   the power of marketing
Well ... I've managed to get around to finishing a few more wallpapers I've been working on and have been pleased with my results, as I hope you all have. Out of boredom while being stuck home sick I decided to run a little experiment to satisfy my curiosity. The last 3 wall papers I completed were in order Lain (of course), one based on Iria (the background adapted from Midgard) and my litmus piece based on Inu Yasha. Now, in my oppinion everything I had posted to date has shown far more iminagination and skill than my final piece which was hurriedly thrown together but as suspected it is drawing far more atention, demonstrtaed by it's download numbers.
What could be the reason for this? Easy answer, Inu Yasha is far more popular a series ... but why? Lain is without a doubt superior in artwork and especially in story. Iria's storyline may be weak but it has superb artwork. This leads me to believe marketing hype has once again taken control of the public in general, Inu Yasha has become a staple anime series for North American "cartoon" networks ... it is pushed at us relentlessly and because of this it's popularity has grown. Based not on it's quality but rather based on it's percieved quality, a quality assumed to be there because the sheep of the world think that if everyone else is watching it, then it has to be good.

   A new talent !
Took my first try at colouring (no that isn't spelt wrong, here in Canada we haven't forgotten the letter U as they seem to have in the USA)a greyscale pic in photoshop, think I did all right but then I'm not exactly an unbiased observer. When the Otaku gods deem fit to ok my latest wallpaper submission maybe I'll get some feedback. Mind you so far my work has garnered very few oppinions .... just numerous downloads (which in itself is an oppinion expressed I suppose).

   Accepted ? If so why?
Well, a week later and I've been back a few times to have a look. As well as to upload 2 new wallpapers, mind you only one has appeared. Since only members can upload I wonder why a rejected wallpaper wouldn't result in a response as to why it was? Or do the moderators do this? I could find no faq explaining this and I mean .... was it rejected? was it a botched upload that was corupt? It would be nice to know what happened .... blah blah blah, rant done!

   Hard to believe !
Here it is just one day later and I'm already making my second post .... not typical of me at all.
I was bored so uploaded an older wallpaper I had finished some time ago (have no clue what the viking girl comes from ... if you know shout at me). I also managed to finish the other Lain wallpaper I had been working on, so guess what? Yup! I uploaded it too.

   first post .....
I'm not much of a "blogger" so I don't see me popping on here to often to vent about my troubles or brag about my conquests. I do enjoy chatting online though so if anyone wants feel free drop me an e-mail sometime.
I'm on a dial up conection so uploading can be a trying process for me but I am definately going to put up new wallpapers as I make them (I already have my first submited). In the meantime if you are curious I have about 9 posted on my site at geocities (ASGARD )
