Here are some poems that I worte for my poetry class.
The Divorce
By: Lonedog
If felt like a knife to my heart,
those words of torment.
My dad looked at me and there was regret.
In a quiet voice he spoke, “We’re getting a divorce.”
Plain and simple, his words stung my heart
as it fell like a rock off a cliff.
I lost my mind
but I didn’t lose it completely.
There time froze.
Shock held me in chains
as bitter sweet tears drizzled down my face.
His mouth moved soundlessly
and I felt cold and
alone.
What was to happen?
The clock ticked by and the guppies jumped
as silence tried to hold on to us.
Sadness filled me as I spilled tears.
All was lost.
I started singing bye, bye Miss American Pie,
was the song that played in my brothers’ empty room.
Only to be echoed by
Que sera, sera.
The whispering radio of reality hummed in heart.
Sweetie gathered herself
and followed the hall as it stretched on.
And on that path she would find her herself
only to be forgotten.
Feeling strong I walked through buildings
and flew in the sky.
Like a child in Christmas Day I was filled with grief.
(The one below is in the works.)
Ellouise
She walked in with grace, like a proud mother, her steps quiet and fluid
all except for a slight limp,
In that moment her smile shone like the sun and was as warm as a summers breeze,
Like lost lovers we held each other, exploding with happiness.
Her eyes glittered with joy as she dropped a kiss on my forehead,
taking me in she gave a smile and took her spot, between my cousins and the cake,
We knew her as
Elloiuse , gracious and loving like a eagle soaring in the sky,
She held me with her laughter, soft and cooing as though it was her last,
her eyes rimmed with diamond like tears from my dads cheesy jokes,
her voice rang like a bell when she looked and winked at me as though we had E.S.P.
Ellouise, soft and warm like a blanket was she, and
Her coal grey eyes cradled mine as she embraced me in her arms,
Her arms held me like a new mother to her newborn.
Overflowing with love she smiled
And sung like a lead vocalist her voice ringing out as she sung the infamous song, "Happy Birthday"
Her raven hair swayed gently like laundry in the wind as her body shook gently with laughter,
Her eyes sparkled with life, smile caressed me love as she walked over,
Ellouise hugged me close, her love like a warm fire on a cold day,
the flames on the candles danced, and wipsed away as I blew them out.
She, Ellouise cradled me with her coal grey eyes and said in a sing song voice,
"Happy Birthday shi Che'e(my daughter)."
In the ruffles of her dress, I whispered low. " I love you, Thank you."
Like a mother she held me tight not wanting to let go.
She pushed afar and said once again, "Happy Birthday daughter."
