Still no pictures from Risingsun.net.
But when Maboroshi (con photographer) does post them, you'll get to see more pictures from MegaCon. And you'll get to see pictures of those monster 5 inch shoes.
In other news, I actually posted two new drawings in my gallery. Both of them had been drawn for a while -- I was just too busy/lazy to color them until this weekend.
This one guy in my speech class is taking this nasty medicinal crap to "detoxify his body." He takes the stuff (which looks something like molasses), puts a few pipets full in a cup, mixes it with juice, and drinks it down. And he does that right there at his desk before class starts. It smells extremely rancid, and he's claimed to have lost five pounds of "toxins" thus far. That class is without a doubt, my most bizarre class (probably since it encourages social interaction).
Yeah. I don't know why I decided to share that with you all, but, oh well. I like observing such strange randomness.

MegaCon was awesome! AKA long convention post of DEATH!!!
Wow. I can't believe it's already Wednesday. I would've updated sooner, but I just haven't had the time. I've been busy getting stuff done for school, but hey! I can finally post a few pictures my roommate so graciously took of our MegaCon experience. But first, here's my con report for MegaCon 2006:
Friday: It was originally just going to be me, my mom, and my roommate (Sakura 02), but since we had room for one more in the car and hotel room, my friend Melissa came along after some effective coaxing from her roommate. XD
So, we left for Orlando after our classes ended and arrived at the hotel around 3:30. After changing into our costumes, we went to the convention and picked up our weekend passes, since my roommate and I had already pre-registered. Melissa was just going to get a pass for Saturday, but luckily, this one guy approached us in line and offered to sell her his weekend pass for half the original price. So that was pretty awesome!
For the rest of the day, we met up with my friend Tristin (SpadesAce) and mulled around in the dealers room (where you can buy anime merchandise and stuff). Then my very good cosplaying friend Diana arrived a little while later, and we got some awesome pictures with her. There wasn't a whole lot going on Friday night, so after taking some pictures and mingling for a bit, we called it a night and went back to the hotel.
Saturday: We got to the convention around 10 (when the con opened), and I checked to see the status of the costume contest, since pre-judging was in the morning. Figuring it would take a while to get to my turn (since I was number 76), the three of us (Sakura02, Melissa, and I) went to the dealers room yet again, where we found manga (and even some anime DVD's) for $2 each! Then, after that, we met up with some other friends from our college who were waiting in line for their passes. While I was being pre-judged for the costume contest, Sakura02 and Melissa got autographs from some of the famous sci-fi/voice acting people. Later that evening was the actual presentation of the costume contest. I tried to get Sakura02 to enter, but she wouldn't, so she and Melissa did some stuff while I went backstage to get ready.
But behold, backstage I met up with my other friends from college who were doing a Naruto skit. They had been recruited by some other Naruto cosplayers to join them. So I hung out with them until it was our time to go on. I entered as White Duelist Utena, by the way.
Even though I didn't win anything, it was still fun being in the contest and getting to go on stage. My friend Diana did win Best in Show, though, so that was incredibly awesome!
After the contest, my feet were screaming at me after walking around in those monster 5.5 inch shoes, so I decided to go back to the hotel. My roommate and Melissa stayed at the convention for a bit so they could attend a painting workshop and check out the late-night rave.
Sunday: After being in Utena for the past two days, I decided to dress as Akito, since that's a very comfortable costume. I got some pictures with Diana since she was Tohru, we watched part of the AMV contest, checked out the dealers room one last time, and said our goodbyes since we had to head back home.
And now, pictures:
Diana as Anthy and me as Utena.
The professional con photographer got a lot of pictures of these costumes, so I'll be sure to post more as soon as he uploads his.
Melissa as Akito Melissa didn't have any costumes, so I let her borrow my Akito costume since, like me, she loves the insane villain-type characters. XD
My roommate (Sakura02) in her Hanmyo costume.
Me as Akito and Diana as Tohru.
Why is it that Diana and I always end up mutilating eachother in our cosplay pictures? XD
And the scary thing is, that IS my natural skin tone.
And that's it for now. I might post some more pictures when the professional con photographer posts his photos.

MegaCon, here I come!
Wow, I can't believe it's here already! Later today, I'll be cosplaying at MegaCon. I only have one more class to get through today before I can enjoy my chock-full-o-anime weekend, and that's speech, which usually goes by pretty quickly.
Anyway, it turned out the school masquerade was last night instead of last Thursday, like I had originally thought until I looked more closely at one of the fliers and saw the actual date. My roommate and I went and mingled for a bit, got snacks, and about twenty minutes later, left. It was okay, but really, not many people dressed up, and they played terrible rap music (sorry if you like rap, but I cannot stand it, personally).
I finally got my Utena shoes! Yes, the 5.5 inch white patent leather boots are HERE!!! And they got here just in time for MegaCon. Pray that I won't fall and break my face while walking in them. XD
Well, that's pretty much all I have to say for now. I'll update when I get back from MegaCon (probably on Monday), and I'll also include lots of pictures so you too can experience the madness.
Take care and have a great weekend! And to everyone I'll be seeing at MegaCon, drive safely, and I'll see you soon!

Insomnia, depression, and something nifty I found on someone's Live Journal.
In the words of some insane philosopher, strange title leads to strange journal entry. XD First of all, I hope you all have a happy Valentine's Day! I know mine will be (despite the public displays of face sucking . . . -_-). I'm also very happy to say my cold has pretty much gone away. Thanks for your warm get-well wishes!
But unfortunately, on a somewhat angstier note, I've become confused and depressed; often to the point where it's hard to think clearly or pay attention. I've really grown soft in the last few months, like every little thing bothers and upsets me for no reason. I never used to be so . . . I don't know, sensitive and paranoid? And what's worse is that I can't seem to pinpoint the cause. I'm so overwhelmed, and to be honest, it really feels hopeless and like I'm letting everyone down. And it's really starting to take a toll on my physical health. Feelings suck.
But enough of the pity party. There can't be angsting with Megacon coming up! I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone and premiering my Akito, Harry, and Utena costumes. I finally ordered the shoes for my Utena costume . . . and they're 5.5 inch platform heels, which means I'll be over 6 feet tall in those babies. o_O I hope they get here by Thursday, because the school is having a masquerade . . . and that would give me an opportunity to practice walking since poor little tomboyish me has never known anything steeper than a 1.5-inch heel.
Before I go, can I ask you all a favor? I found something on one of my friends' Live Journals . . . and, well, it would mean a lot if you could take a look at it:
Better than the Jehova's Witness -- the Johari Window
Here's a slice of cake if you did that.
I'll get around to your sites as soon as possible. ^_~ Chances are I've already read your posts, but haven't commented . . . which I will do shortly.
Until next time, I bid you all adieu.
I can faintly remember when this journal didn't suck so much.

. . . And she woke up sick.
I can't breathe. This sucks. T_T For the past three days I had a bit of a sore throat, then yesterday, it went away for a bit. But now, NOW, I'm full-blown sick. Right after I thought, for a split second, I was going to be okay.
Oh, life's a wench sometimes. This is great.

Just some odds and ends.
Hey everyone, just thought I'd drop in and let you know how stuff has been. Since my short-term memory has been going to crap lately, I'm going to make myself remember something from each day every time I update. These things can be as trivial as what I ate for breakfast one morning, so I'm warning you in advance. o_o
Wednesday: Received an e-mail from an old friend back in Pensacola who I haven't talked to in nearly two years.
Thursday: While talking to A7S, we somehow got on the subject of Papa John's and how they have that awesome garlic sauce.
Friday: Ironically, my friend Heather found all of these coupons for Papa John's scattered all around the dorms, so instead of eating in the dining hall for dinner, we treated ourselves to pizza. Mmmmmm. I love that garlic sauce. XD
Today (Saturday): I studied for Science and Speech . . . which I really didn't want to do, but had to do anyway. I really can't wait for summer to roll around.
I don't know how long this recapping will last, so if it's boring you guys, just let me know.
Oh, and MegaCon is just three weeks away! I'm really looking forward to cosplaying and seeing friends I haven't seen in a while, like Diana and Tristin. I can't wait to see their costumes! And this will be my roommate's first convention, so I'm looking forward to cosplaying with her, too. It looks like February is going to be pretty sweet.
And I updated my site theme to something vaguely Valentines-ish since it's February and all. ^_^

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you . . . AN EPIPHANY!!!
It's strange what a cup of chicken noodle soup and oil paints can do for the soul (not that I ate the oil paints or anything). In other words, disregard that god-awful angst-post from a few days ago. I'm feeling way better now, and I just want to apologize to someone for being irrational and petty. I'm sorry. I took what you said completely out of context and took it the wrong way. I also want to thank everyone who came by and commented. I'm touched that so many of you care -- thank you guys. Anyway, I've learned to lighten up. And with the healing powers of chicken noodle soup, oil paints, AwesomeDude's prayers, and Dane Cook's comedic genius, I'm proud to say that I have overcome.
Huzzah. I angst no more.

And my list of grievances rears its ugly head. (Warning -- may contain offensive language)
Honestly. I hate how I've been so bipolar lately. I'm either wanting to frolic out of sheer happiness or shoot myself in the face because I feel so shitty and inadequate. Right now, I'm the latter.
I'm seriously doubting whether I should continue posting my fan art. Someone (glares at SOMEONE, yes, you know who you are) commented to me that coloring on the computer was cheating (and don't try to take it back. It's obviously what you really thought, otherwise, you wouldn't have blurted it out). Goddamn. As if my self-esteem wasn't low enough already! Now people have to tear down the one thing I'm half-way decent at. If that's what people honestly think, then fine. I won't continue to pollute TheOtaku with my cheap, computer-colored scribbles.
But at the same time, I'm happy. Like, really, REALLY happy! It's so weird. And I talked on the phone for four whole hours last night and had a GREAT time (and I'm usually not one for talking on the phone for extended lengths of time). And for the first time on Valentine's Day, I won't be the spinsterly single chick glaring evilly at all the happy couples sucking face and displaying gross amounts of PDA (Well, I'll proabably still glare at them, 'cause we all know how much those people suck. Get a freakin' room already!).
Soooooo . . . in conclusion, I'm ecstatic and depressed all in one neatly tied up little parcel. I know this has been an emo post, and I'm extremely sorry about that. Thanks for putting up with my ranting. I just needed to get that out before I exploded . . . or something. o_O I'll be normal again in approximately 25 minutes.

This post has no point. Read at your own discretion.
I think Sunday is synonymous for boring. I have no idea why I'm posting right now. I should probably be working on my "Chinese Workers in the Central Pacific Railroad" essay for History, but, yeah, I'm not. I did most of it this morning -- all I really need to do now is put in some quotes and type the bibliography.
In (slightly) more interesting news, my friends and I started our new D&D quest last night. We just went through our characters' backstories and whatnot. I create the angstiest backstories, as my friends say.
And I got a 100 on my first science quiz. Huzzah.
Okay, so . . . survey:

Hmph. | Take this survey | Find more surveys You've been totally Bzoink*d |
If you even SKIMMED through that, you're getting a cookie. That was the weirdest mish-mash of a post. In honor of this being such a slapdash post, I feel it fair to offer you a weekly question:
Q: What's your favorite class this semester (if you're still in school, that is)?

AMV!
Well, I did something I haven’t done in roughly two-and-a-half years -- I cracked open Windows Movie Maker and tried making an AMV. It’s far from perfect, and it gets a bit sticky in the middle, but all in all, I’m pretty happy with how it came out. And ever since I first heard that song by the Barenaked Ladies, I’ve been itching to make a Yuki music video, since the lyrics matched him so well and the overall peaceful rural sound reminded me of Fruits Basket from the get-go. I think one of the great things about Fruits Basket is that just about anyone can find a character they can relate to. Mine just happens to be Yuki . . . for the most part.
In the real world, I started school again. Woot ( . . . that’s sarcasm, folks). Those carefree days of waking up in my deluxe queen-sized bed and sewing to my heart’s content all day will be missed indeed. I’ve also been dealing with some personal issues, so that hasn’t been feeling too good either. But my friends here are keeping me in somewhat good spirits, at least. They don’t know anything’s bothering me, but just being around them helps. In conclusion, it could be loads worse.
And I promise, I will post that novel of a survey in my next post. You peeps will get the definitive survey about LD-san next time.
For right now, though, I have some horribly angsty cosplay pictures to show you. XD
Look what I did over winter break.
More Akito stuff . . . I’m running out of headers, here.
Harry
I do have more pictures, but I’m too lazy to post them right now . . . you can see the rest in my cosplay gallery here on Otaku if you want.
I’ll post one of my fancels next time, as well. Since some people have asked, a fancel consists of celluloid/acetate (or an office transparency, in my case ^^), ink, and acrylic paint. First, you sketch a rough draft of the character on regular paper, indicating where all the shadowing is. Then, you put the transparency over the sketch and trace over the original sketch lines with ink. Then, once the ink is dry, you gob on each layer of paint. This part is very time consuming, since sometimes you have to add multiple layers of paint (and wait for each layer to dry) so that the brush strokes don’t show through.
Well, that’s it this time. See you guys later.
