Yesterday's Wash
Yup, laundry.
Yesterday was a wash indeed. I have no idea why I only posted comments and nothing else, but the day is long and I was quite preoccupied with making a site button for myself. It doesn't work, and theres no matter in how I rearrange the javascript (which I coincidentally don't know how to understand), I just couldn't get it to work. I would have had a post yesterday, but I suppose I need to own a server to put my button's html format on my page. It also figures that if it did work just as it's supposed to, it would take 25 lines of code and nearly 150 characters to put it in my profile. I'll just make something simple instead, maybe a gif image. Argh! I can't decide!
Art?
Last night-er-this morning, I decided to try a bit of abstract. I had seen someone else doing one in pen at Ikkicon, and while it looked interesting, I knew it was possibly the easiest thing in the art world. I took my blue sheet of paper (I have about six reams of the stuff) and started drawing curving lines. I then drew some more curving lines parallel to the curving lines I had drawn. I tried making them look like leaves, I tried making them look like stars, and I tried making them look like something (without putting a single angle in any line). I began starting new curving lines perpendicular to the others and I filled the page with organized nonsense. The only thing I really accomplished is finding a way to give myself 'O.C.D.'. I wasted an hour on this 'thing' that some would pay nearly ten dollars for and I was nearly half-asleep when I started. I'll just take this opportunity to tell anyone reading this, that if you happen to find this sort of ink-drawing at an art auction - - DON'T BUY IT! Sure its entertaining to look at, but it doesn't show you anything new. I'm sure that even the worst artists could make something like it if they tried a little. Heck, if I could use my wasted time (note: it wasn't me that was wasted) to make a decent ten bucks, I would sell that thing immediately; but since I know how easy it is and I can share it with somebody, I'll share it in the most honest way I know: If they aren't starving, deaf, or blind (that would be something), don't buy this kind of simple art unless it's well colored and shaded.
Chapter 3: Part 1
Kai woke up the next morning, his hand was still numb and his head was spinning. The fight with Konsetsuo left him tired and confused. His fingers popped as he clenched his fist to circulate his blood. His hand gradually got its feeling back, but still tingled as if the nerves had been disrupted.
The day before was both exciting and frightening. Kai had learned much more than he had anticipated and almost got himself killed by a young ninja swordsman. The one thing that saved him was his unskilled use of this 'power'. Another minute running would have given Konsetsuo the upper-hand. In the corner of his room, he had laid the sword down. He knew that it would never be the same, even if it were reforged. The blade was a perfect serrated edge and the hilt was so intricately designed you could look at it for hours.
"Kai, you're late for class!" Kai turned and saw Booshi in his doorway.
"I don't want to go today," Kai answered.
"I suppose that means you don't want to be trained how to use the power I showed you yesterday? Perhaps you already know how to control it?"
"Well, uh..."
"So you do? Well, then, by all means show me What you can do."
Kai ignored Booshi's mocking tone and went to the corner to pick up the remains of the broken sword.
"I don't think just anyone could do that," Kai said as he handed the pieces to Booshi and started to walk out the door.
"You must return this to his family. I assume he's not dead?"
"He's fine, he ran off after the sword broke off in my hands. He called me a baki molo or something."
"What he said was probably 'bakemono'. It means 'monster', but this village reserves the term for demons and people consumed by them. Go to class and be wary of the other students, there's no guarantee that the boy kept his mouth shut."
Kai left Booshi in the tree-house holding the broken sword.
"What kind of power will this boy have?"
