Let the wind blow, baby!
TS Arlene is projected to hit between New Orleans and Panama City, so of course, I'm right smack-dab in the middle of the action ^_^. So far, it looks like it will just be a little tropical storm, so I'm not worried. I just hope we don't get another full-blown hurricane any time soon. I honestly don't think this area could handle another storm like that, especially after Ivan hit last September. Jeez, that was almost nine months ago and we're STILL cleaning up from all the damage >_<. 'Tis the price you pay for living in Florida, I suppose.
I'm gonna put a new AMV up soon, so fret not. I'll get around to it later.
Later this month I'll be going to Metrocon! W00t! I can't believe it's almost here -- seems like I've been waiting for this convention for forever. This reminds me that I still have to finish my Chii bakery costume. I also got my hair cut. It's really not much shorter than it was, yet it's a lot lighter since it's layered. I had to do something since all my hair was barely fitting under my wigs!
Oh, as for the question last week, my favorite couple is definitely Harry and Mel from Outlaw Star. I rarely ever get attached to relationships in anime, but I'm all for those two getting together (even though I think a snowball has a better chance in hell than those two do of ever getting together. *sigh* But I can dream, right?).

New Art
I finally got around to finishing the concept sketch for my main character, so it's up in my gallery now. I ended up naming her Catherine.
I also added a new quiz result to the bottom of the page.
Well, that's pretty much all I have to say. I have to go run some errands, but I'll be back later.
Take care, and please check out my new drawing.

New AMV
This is just a quick update to announce a new AMV.
Title: Say The Words
Anime Used: Outlaw Star
Song: Say The Words (Now) by DC Talk
While it's not the most technologically superb video out there, it still manages to be one of my favorite AMVs. This video focuses on the different romances in Outlaw Star (Gene & Melfina, Jim & Hanmyo, and finally Harry & Melfina) and delivers its point clearly and effectively.
My escapade in hair dying turned out okay. The dye only tinted my hair violet instead of completely saturating it dark purple like I intended. But it still looks good; just not as intense as I wanted it to be, though. My mom's happy about that ^^.
Question of the day: since this week's AMV is about romance, who are your favorite anime couples?

I'm alive, though barely
Sorry for the whiney 'woe is me' topic, but I haven't been feeling all that peachy these past three days. My stomach's been acting weirder than usual. I think it's due to chronic problems as opposed to a virus, though. But who knows. Nearly half of my class was sick with Norwalk Virus last week, so I could be coming down with that (nasty, *bleh*). I seriously haven't had a stomach virus in ten years (all thanks to my industrial-strength stomach acid which could corrode a diamond -_-).
Sorry, I'll stop whining already. Graduation went well. My dad, sister, and brother-in-law flew in from Wisconsin and stayed for the weekend. My dad drove us all nuts on numerous occasions, but that's my dad for you.
My speech went way better than I thought it would. I think your prayers and warm wishes came in to play there -- thanks! ^_^ Everyone had a great time, well, except for Dave (my sister's husband). He's Jewish, and well, my school is a very, VERY Christian private school. I felt so badly 'cause I think the ceremony weirded him out . . . a lot. But he stuck through it like a good sport.
It feels weird now that school's over. I've been occupying my time with writing fanfiction, and I think I'll start drawing again. Maybe I'll whip out my allmighty pencil and work on my main character concept sketch for my manga one of these days.
This is random, but I've decided to dye my hair purple. I was mulling over that or 'electric black,' which is a blue-tinted black. So, starting tomorrow, my naturally red hair will undergo the transformation to 'Chilled Plum.' The dye's only temporary, though, so if I don't like it, it'll wash out in 8-10 shampoos.
Talk to you guys later.

Yo . . . I'm not clever enough to think up a strikingly witty title . . .
Sorry it's been forever-and-a-day since I last updated. Graduation preparation has kept me pretty busy -- by Friday I will be a high school graduate. Heh, I feel like I'm getting married or something. ^^;; Everything's looking good now, though. The rehearsal graduation ran pretty smoothly. I finally finished my speech (I'm class Salutatorian, so I give the class dedication speech) so that's not hanging over my head anymore. I can't believe I actually made Salutatorian; I think someone miscalculated my GPA or something ^^;;. Anywho, now I just have to emerge from the horror of public speaking unscathed.
Well, being the total shameless ham that I am, I'm giving you a sneak peek of my Yuki cosplay. Note that this is not the actual costume. I just pulled on a random dress shirt from my closet and clowned around in the wig for fifteen minutes while my mom snapped pictures. The REAL costume is almost complete.
I fiddled around with the levels and color balance to give me that "Demented Jrocker" look. So yeah. Behold teh uber 133t w16!!!1111! (my sucky attempt at sucky computer English 'leet speak'). I blame society for driving me insane and back again.
Okay, I can safely say that's now out of my system (thank God). I'll get around to your sites as soon as possible.
Oh, and here's my answer to last week's question: I initially joined TheOtaku to feature my fanart. I didn't have any intentions on actually starting up a blog, but after a while, the concept grew on me. I enjoy talking to you all, and keeping this journal (and talking to you guys) has helped me grow and mature in a lot of ways. Okay, okay -- I'll stop there before you puke from all my saccharine babbling.
Anyway, enough about me already. Let's talk about you.
Q of the day: What do you have planned for summer vacation?
Later y'all.

Weezer and Fullmetal Alchemist
I posted a new AMV today. It's a Fullmetal Alchemist video set to "Say It Ain't So" by Weezer. Just as a disclaimer, I am NOT the creator of these AMV's; I'm just posting them because I think they're nifty and they give me something to look forward to every week. Most of you already knew this, but I've gotten a few PM's and comments from people either asking how I made these videos or congratulating me on a job well-done. Once again, I am not the creator -- I'm just a spectator who marvels at the skill AMV makers possess.
I did actually try my hand at making an AMV last year, but it's not something I'm especially proud of. My transitions were horribly off-beat, and the video quality was less-than-stellar since I just used some crappy online clips. But other than that one foray into the world of AMV making, I've just contented myself with being a spectator ^^. Maybe I'll try again someday. Who knows.
Anyway, Prince Yuki cosplay is coming along well. I'm in a bit of a stand-still since I'm waiting for the wig to arrive, though. I received the dye a few days ago; I'm hoping the wig won't take much longer.
Oh yeah, I almost forgot -- last time I said I'd tell you the story behind my screen name. Initially, I chose Living Doll as a reference to Rei Ayanami. I believe she says something in 'End of Evangelion' on the lines of, "I'm not your doll anymore," so my screen name sort of stemmed from that, as well as my liking of artificially created/clone/android 'doll-like' characters in general. I also liked the eerie yet childishly whimsical sound of the name, so it stuck. And that's it.
Question of the day: Why did you join MyOtaku? Was it so you could meet people, share your artwork, keep a journal, or something else?

Random junk, and a new cosplay in the making
Well, I hope everyone had a good week and weekend, and uh, week before that. I've been so preoccupied with finals and cosplay that I've been like a ghost around this site lately. I'm working on my third and final costume for Metrocon (anime convention in June), which is Yuki from Fruits Basket. Here's the outfit I'm making:
I'm really happy with how it's turning out. I'm almost finished with the coat and I ordered the wig and wig dye a few days ago, so I should be getting those within a week. Anyway, I'll move on; all this cosplay talk is probably boring you to death.
There's a new AMV up, as you can see. I know it's no longer 'Eva April,' but I just wanted to include one last Evangelion video. It's short, and it spotlights my dear Miss Ayanami, so I had to post it. Yet again, it's set to a Green Day song -- I've been listening to their stuff non-stop lately. Since the sound quality is so horrendous (due to my condensing for file requirements) here's the link to where you can download it in its resplendent greatness: Rei AMV
Q of the day: I know the stories behind some of these, but how did you all come up with your screen names?
I'll answer this question in my next post.

Hey, sorry for the delayed response! The recital went extremely well, much to my surprise. I didn't make any mistakes, so I'm happy. Thanks for stopping by and wishing me luck, you all.
And I'd like to extend a special thanks to AwesomeDude898 for being so supportive of my cosplaying -- thanks, Logan! Your comments on my costumes (especially my Rei plugsuit) have really cheered me up since I haven't exactly been feeling my best this week. By the way, he's having a weekly poll on his site, and he'd like to get as many reponses as possible. Go vote if you haven't already -- he's right on my friends list.
Anyway, I finally added this week's AMV. This will be the concluding video in Evangelion April -- the song is "Are We the Waiting" by Green Day. It's one of their more sentimental songs, but it really seems to match up with the 'troubled psyche' aspects of Eva.
Well, I'll talk to you guys later. I'm tired, so I think I'll probably just sack out on the sofa and watch some anime for a while. I just found out I can watch anime on Starz On Demand -- oh the wonders of digital cable ^_^. I've been watching Vandread; I like it so far (the animation is outstanding), but there's a bit of the corny 'Three's Company' boy-trapped-with-a-bunch-of-girls syndrome going on. Later.

Hey everyone, how's your week been? Everything's okay around here. Yesterday, I received an e-mail from Adam (founder of the site) asking me to be a beta tester for the new cosplay site Otaku will be hosting. I'm so happy they will have a cosplay section right here! I submitted all of my finished costumes thus far, and I'm liking the cosplay layout a lot.
Other than that, it's just been the same ol' thing around here. I went shopping for a recital dress yesterday, since I have a recital tomorrow. My instructor coaxed me into playing in the Senior Honors Recital, which is odd considering I've only been playing for a little over two years. I'm kind of nervous because I know everyone else will have been playing for like, ten years or so, and I'll just be the pathetic little beginner pianist in the bunch. Oh well, at least I get fifteen dollars and a plaque out of the deal.
Oh, the dress is really snazzy. It's a black cocktail dress with beading right below the bust. It's actually quite low-cut, and I've never really worn low-cut stuff before, but I wanted something different than the stuff I already have, with an air of sophistication. Maybe I'll post pictures -- if I'm having a good hair day, that is.
Well, I have to leave now -- piano lesson in a half-hour. Please wish me luck (or pray for me) with the recital. Thanks, guys!

More Costume Pics (Completed at last!)
I took pictures of my finished Rei plugsuit yesterday. That's right, it's now fully 100% finished. I'll post a few pictures, but you can see the rest of the pictures I took in my cosplay gallery, if you want to, that is.
Please try to ignore the junk in the fake fireplace ^^.
It's also time again for a new AMV of the week. Keeping in tune with Evangelion April, this video is set to Pink Floyd's "Comfortably Numb." What's weirder and possibly more abstract than Evangelion, you may ask? Evangelion coupled with Pink FLoyd XD. It's a long video (7 minutes total) so feel free to skip it if you're not interested.
Of course, if you'd like to see this AMV in all of its uncondensed splendor, (and if you're a member of Animemusicvideos.org) you can download it here.
