Stories of Band Camp 2006 (Part 1)
Okay, as promised, stories of band camp! XD However, since there are so many stories, I'm breaking them up into different parts. Part 1 will consist entirely of what happened on Day One of band camp. ^_^ Enjoy!

MONDAY:
Not much happens. We leave at like 9:30ish-something-rather-I-dunno... Anyways, we get there (after getting lost first) and everyone has to unload... everything. And before anyone can head up to their rooms, they have to get their keys from the administrators. In addition to all this madness, it's blazing hot... LIKE 90 DEGREES OR SOMETHING!!!!!!!! It's like... death... X_X
So after all this happens, I have to have Josh help me lug my suitcase and things upstairs since I'm wimpy and he's macho... ^_^ So since we got lost, I don't have any time to settle in before heading out to the cafeteria. But that's okay... we had time later. ^_^
Then on to lunch! We have this rule that seniors get to cut everyone, then juniors get to cut underclassmen, sophomores get to cut freshmen, and freshmen stay in the back. But this year's freshmen are - how do I say this nicely??? - BIG-HEADED!!!!!!!!!! XP XP XP Seriously! Josh, one of my other friends, and I are WAAAAAAAAAAAYYYY in the back while our classmates are cutting all the freshmen. My friend points out to the freshmen that sophomores are allowed to cut them, and all they say is, "You're point is?"
DO
THEY
REALIZE
HOW
MANY
TIMES
I
HAD
TO
WAIT
IN
THE
BACK
LAST
YEAR
???????????????????????????????????????
XP
...
So anyways, that rule pretty much dissolved this year... T_T
Then after we have time to settle in, we have to hike down to the indoor practice field (aka: tennis courts) because we couldn't use the full band room... I dunno why... But anyways, the whole campus is situated on a series of hills... And it took us AT LEAST eight minutes or so to walk from our non-air conditioned dorm down to our destination... my feet were hurting already, and we hadn't even started practice... T_T
So we get there... and the acoustics aren't exactly the best for a full band. I mean seriously, I would hear sound from us like 5 seconds after we stopped playing. And add the color guard practicing on the other side of the same room... XP I caught Josh looking at color guard... (htoh'g awoi, Vagt; Y wbak iae kufu nafuq... ^_^ )
So I forget what happens after that. I think we had to go to dinner already... I don't remember... XP ... Anyways, not much happens at dinner either (as far as I remember anyway... ^_^' ). After dinner, we have to hike down to the real practice field... ANOTHER GOOD 8-MINUTE WALK DOWNHILL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ... I am calm... XP ...
Anyways, even though it's evening already, it's still blazing hot... X_X ... So some people don't feel like doing stretches, so our band director makes us all run a lap around the practice field. AAAARRRRRRGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!! I BET THOST PEOPLE WERE FRESHMEN!!!!!!!!! X_X
Anyways, we get on to basics. Okay, basics aren't that hard if you try, but some people... AHEM!!! ... aren't trying, so our director's yelling at everyone, saying it's not that hard, yadda yadda... I was too hot to listen... X_X
Finally, after we finish basics, we have to set pre-game, but we don't exactly get far since we spent most of our time doing basics.
But anyways, we walk back up the monstrous hill to our dorms so we can get ready for our nightly activity... Monday night is Freshmen Initiation... MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :rub hands together menacingly: ^_^ All we did was sit in an air conditioned room (WOOT WOOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! XD XD XD XD ) with all non-newbies sitting in a circle around the freshmen and other newbies who are sitting in a glob in the middle. Since there are so many freshmen this year and hardly any seniors, each senior got 2 freshmen/newbies. Josh got my roomie and this Kickline girl. The Kickline is a dance team that does shows with the band during marching season. They're mostly nice, but some of them are just plain... whatever... they're like cheerleaders to the extreme... XP
So after all that, we head back to the dorms, get ready for bed, yadda yadda... Good night!!! ^_^ (end of Monday...)

Well, I hope at least some of you read that far... Sorry it was so long. This is why I had to break it up into different parts... ^_^' Okies, well, I hope everyone has a wonderful day today!!! ^_^
