I didn’t figure on going to Fiesta. Mostly cause it costs more money than it really should, but since I don’t quite favor hobbies such as being smushed in tightly packed crowds of rowdy drunk people and having a very large chance of beer being poured on me (I have heard many a story of beer rain from survivors), Fiesta was prolly not quiet my sort of scene. Thursday night was college night for niosa (niosa = Night In Old San Antonio. A lot of the stuff for the event is held in and around old historic parts of downtown).

But yeah. Thursday afternoon, a friend unexpectedly invited me to come along with him, his older brother and another friend of his. And that is how I ended up going. Whenever we go to the entrance, he paid for half my ticket ($10 just to get in) and that was very sweet of him. *nods*

Niosa = Walk around, eat food, look at stuff, drink alcohol (if able. Oddly enough this year seemed to be the year the police felt like making an attemptto crack down on underage drinking for Fiesta. Ha, I’ve heard many a story about under 21 drinking occurring downtown, as it seems to be common knowledge that no one cares during Fiesta. I say attempt cause the one girl that was with us (the only one from our group that drank) had a relative’s state ID to get alcohol from the vendors, as she was underage and looked kind of similar to the relative.)

We got back around 11. If you ever hear stories about Fiesta, all I can say is that they’re probably true. The only other time I’ve seen so many pairs of boobs was when I watched the uncensored version of Harold and Kumar go to White Castle. *raises eyebrow*

Even though there were times when I was smushed in crowds of people, I didn't have beer spilled on me. It happend very close more times than I'd like to count, but in the end, it didn't happen. *wipes sweatdrop*

It was interesting and sort of fun, for walking around and eating random types of (expensive) food. I don't regret going. *shakes head*

Anyways. Soon after I got back, my room mate and her boyfriend took me and three other friends to IHOP, and we didn’t get back to the dorms till like 2:45 am, which was bad cause I had a test at 9:30 am and I wanted to get in some decent sleep and still wake up to study for it. One of the guys from our group was doing his laundry in our building sort of illegally (long story; has to do with the laundry machines in his building being very sucky and thusly a waste of your money) and so was illegally staying in my friends room with her and her boyfriend (yes, her boyfriend being in her room illegally because it was long past after hours.) Somehow or other, the one guy friend ended up in my room and quickly hooked on the one flash file paddle ball game that I have. Now that I think about it, I think he ended up in my room cause he felt odd being in the room with the couple, as they’re very… affectionate (to put it mildly) with each other around everyone.

I was sitting in the one chair and scootched backwards. There was an earsplitting screeching noise and I found it an odd noise for my chair to make when it suddenly hit me that it wasn’t the chair that made it.

The fire alarm in my dorm building was going off. I swear, I think I was like the fourth person to be out of the building. Haha, mostly cause I was still up, and also cause I had the guy friend in the room with me. I didn’t want to be caught by any of the resident assistants and get into loads of trouble for it, so yeah.

Speaking of illegal guests, roughly half of the evacuated people standing outside in pajamas (it was around 3:20 am then) were people who either don’t live in our building or don’t even live on campus to begin with. I found that rather amusing.

15 minutes later the RA’s come and tell us that it was a false alarm; everything is ok and to go back in our rooms.

I think I got an hour of sleep before the test. *shrugs*

It seems that all schools in San Antonio, public or private, were let out at 12 pm because of the battle of the flowers parade, but I think more for Fiesta in general. I think the mayor of San Antonio goes on tv and announces it or something. Didn’t really matter all too much for me this year, seeing as how I got 20 minutes taken off my last class for the day anyways, and the easiest class I have no less.

I woke up from a nap to look out my window in awe. It was dark out and the wind was blowing so hard that the large white birds that live on the trees on the little island in the middle of the lake looked like they were suspended perfectly still in the air. Then the wind got stronger and blew them off backwards.

From the distance I saw a huge rolling swirling misty-white land cloud (It looked to be touching from the ground to the high sky). It was quickly approaching the direction of the campus, and so I promptly closed my window. The sky lit up with a fierce bright blue light a few times, and the strange misty white cloud touched down on the lake and rushed smack into my building. The misty white land cloud was a rolling swirling ball of intense rain. Whenever I looked down my window and into the parking lot, there was so much water, rain and wind that the parking lot literally had waves rolling across it, and so the parking lot looked like a deep black top ocean, with my dorm building sitting right in the middle of it all.

The whole thing was freaking kick ass. I really love storms.

*grins*

Around 5:30 in the morning there was the horrid screeching noise again. I was slightly annoyed cause I was messing around on the computer, but with only underwear and a sports bra and there was no way in the world I was going to go anywhere like that, much less run and rush outside into the freezing cold and wet for an obviously false alarm.

Most figured it a false alarm as well, as they were grudgingly straggling slowly out their doors and down the halls, as opposed to the hurried frenzy of the previous night.

So yeah. Another false alarm.

It has been whispered that a few police people are going to be hanging around opportune places in my building for a while, so we might not have another false alarm till everyone lets their guard down.

Eh. I kinda view all this as sorch of childish, slightly annoying, but more or less amusing. Granted, I have yet to be woken up from the fire alarms, as I was wide awake both times it happened. My amusement just might fade as fast as the sleep from my eyes, if it so happens that the alarm catches me next time in the middle of sleep. *half grins and shakes head*

Ugh. The both times that the alarms went off, two friends of mine never left the building, as they had somehow slept through the horrid screeching and flashing of lights. That’s scary, but what’s scarier is that I can very well see myself sleeping through something like that in the right conditions. It seems I have full enthusiasm for whatever it is that I put my mind to, whether it be procrastination to sleeping. So when I sleep, I sleep hardcore.

This is the last week of classes, which is why I’m dedicating this weekend to lost causes of homework and extra credits. Finals are the week following, so yeah. Still trying to figure out a place to stay for the summer. I’m sure something will happen soon, and if not then oh well. I’m not going to die from it, so it isn’t as huge a deal as other stuff. *shrugs*

As part of the campus ministry staff, it is required for me to help with the graduation ceremonies. So from now till the 12th or 13th, if you don’t catch me online or in person, you prolly won’t be able to till late August. So speak now or till August hold your peace. =P

Eh? 0_o;;;
