenge on Guy, whom he holds responsible for his father's death. His clan specializes in fighting with kung fu training posts in a style akin to that used with puppets. The training posts, however, are nowhere near as versatile. Guy destroys quite a few posts, but ends up trapped in a house made of the posts. Lee, Naruto and the rest of Team Guy, eventually find out and come to help.
The two then work out a way to defeat the posts: break them apart through extreme stress, caused by their great speed. They both open the first five chakra gates and swiftly race through the room at high speed, bouncing off walls, ceiling, and floor, destroying Yagura's jutsu and the entire castle along with it. After the ninja is defeated, Guy reveals that Yagura's father was an honorable man who only wished for another match with Guy, not to seek revenge.
In the Konoha 11 arc, Guy is seen leading most of Konoha's available Jonin to stop a suspected invasion by Takigakure. Though it seems as if the ninjas of Takigakure may actually attack, they are in fact just performing a training exercise.
It is revealed in episode 203 in the filler arc (the 90 minute special) that Kurenai is envious of Guy's ability to inspire his students, and that Guy performs morning marathons and gymnastics to "sweat out the impurities that build up in your body while sleeping!"
Part II
Guy's first appearance in Naruto: Hurricane Chronicles is with his team, where they are sent as backup for Team Kakashi. When Zetsu informs the other members of Akatsuki that Guy's team was approaching, Kisame requests that he be the one to take care of them, as he wants to repay Guy for "the kick he gave [him] earlier." When they face off, however, Guy can't seem to recall who Kisame is, agitating Kisame greatly. Kisame, attacking through a remote-controlled body substitute, overwhelms Team Guy and traps everyone but Guy in water prisons. To finish the battle, Guy opens the sixth chakra gate and uses his signature Morning Peacock move, defeating Kisame and revealing the fact that their attacker was actually a body double.
Apon reaching the Akatsuki hideout, Kakashi instructs Team Guy on how to disable the barrier around the hideout. Upon doing so, they are forced to fight off clones of themselves, created as a failsafe should the barrier be disabled. At the conclusion of the Rescue Gaara arc, Team Kakashi and Team Guy travel through the desert to reach Konoha. Guy struggles to help Kakashi walk, since he is exhausted from extensive use of his Sharingan. Kakashi apologizes for the fatigue, and in turn, Guy lifts Kakashi and carries him on his back. Their students misunderstand the situation when they notice, as they are a ways ahead of their teachers and are unaware of Kakashi's weariness. Sakura even thinks they are playing piggyback. Guy doesn't seem to notice their confusion, and challenges them to keep up with him as he begins to quickly run toward Konoha, carrying Kakashi on his back. Lee believes Guy and Kakashi are actually training and offers to carry Neji, who flatly refuses the offer.
(Done!!!!!!!!!!!!!)(I copied Lee's and Neji's 'cause they were longer then Gai's and TenTen's. I typed out the other two profiles out of boredrem.

Naruto
Song of day- Lee's theme.
Picture of day-TenTen
Question of day: Did you see my quiz result from(way)below?
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

As many of you know, Naruto started out as a manga on Japanese fox spirits, quickly after some reranging, it became the most popular ninja manga in Japan! So, you know alot about the manga, but what about the character's, what you think you know, you may not! Behold, this could be the longest post you've ever seen. I'm giving out complete known records on some of my favorite ninja's!(As you may know, Neji is my favorite ninja, so I got bunches of info on him!)
More character updates will be added soon.~Koneako
~The hero of the story, Uzumaki Naruto!! He is the Hidden Leaf's Number
One Loudest Ninja, which is a title he more than lives up to. He
breaks the rules, he has to be the centre of attention, his
intelligence sinks below every other ninja, he is untalented in
comparison with his fellow Academy students, he is outspoken and
egotistical but most importantly: He has a Ninja spirit that never
gives up! Naruto might be the bottom of his classes and might not be a
genius of Ninjutsu but he is honest in everything he does, which is a
quality every ninja should have. Being our hero, he has a unique
ability that singles him out from any other character and, for once,
it's not due to an Advanced Bloodline. Sealed within Naruto is a
Nine-Tailed Demon Fox that attacked and almost destroyed the Hidden
Leaf Village. This immeasurable power was preserved inside of a
newborn babies body so that it couldn't return to demolish the Village
again. That baby was Naruto. So, being the person to have sacrificed
his body and future to save the village, you'd expect Naruto to be a
hero and martyr in the eyes of the villagers. This, however, couldn't
be farther from the truth.

~Haruno Sakura is a Konoha Genin assigned to team #7, along with Naruto and Sasuke. She has a crush on Sasuke, but doesn’t have the courage to tell him until the night he leaves Konoha forever. Sakura excels at genjutsu-countering techniques and is a total bookworm, as demonstrated from her mastery of the written portion of the Chuunin exam, which were meant to completely stump anyone under mid-Chuunin level.

~Hatake Kakashi is the Jounin in charge of Sasuke, Sakura and Naruto. He never shows his face, always wearing the mask shown here. His left eye was destroyed in war when he was young, and due to unique circumstances, he was given the eye of his dying teammate, who happened to be from the Uchiha clan. Hence, Kakashi has a single Sharingan eye. Kakashi is also a former member of the Anbu (elite ninja assassination team), and excels in hunting down anyone and anything. He also has a special technique, Chidori, which utilizes raw chakra at high speeds and decimates the enemy with it.
Hyuuga Neji

~Hyuuga Neji: Destiny's Child
Three words can effectively sum up Neji: calm, cooled and collected.
Hailed as the prodigy of the Hyuuga clan, [an ancient family in the
Hidden Leaf Village] Neji is a genius who has already mastered some of
the most prestigious techniques the clan has to offer, and he is only
a year older than Naruto. Neji carries the Advanced Bloodline of the
"Byakugan" which is said to be one of the oldest advanced bloodline in
the Hidden Leaf and the veritable ancestor of the Uchiha clan. Neji is
notable by his snow-white eyes [which are possessed by the entire
clan]. So with this regal heir, Neji has become quite a haughty boy.
He claims that destiny is the end all for everything and that we as
humans cannot do anything. For such a talented young man that is one
major downfall: his vindictive and bitter attitude towards people is
something to be disliked. As we see from the series this mentality is
passed down from generation to generation.
The Hyuuga family is split into two parts: the Main House and the
Branch House. The reason they are separated is because the Main House
is destined to hold the original blood of the Hyuuga and as such its
heritage must be protected. The Branch house was created to protect
the Main House at all costs thus resulting in the death and suffering
of many a Branch House member. This slighted feeling that the Branch
House possess is not unfounded. The Branch House members are put under
a terrible curse at a young age. A curse seal Jutsu is cast on them
and the symbol of "Bird in the Cage" is marked into their forehead
which will stay there until they die. This brand isn't just to
distinguish the Main House from the Branch House; it is in place so
that the Main House can maintain a level of control to the lower
members of the Hyuuga clan. A simple hand seal inflicts massive amount
of agony into the mind of those who carry the mark and can quite
easily kill them if need be. Neji belongs to the Branch House, and is
marked like his fellow House members and his deceased father before
him. This is where his hatred for the Main House and Hinata [his
cousin] spawned.
When Neji was four years old, a Shinobi from the Cloud Country arrived
in the Leaf Country to sign an alliance treaty because the warring
factions had been at war for some time. All the while, it was the
Hyuuga heir's birthday. The heir was Neji's cousin, Hinata. This would
also be the day Neji had his seal carved into his head. Neji and
Hinata's fathers were twins. Hinata's father Hiashi was the first-born
of the pair and became a member of the Main House; Neji's father
Hizashi was put into the Branch House. It was Hiashi who placed the
seal onto Neji, making him a true Branch House member and he was sworn
to protect the advanced blood for the rest of his life. A few days
after the Shinobi from the Cloud Country had arrived, someone
attempted to kidnap Hinata. Hiashi father quickly disposed of the
assailant and revealed that it was the same Shinobi who had just
signed the alliance agreement. It turned out that the Cloud Country
was one of the many countries out to obtain the secrets of the Hyuuga
and their Byakugan.
Enraged at the death of one of their leaders the Cloud Country
demanded that Hiashi [the man who killed their Shinobi] be sacrificed.
After much contemplation the Leaf Village succumbed to the Cloud's
demands. However, to keep the blood of the Main House alive, Hizashi's
life was sacrificed and his corpse was sent to replace that of his
brother [without letting Cloud know this]. That is the reason Neji
hates the Main House. Without hesitation they sacrificed his father's
life for the betterment of the Main House. Neji directed all of his
hatred of the Main House on Hinata who was their heir, albeit she was
much weaker than Neji and completely incompetent as a Ninja to boot. A
child with the potential to harness the ultimate power of the Hyuuga
to its limit and at the same time is denied the heir is irony that
Neji cannot comprehend. His goal is to surpass the Main House and to
become so strong that nobody can defeat him. It is no doubt that with
the Byakugan in his arsenal such a goal is entirely possible.
Neji's eyes allow him to do a lot of exceptional techniques but they
also give him the comfort of having an absolute defense. One of his
key techniques is the Heavenly Spin. Using the Byakugan to its
potential, Neji can see 359° around his body and sense nearly all the
attacks approaching him. Then, using his Hakkeshou, [the Chinese
martial art of gentle fist fighting] Neji unlocks his chakra openings
and unleashes large amounts of chakra to stop the incoming assault. He
then uses his body to spin at high speeds to blast away anything
within range. This technique has been only conquered by the Main House
to date. For Neji to master this technique is extraordinary. Another
example of Neji's attacks is the 64 hands of Hakke. This is a special
technique that blocks every single chakra opening on the opponent's
body. This completely seals the chakra holes in the body [entrances in
which chakra are released] rendering any Jutsus useless. The 64 hands
of Hakke needs an extreme physical capability and for Neji to use it
so facilely indubitably shows his brilliance as a Ninja.

~Mitarashi Anko is a Jounin of Konoha, in charge of the second part of the Chuunin exam. She was also once Orochimaru’s student, until he abandoned Konoha. She has a curse seal but doesn’t use it; when she notices Orochimaru’s presence in the Chuunin exam, she does everything in her power to try to stop him, but still fails.

~Nara Shikamaru is a Konoha Genin (later a Chuunin) from team #8, along with Chouji and Ino. He’s lazy and unmotivated, but is also a genius. He’s the only Genin in the Chuunin exam who actually becomes a Chuunin, and because of this, he gets selected to lead a genin team to retrieve Sasuke from the “Sound’s Five.” Shikamaru uses shadows as weapons, with the Kagemane no Jutsu (Shadow bind) as his main technique.

~Gaara has lived a troubled life. He is feared by his
whole village because of his abilities and how he a
partial demon. Before he was even born his father
wanted to make the most of his youngest son and let
the demon Shukaku take over Gaara body. His own mother
was kille and Gaara was place under care of his aunt
an elite ninja in the village. After determining that
Gaara was a danger to the village. He then sent
assaisans after his own son. One of which was the aunt
he loved so much. After this event gaara engraved the
mark you see on his head onto his head. After much
denial about why he was born into this world only to
have it stripped away, he decided that his new purpose
in life was to kill people.

~Kankurou, the middle child of the Kazekage, is very quick to act. Even the smallest of things sets him off. This short-tempered genin uses poisoned filled puppets to kill his enemies. He hides poisoned blades in every compartment of the puppet. Just in case the puppet becomes disassembled. He controls this puppet with special chakra strings, which he can cut at any time. Kankurou is very good at medium range attacks, but not so good at hand to hand. All one would need to do is sneak up on him from behind.

~Temari, the eldest child of the Kazekage, is a master with wind. She has the ability to nullify any thrown weapon. She is also very quick on her feet. She is equipped with a giant fan that has the power to blow great bursts of wind at her enemy or make sand spots that will make them slip. She was given the task, along with Gaara and Kankurou, to destroy the Hidden Village of the Leaf from the inside out using the Chunnin exam as an excuse to get into the village.

Back to school...
*Moan* I have to go back to school tomarrow...
Shikamaru: Ugh, this is such a pain!
Ino: Be quiet Shikamaru!
Choji: Chips, check, cookies, check...
Sasuke: Whatever...
Naruto: Hey Sakura, you look good in that school uniform!
Sakura: Naruto!
Neji:...These are our class mates?!?
TenTen: *Holding Neji's hand* Don't worry Neji!
Lee: Yes! A chalenge in arithmatic, this should be good.
Koneako:But at least I get to see my friends, but...not Rylee*WWAAAHHH!!!* Wouldn't it be cool to have a class of MyOtaku buddies?!? That'd be awsome!!! Our school district say's we're getting school uniforms next year. Most people don't like that, but if you got an anime school uniform from Japan, I think's that'd be cute, not "flashy".

Home alone.
Heh, my mother has a high position in the N.I.C.U so she's going out of town tonight for one of her "big" meeting's. And she's going out of town for one whole week. And for those of you who know I don't have a father, that mean's I'm home alone for a whole week with technicly just Ooccoo the third Hau-the cow and McGowen and Creighton which are my other younger siblings. But, it's not a big deal anyway. I'm still depressed about my friends. I keep on thinking that it didn't happen, but it did! It's stressful. It's like my mind know's that they're gone, but my heart stiil thinks they're here. *sigh* I need to go cook dinner. ByeBye!

Rylee.
R is for radient, beauty without compare.
Y is for youthful, sweet and fair.
L is for laughter, so precious and loved.
E is for enchanting, gift from above.
E is for elegant, treasured as gold.
Rylee is caring, a thoughtful soul.
You like? ^-^ Now I just have to buy a picture frame to put it in.
