Yar be havin' a good day, aye?
[I just lost all of my post, let's try this again.]
Yahar! Today has been fine, better than this salty brine I say, yarr!
Okay, enough of the bad pirate rhyming.
Today has been awesome.
We all got up [unintentionally] at 4:45 or so this morning and discovered that all wanted to open presents, so we did.
lol
Blair loved The Wish List and Mum 'n Dad loved their presents as well.
Not as much as the ones they gave us though.
Muhuhu, WRC 2: Extreme, AirBlade, a Nickleback Album and an awesome LOTR 'The one Ring' bookmark.
^_^
I have music, and games that I can vs people in and actually use the second controller, lol.
Blair, however, really surprised me. This year he gave me two singles [Hee, more music, he's so awesome]. A Nickleback [Someday] one and, wait for it, a Jet Single, Be My Girl.
*dances*
I now have three music CD's.
It's amazing, seeing as I got my CD stereo thingy when I was twelve. It took four years, but I have my own music.
[No, the 'Backstreet Boys' and 'Hanson' CD's Mum and Dad bought me with the Stereo do not count, as the clerk recommended them to go with the stereo, as I recently discovered]
[Oh the shame]
But yes, much of the music and the game playing.
[Oh the goodness]
[My brother has reached previously unknown levels of coolness]
This arvy we're also having a huge christmas lunch, followed by a water fight, that's fuelled by 500+ waterbombs.
^_____^
Tomorrow we're going to Grandma's for a big family thing [in which Dad will incite another gigantic water fight, lol].
Now I've got all the commericial and frivolous Christmas things aside, I recommend to all of you to watch 'The Christmas Truce'
There is a reason why the 'watch' is in bold.
I saw that special a couple nights back, and it left me pretty speechless. For a person that prides themself on the ability to describe things with a plentiful amount of adjectives, I was short changed.
To put it simply, it was eye opening.
For those not familiar with the gist of the story, it is about the 'Great War' [WW1] that was fought on the boundary of Fance and [Belgium?].
Trench warfare, the whole shebang.
This was still in the era of warfare where the automatic rifle and the army was the main focus, where the gigantic Mark 1 Male tanks were invented.
An era before the concept of 'Air support' was idealised.
The British and European nationalities still had the concept of 'chivarly' instilled in them from their previous generations, and through that, on some parts of the trenches, an uneasy truce was formed.
There's a cut scene/reinactment that really, well, iono. You've got to see it and experience the emotions for yourself.
It's kind of heartwarming and somehow sad at the same time.
As I was saying, there's this one scene where a German soldier climbs up into No-man's land, holding a Christmas tree aloft above him.
Candles are cradled in the little tree's branches and the soldier has a worried smile, but proceeds through to the British side, completely unarmed.
It's such an act of naive good nature, you can't help but feel, uplifted, per se, for seeing it.
The British snipers go to fire
[both sides have been informed that any acts of enemy sympathy will be harshly punished, even being shot by their superiors for treason], but they don't.
They put their weapons down and one of them goes out to greet the German soldier.
At this point I'd like to inform you that the average age of these soldiers [the enlisted men] is between 16 and 20.
I'd tell you more, but if I revealed the rest, it'd take away from the experience.
You've just got to watch it.
For those of you with the History Channel, there was a little History Channel logo after the BBC one in the credits.
Most probably it'd be on, but I don't know if the US cable companies would be interested in the signs of humanity in a British/Euro war...
Merry Christmas and all that, hope you have a good one.
^_^
EDIT: Oh wow...
x.X;
This Jet single is officially the coolest music CD I have ever seen. I just put it into the PC then, and it came up with, 'to play this CD you must update your player.'
I clicked yes.
This little player opens up, and it so cool.
*collapses into happy goo and puts brother's coolness up a notch*
