2005 in retrospect.
Mood: . . . Reflective.
Yeah, I know it's a bit late for a New Years post, but I just need to take a moment to reflect on how awesome 2005 really was. 2005, though a big year of change, what with going off to college and someone close to me moving very, very far away, was a very big breakthrough year.
One: I graduated from high school and made the transition to college. I was really dreading that at first, paranoid that I wouldn't fit in at all, and thinking I'd have to leave my comfort zone and "childish" ways (anime, manga, cosplay, etc...) behind. But, I was very pleasantly surprised when I found there were people who shared my interests and accepted me without question. God, that sounded so sappy and melodramatic. >_<
Two: I've really learned a lot about just loosening up and taking chances. True, I've still got a long way to go in that department, but it's a step in the right direction.
Three: Number two sort of leads into this one -- meeting all sorts of new friends (whether at college, anime conventions, or right here at Otaku). 2005, without a doubt, has been a blast, and it was all thanks to you guys (you know who you are ^_______^). You guys have really made my year something special.
Okay, so now that that's out of my system, I have a big long survey that I stole from atreyu7slip's site that I'm going to post . . . later, 'cause in a little bit I have to go to the hospital and get some stuff taken care of. Bleh.
Oh, and to answer Logan's question from my last post, a fancel is a fan-made animation cel. And, while I have been getting a lot of sewing and painting done over the holiday break, I actually haven't gotten around to drawing a whole lot of fanart. Though, I did upload something new a couple days ago. I'll probably post new cosplay pictures and whatnot sometime soon.
Okay! Well, I'll talk to you guys later.

Before you know it, it's 11pm and you're still painting fancels.
I think the title explains it . . . but just for the record, since I returned yesterday (yet again) from my step-grandparents' house, I've been either sewing, painting fancels, or taking nightly strolls with my mom.
And tomorrow morning, or . . . this morning, for you folks on eastern time . . . mum and I are going out to civilization (i.e. the big city of Pensacola), to eat bagels and stock up on supplies for sewing . . . and painting fancels. It's a vicious cycle. XD
Anyway . . . Christmas! Yes, I almost forgot to fill you in on my Christmas, didn't I? Christmas was okay this year. I had fun at my step-grandparents' (they live in Alabama), and even got some cool presents . . . but then I called my dad.
P-shaw. PUH-SHAW. That's all I have to say about that. I did get to see my step-aunt's new pet hedgehog, though! That thing makes me happy, so I guess that cancels out my 'daddy issues.' We ate turkey and ham, and then we watched movies and stuff. I finally got to see Mr. and Mrs. Smith, which Sakura02 enthusiastically recommended.
Well, I would write more, but I'm afraid I'm just running out of energy. I'll probably post a new AMV tomorrow sometime (later today, for you easterners ^_^). Well, I hope you all had a fun, safe, and merry Christmas (those of you who celebrate). See you next year!

I'M HOME!!!!
Mood: INSANELY HAPPY
I'm so happy to finally be home! I've been away for the last four months . . . I've missed this place. When my mom and I returned yesterday, we thought the place would be crawling in cobwebs, but surprisingly, it's spotless and just as we left it. I have nearly three weeks to goof around, sew, draw, and not worry about school work. And frankly, I AM ECSTATIC.
Now I'll tell you about the cruise! This ship was definitely the largest ship we'd ever been on -- I think it could accommodate 3,500 passengers or something like that. Anywho, that thing was huge. It even had an ice skating rink and a rock climbing wall. But enough of me simply describing it. You guys probably want pictures of the journey, huh?
There she be -- the Mariner of the Seas.
The ship displays Christmas spirit.
We went up to the highest mountain of St. Thomas . . . and there was a giftshop, of course, but they also had the best view of the island!
Another shot of St. Thomas. Look at those cloud formations!
One more of St. Thomas.
We also went to this island in the Bahamas called Coco Kay, and St. Maarten, which is half Dutch and French . . . I think we went to the Dutch side . . . but that's beside the point! We had the best time in St. Thomas, mainly because our taxi driver/tour guide was awesome and took us to all the highlights of the island. He even brought us to his home and gave us coconuts and bananas straight from his garden. And they were good, let me tell you. Way better than any fruit you get over here.
Well, I have to go now. Wigs to dye, cels to paint, etc. I hope you enjoyed the pictures! I'll probably post more next time.
But one more thing!
If you have any shred of humanity in your heart, you'll know this constitutes as cruelty to animals. This is truly disgusting and wrong, and people who do sick things like this anger me. The following was forwarded to me from Spades Ace and A7S:
www.bonsaikitten.com
This truly is cruelty to animals.. and you just shouldn't do this to a kitten. This site IS REAL, and WRONG! Support us and protest against this sin against kittens. (Domo-kun is gonna kill the creator of this horrific site.)
-Ace, Slippy, and LD
And this is all for now. Really. Happy holidays, folks!

I'll be back by December 20th!
I'm leaving for vacation tomorrow! Yay! That means I'm packing now, and I have to shove out of the dorms tomorrow morning. Then, on Sunday, my mom and I are going on a cruise with my sister and her husband. I'm looking forward to it, but I'm really looking forward to just getting back home. When I get back home, you can bet that I will go on a major sewing/drawing bender.
Anyway, since I won't have internet access on the cruise, I probably won't be on AIM or Otaku until I get back home on the . . . 19th or 20th. You guys have fun and take care!

Mood: Samurai-ish . . . ? Awesome!
Tristin (AKA Kyo, Hideki, Maes Hughes, Shinji, Ace, etc . . .) has joined TheOtaku! Go check out his site -- he's one of my best cosplay buds EVER!
And my Utena wig should come either today or tomorrow. Finally.

New AMV
So, how was everyone's Thanksgiving weekend? Good, I hope. Anyway, I'm just updating to announce the weekly (or . . . almost) AMV. A7S requested more hard stuff, so . . . hard stuff it is. XD So, today I give you an X AMV set to Nightwish's "I Wish I had an Angel." However, I highly suggest you follow the link and download the AMV for yourself. I had to condense the bejeesus out of this for it to fit on the site, and as a result, the quality is really lacking.
I just started seeing X not too long ago, and wow -- very awesome anime. So awesome, in fact, that my friends and I have decided that when the apocalypse hits, we'll cosplay from X and reenact the battle scenes at the Tokyo Tower. 'Cause we're just that dorky.

The angsty crap no one wants to hear about.
Mood: Angsty and nauseated
I've been angsting and sick-ing . . . like crazy for the past week and a half, and I have no reason to angst. I don't understand it at all.
But enough whining.
There shall be no hanging oneself from the ceiling fan just yet.
For there are . . . ANIME QUIZZES to be taken and AMVs to be watched! ^_^ Speaking of AMVs, you guys must have really liked the Naruto one I posted on Friday . . . the bandwidth is already used up! I'll probably post a new one next week after I get back from Thanksgiving break.
Anyway . . . quiz! Tell me what you guys get!
what's your cowboy bebop theme song?
Have a great Thanksgiving, whatever you're doing.

Not so much a subject as it is a way of life . . . or something like that. ^^
Mood: Determined!
Wow. My roommate is like the housewife I've never had. She left class early just so she could clean. You see, we're usually battling it out to clean. And she didn't stop at cleaning the bathroom -- no. She did everything! Dusting, vacuuming, spiffying up my desk, for crying out loud! Sakura02, I don't deserve you.
So now I'm threatening to get up at 4am next Saturday just so I can clean. Good Lord.
So, we're going to leave for my mom's in a few hours to work on cosplay. If all goes according to plan, I should emerge with a spankin' new Harry costume. ^____^
And here are some random Akito screencaps I took a few nights ago (all thanks to AwesomeDude's revelation of the print screen key):
Akito likes to brood in his big round window thing.
Akito broods . . . yet again.
Mysterious . . . and purple!
More mysterious purpleness.
The purpleness speaks to me . . . and tells me unspeakable things.
My friends think I'm crazy now . . . but who can blame them? Akito is a sick degenerate bad guy, after all.
Have an awesome weekend!
Oh! It's also my cousin's (and former partner in crime) birthday today! Yay, Richie! Here's to a sweet 16! It's a pity I don't see him much anymore, though, what with him being back in the dairy state and all.

Long Cosplay Post (you've been warned)
First of all, I hope everyone is doing well. Now that you're here, I'm going to rattle your ear off about future costumes I plan on making.
Costumes for 2006
-Definites
1. Lord Rosiel (Angel Sanctuary)
I haven't decided which costume of his I want to make yet, but I know I'm going to do it.
2. Schuldig (Weiss Kreuz)
Schuldig's white outfit
For those of you unfamiliar with this character, he's a redhead. If I don't get my hair cut, I'll probably just use my real hair. Yay, I have 'Schuldig hair.'
3. Akito Sohma (Fruits Basket)
His pinkish robe
Random eye candy shot. ^_^
-Maybe's
4. Sailor Neptune ( . . . Sailor Moon)
I love Sailor Neptune! And since I'll already have the Harry wig (which is similar) and a bunch of leftover white spandex from my Rei plugsuit, this will be a cheap costume to whip up.
5. Alucard (Hellsing)
I was just going to make his normal red cloak outfit, but then I started thinking about this outfit from the end of the series. I'm still not sure, though.
6. Melfina's Leyline bodysuit (Outlaw Star)
I really, really hope I can make this costume in the next year. It'll be a challenge, I'm sure. Darn you, a7s, and your kickin' Harry cosplay. ^^
So out of those, I'm not quite sure how many I'll actually get around to making. Just a tentative list as of now.
I so don't want to go to math class . . . but I know if I don't go, I'll be a guilt-ridden nervous wreck for the rest of the day/week/year, so . . . yeah. Ugh.
I posted a new drawing yesterday. Go take a peek in my gallery, if you want.
Not to sound like an attention whore or anything, but I just have to post some old cosplay pictures for the sake of it.
Complete opposites of womanhood.
Asuka: "I'M GONNA KICK YOUR ASS, WONDER GIRL!"
Rei: ". . . 'feh."
Yuki and Tohru share a sweet, sweet moment.
I miss my friend and partner in cosplay crime, Diana. :( I hope I can go to Anime South with you . . . which reminds me that I still need to e-mail you back.
Well, I'll see you guys later.

If you watch one AMV today, make it this one.
Mood: Amused
This AMV won 'Best Comedy' at Metrocon and AFO. Give it a whirl -- because Yami no Matsuei + flying cars = the shiz-nit.
Thanks for coming around and putting up with my angst-crap, by the way. I'm feeling mounds better . . . and I think I'll stay around a while yet.
So, what's up in the real world? My roomie and I are going to my mom's apartment later today so we can sew and stuff. I think I'll get the materials for Harry's vest-thing . . . yeah. I also ordered the wig a few days ago, so that should come in a week or so. I might post pictures after I get the wig dyed and styled and everything . . . so beware.
And that's it, I promise. Hope you all have an awesome weekend.
