   Hurricane Gordon

Althought the full brunt of the hurricane hit florda in the USA the tail end hit us.
the back winds of the hurricane rushed aross the seas and gained speed. it hit the north west of Ireland (thats where lmd lives) with winds rangeing from 70 to 100 mph yikes! it happened through the night, from around 8 pm-ish till 6am.
at 10pm it was so bad the cats ran for cover in the house, cookie was running across the fence when a strong gust caught her. poor cat was lifted from the fence, she landed in the flowerbeds not hurt thank god, but i had to go out and get her she was too scared to move.
At midnight i was sent to the 24 hour shop to get milk and cigerattes for me mum, there was no way in hell i was walking in that gale! so me dad drove me to the shop it wind shook the car, it was scarey, when we got there i had to run arcoss the street to get to the shop and it didn't help that i keep gettin blown down the road, strong wind. during the night the gale kept me awake, i sat in bed listenin to the tree in the back of nextdoor groaning, i swore the dam thing would fall, it didn't

power lines where downed, trees up rooted, wooden fence panels where lost all over.
in Armah a large oak tree was uprooted and went through a familes house (they all fine). Now al over ireland roads have been blocked with debrie and they still clearing it, my other nighbour forgot to take in her washing from the clothes line, well their gone now.

closer to home
i wasn't in one of the higher wind areas but still got some gales. one of our pot plants is missing, we found it caught in a downed tree down the road. theres a 8 foot palm tree in out back and we had to replant it cuz it was torn partialy from the ground and we forgot to wiegh down the lid of the recycle wheelie bin i spent this morning finding the big blue bin then returning stuff to it. Also a garden gnome is gone, but i not going to even try to find it, it was creepy anyway. apart from those we had no major damage to our house. the cats however won't come put from under my bed.

right now the phones where disconnected so the broken lines could be repaired so im going to check on me granda to make sure he ok and if he need help cleaning up.
