Odds and Ends
Hey everyone, just thought I'd update since it's been a while. I hope everyone had a happy Halloween; where did October go? Really, it just breezed by for me. Anyway, I'm starting on a Rei Ayanami costume. It went off to a bit of a rocky start.
In the past, I've sewn all of my own costumes; however, I found a bodysuit online that would be perfect for Rei's plugsuit. I figured I'd just buy that and add the details and whatnot myself. However, when I received the suit and tried it on, it was WAY too sheer; I didn't want to be a 'see through' Rei, so I had to return it. The costume's going better now, though. I found a pattern for a bodysuit, and I'm going to buy the fabric tomorrow. The wig I ordered should be coming soon, too. As you can tell, I'm really excited about making this costume. Rei's one of my favorite anime characters. I just hope I can finish it in time for the December anime convention.
Oh yeah, Flueky has inspired me with her questions of the day. I thought it would be a good way to get to know you all a little better.
Anyway, here's the Q of the day: What's your favorite mindlessly funny movie(s)? The type of movie you can just sit down and laugh about, and not really have to pay full attention? I have too many favorites to name; "Wayne's World" and "Groundhog Day" are a few, though ^_^.

The Cosplay Bug
I am so happy 'cause I just found out I will get to attend an anime convention in December. Anime conventions are also synonymous for 'cosplay' in my book, so I've been hit with the inspiration to start working on my costumes again.
What the heck is 'cosplay'? Cosplay is creating and wearing a costume of a fictional or media-inspired character. Most cosplayers choose to dress up and attend anime conventions as Anime or video game characters, or even Jpop/Jrock celebrities. In my case, I choose to dress up as my favorite anime characters.
It's just a fun, geeky hobby that lets you utilize your creativity.
Anyway, I have a few costumes up at Cosplay.com. If you'd like to see my costumes, you can view my cosplay gallery here: My cosplay!
Yes, it's a shameless plug. Deal with it. :P

The English release of the Outlaw Star manga!
My sources tell me that the first volume of the Outlaw Star manga is being released on October 27! That's in two weeks! As an obsessive, die-hard OLS fan, I am extremely excited. I'll finally be able to read and understand the manga instead of just looking at random manga pics on various websites.
Anyway, here's a link so you can see for yourselves:
OLS Manga!
Not much info is available yet, but it seems this will be a Viz production. It's about time they brought the manga over here!
Anyway, I hope this is real.

I'm alive!
Hurricane Ivan did its damage, and I've emerged unscathed. Well, actually, I evacuated to Birmingham, but, hey, the house emerged unscathed ^_^. Anyway, I'm definitely counting my blessings. Lots of people around here still don't even have water or electricity, which royally sucks since it still gets hot during the day.
Anyway, not much else is happening. I'll probably post some new art within the next week.

Hurricane Ivan
It turns out Hurricane Ivan is headed right for Pensacola, FL, which is basically where I live. We have to evacuate first thing tomorrow morning, so I won't be online much for the next few days. We're going to stay with some relatives in Alabama. I really don't want to leave, 'cause I just got back from WI last week, but oh well; what can ya do.
You just never know with hurricanes; Frances was supposed to hit us, but it squeezed right past and we didn't even get so much as a drop of rain.
Anyway, if anyone else is in the line of fire, good luck and stay safe. May God be with you all.

Nuthin' Much.
I uploaded some new fan art. I'm really happy with 'Sweet Captivity.' I've been wanting to draw Harry and Mel for a while. Anyway, tell me what you think; it would cheer me up a bit.
Not much else is new, so I'll keep it short.
Later.

I just wanted to let you know that I'll be out of town for the next week. My sister's getting married! I'll be back in Wisconsin (my sis, along with the rest of my family live there).

I'm Back
My computer is back online now (yay!). Anyway, I said I'd write about Anime Festival Orlando, so write about it I shall.
It wasn't an overly huge con; however, there were still plenty of things to do. I cosplayed (dressed up) for the first time as Tsukasa, Lady Subaru, and Melfina and I can't wait till another convention comes around so I can do it again. It was funny heading out to the convention each morning in each characters' get-up, since I wasn't staying at the hotel of the convention. Needless to say, the muggles (non-Anime convention folk) got quite a show ^_^.
I'll post pictures as soon as they're uploaded.
By the way, was anyone from here at AFO?

Some New Fan Art
I just uploaded some new fan art:
"Snow Flower" -- This one features Cheza from 'Wolf's Rain'.
"Kenshin Fan Cel" -- Exactly that, LOL. The cel is acryllic paint on celluloid, and the background was created with Photoshop.
"Showtime!" -- Features Anthy and Utena from 'Revolutionary Girl Utena'. I reuploaded this one, since the category it belongs to is now up.
Well, that's it for now. I'll write about Anime Festival Orlando later.
Take care!

Sorry I didn't write sooner! I had to completely restart my computer 'cause it got infected with adware. Until the internet gets hooked up again, I'm stuck using my parents' computer.
I'm back in Florida now; my trip to Wisconsin turned out being a lot more fun than I thought it would be.
Anyway, I'm going to Anime Festival Orlando this weekend, which will cap off summer vacation this year. Back to school . . . yay . . . can you feel the sarcasm? LOL.
I'm entering my Lady Subaru costume in the costume contest; I'll let you know how it goes. Wish me luck!
