'Hurt who?' Sanosuke looks behind you at Aoshi,
'Him?' Your entire face feels like its on fire
from blushing. Aoshi swallows hard and Sanosuke
realizes the situation. 'Oh. It's like that.'
Before you can reach out to him, he turns his
back to you. 'Sanosuke, I, I'm,' ::sigh::
'Thank you . . . for coming to get me.'
'Apparently I didn't need to waste my time.'
'That was cruel, Sano.' You say quietly.
'Yeah?' he turns around, 'Well so is messin'
with people's heads, Missy!' 'Sanosuke, I never
meant to! I didn't know - ' But he doesn't let
you finish. 'Just go.' He starts walking back
towards your brother. 'Have a nice life with
the criminal.' 'Sano!' 'I'll see you at your
funeral, right after he slits your throat.'
'Sano . . . I didn't mean to . . .' The look in
your brother's eyes tells you not to say
another word. Obviously . . . this means
Sanosuke . . . is crying as he wipes his face.
Shinjuku runs up to you when Sanosuke makes it
into the forest. 'Hopefully, I shall see you
soon sister.' He embraces you tightly and you
return the love. 'I'll give elder brother your
affection when he awakens.' He lets go to take
a look at you as if he might never see you
again. It could be true, Shinjuku has a way of
predicting these things (remember the bad
feeling he got when he met Kenshin and
Sanosuke? So there.). One last time, he kisses
you on the cheek as you kiss his. 'Good luck,'
he whispers in your ear before leaving. He
turns back around several times to wave until
he gets to the wood. Finally, it comes down to
just you, Aoshi, and the ever-setting sun.
