Chpater 4 People!!! - How wrong could it get...
Hey everyone!! The long awaited chapter 4 is up!! Hope you have a good time reading it! There might be some mistakes as i havent got it proof read by someone else, please forgive me!
“Fuck them! Fuck the whole lot of them,” Laney slammed the phone back on to the stand. Her face was glowing red like fire and her eyes were blood shot. She stood up and took deep breathes as she began pacing in her office.
What a morning it had been. First her car had broken down; secondly she was late for a board meeting and thirdly her business partners was giving her grief about her trades. Laney was not the type to get very stressful under situations like this; she normally kept her clam and thought her way though these kinds of circumstances.
However, today things had changed, not for the good but took a turn for the worse. Everything was going totally wrong, everything she wanted to go right was just not happening.
The brunette stopped pacing and stood in front of her large office window, concentrating on the scenery around her, watching the birds flying across the horizon. This normally would calm her down and make her think but not today, nothing was processing, nothing was happening apart from the erroneous idiotic people that had the tendency to piss her off.
She stood there in her formal navy blue outfit, her left arm wrapped around her stomach and her right hand resting on her flushed cheek. The young lady stood still, like a statue and stared in to the view of a business crowded environment. Nothing dared to move, her office was completely sound, no one even thought about knocking on the door.
As her company members walked passed, they just saw a slender woman standing in that one spot, not a single movement; no one could even tell if she was alive or just standing dead.
Then there was a gentle knock at her door, Laney didn’t move nor say anything. The anonymous person knocked again quietly, she still didn’t move or give permission for him or her to enter. The member opened the door quietly trying not to disturb their boss.
“Leave it on the table…” The statue spoke but carried on looking outside “I will check it through later, you may leave.” Laney sounded calm; the worker left the paper work on her table and walked out silently. Emotionless, Laney turned around and looked at her table, it was completely full of all random coloured papers, nothing had been done yesterday seeing that she fell ill and Seto took her home.
“That’s it,” She whispered to herself “I need a break, a walk will do,” muttering under her breath as she grabbed her mobile, she slipped it in to her blazer pocket and picked up her handbag and swung it on to her right shoulder. The silent lady walked out of her office and walked towards the lifts at the end of the corridor.
“I’m going for a walk, take messages if you need to,” Her head was bowed down as she walked passed her secretary.
“Umm… yes ma’am,” a clear concerned voice responded to Laney’s comment. The secretary observed her boss’ movement, so emotionless and energy drained.
The lift bell rang and Laney took her steps and placed herself in the middle of the confined space. She then pressed the button for ground floor and waited for her arrival. The bell rang again and the doors shut.
Whilst in the lift, Laney started to recall the events that happened last night. She remembered the sweet taste of Seto lips upon hers, evoking the feeling of his heated body next to hers as she slept.
“Stop it,” she murmured, “he could never do that, he’s a heartless bastard.” A tear streamed down Laney’s face, she knew she was wrong, she knew what she saw last night was genuine. It was Seto who comforted her last night, it wasn’t a fantasy. It was Seto who she had kissed last night. It was Seto who put her in to bed and finally it was Seto who she had felt lying next to her as she slept.
But Laney didn’t want to believe that, she was in totally denial. Getting more irritated with herself, she wrapped her arms around herself and clenched on tightly to her clothes.
It seemed like a long time had gone passed until the lift doors had opened. She stepped out of the lift and began walking towards the exit. Laney raised her head and saw revolving doors standing in front of her. ‘Did I just walk that far that quickly?’ She stood in front of them thinking to herself. She then took her steps into a gap and walked herself out of the building.
A sudden gush of fresh air hit her, her sleek brown hair spread out as the wind trailed through it. She remained motionless for a few seconds as she closed her eyes and took a deep breath in and exhaled. Laney then tilted her head back and opened her eyes. She could see the sun smiling down at her, the birds flying happily together and a naked blue sky with not a cloud in sight.
Laney turned to start walking but only to be knocked over by a skateboarder who didn’t even stop to say sorry.
“Hey lady, you ok?” a rather ill-mannered voice shouted out to her. Laney held her head with her hand and looked at who was talking to her.
“Jonouchi, wait up!” another voice shouted from the crowd in the distance.
Laney grabbed the hand that was offered to her and got to her feet. Even though she was dazzled, Laney checked to see if her mobile and her handbag were safe, which they were. ‘Thank god,’ Laney thought to herself. Still in her own world she didn’t realise who were standing around her.
“Excuse me miss…” A quiet girlish voice called out to her “are you ok?” The little one places his hand on Laney’s arm and looked up at her. Laney took a slight jump back as she didn’t expect that to happen. She turned around and looked at the people and studied them further.
“Umm… Have I seen you before?” A girl appeared from behind the crew of boys, dressed in a short blue denim skirt and pale green sleeveless top; she has white shoes on and bracelets on her wrists which complemented her clothing.
“You know what!” That voice called out again, he sounded like a rude boy gangster. “You are Laney Toshiki, aren’t you?” Laney felt almost interrogated by them and started to back away. But then she stopped. She took another good look at the young lad who was just talking to her. He stood tall, wind blowing through his golden hair. He was dress rather casually; black t-shirt, blue jeans and almost new trainers. “Well… I’m a right?”
“Yes you are,” Laney said quietly. Jonouchi fist flew in front of his face and grinned as he was proud about his guess. “And could you not talk too loudly, I’m not deaf.” Jonouchi took a slight fall as he was in shock with her remark. “And I am not in the mood for talking.” Laney started to walk off, it was clear that she didn’t want to be around people at the moment.
“Well something has got her underwear in a twist, just like Kaiba!” Jonouchi turned around to face Anzu and Yugi.
“She was friendlier when we met her the first time round.” The little porcupine head said with a hint of concern in his voice. “Maybe… I guess she is not having much luck today.” The group turned and looked in the direction which Laney walked in and watch her as she began to merge in to the stirring crowd.
* * *
“Bloody people!” Laney muttered under her breath as she walked “I wish they would just disappear, to hell with them!” Laney was getting all aggravated again, her whole day, what a disappointment. Her fist clenched together making her knuckles go white, her nails dug in to her hands and yet she could not feel any pain.
Dodging people as she walked was almost a talent for her, she did not have to look where she was going and she could still avoid people that were walking past her.
‘It’s not possible,’ she started to think again ‘why? He doesn’t seem to be the Seto I know… But still, I want him. Why so many feelings? Why so many thoughts? Why?! Why?! Why?!’ Now Laney’s thinking was getting her all worked up. Everything was getting cloudy again, black patches began to appear. ‘What's happening?” Laney was in pure confusion, she didn’t know what was happening. She had no idea where she was walking; she thought that she was still on the footpath.
All of a sudden a car came out from no where; Laney was unaware that she was crossing the road. The bright red Ferrari horn blared. However Laney was in her on world, she had no sense of where she was. The sport car horned again. But the young lady took no notice, she still carried on walking. Then breaks screeched and the car swerved trying to avoid her. Laney finally woke up from her deep thinking but it was too late. She saw the car coming towards but she froze. She couldn’t move. She was still as a statue. She kept watching this car that was completely out of control coming towards her. Her eyes widen in fear, she couldn’t move, her arms froze, she couldn’t feel her legs, they weren’t responding to her hails. She couldn’t move and her body rejected everything her brain tried to tell her to do. She stared in fear watching this out of control car come towards her.
Then everything went dark. She couldn’t see, couldn’t move, refused to speak and refused to reach out for someone. What had happened? She doesn’t know. Was she hit? She doesn’t know.
They brunette lay still, the bright red car had swerved and hit a wall and attempting to avoid her but it didn’t. She had taken on a direct collision and she was totally unaware of it. People started to gather around, some check on the driver, whilst some check on the concussed lass.
Laney was still in her own thoughts. ‘Who was the driver? Have I been hit? Why can’t I get up? Why is everything so dark? Help me!’ Laney groaned with pain. Her thought of interrogation was leading her nowhere.
“Miss, are you ok?” a stranger called out. “Can you hear me?” He called again. “There’s no luck, she can’t hear me. Has some one called an ambulance?”
‘An ambulance? What's going on?” Laney was very confused, she had no idea what had happened.
“The driver has been injured!” Another voice had called out from the crowd. So many voices but nothing was clear enough to understand.
‘Who’s the driver?” Laney thought to herself again. ‘That red car… it can’t be… can it? No there is no possible way it could be him!” Laney hit a panic attack, stricken on who the drive could be. Then everything started to go quiet. ‘Wait… Wait… I need to know if it is him or not,’ But no one could hear her. The darkness began to swallow up everything. There were no colours, no light, and no thoughts residing with her. Was she still there or had she finally come to the end of her line? There was nothing left.
