An overdue Thank You

Thanks to all people of awesomeness here on MyO for the supportive comments and birthday wishes. Gojyo looks a little "special" here, doesn't he? Ah well...At least Hakkai and Sanzo cooperated.

And have a great Valentine's Day! I don't have anyone special for this day. Anybody want to be my Valentine?

(many many thanks again!)

*insert sigh of relief*
I've finally submitted something...after months of sub-par artwork. I don't know if I'm completely back quite yet, but this is a start.

January is over, thank God. What a crappy month...Everybody I know had someone that died, I swear. Within a three week period of time. But that's all over now! It's February...month of..Valentine's Day =_=. Not my favorite holiday, but ah well.

Thank you so much to all who showed support and gave birthday wishes...I'm going to make a special picture for you guys once my creativity decides to kick in full-time again!

Take care, all...Have a great day! I'm off to IU to party con mis amigas (no drinking!...for me, anyway).

Well...
It's my birthday today...the big 2-0. It will be a very strange day indeed. I'm still a little emotionally exhausted after this past week. But I am happy to no longer be a teenager.

=======

The funeral, by the way, was beautiful. I was crying through most of it so I couldn't read the music and whatnot, but there were a lot of people and it was a nice service. My cousin Allison went up to read a few passages from the Bible but as soon as she got up there she started to cry. It was so strange seeing her cry...she's 9 years older than me, has always been sort of a big sister figure. Her three year old daughter, Brenna, was sitting in the front and said "Not so sad!" and it was one of the cutest and saddest things to hear. But Allison regained her composure and got through the verses, which were beautiful. After the funeral, Brenna walked around to everybody and shook their hand...which was adorable. Anyway, enough of that.

=======

No new art yet...I tried drawing last night and I'm still in the character design/doodle slump. Nothing really refined or substantial. It's been about a month now...my longest slump yet. But I think I've just been extremely distracted these past couple of weeks. I've been more inspired to paint, though...which is something I've never really done outside of a classroom. So I may try my hand at that and see what comes of it.

=======

Take care, everybody. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

-_-
I've been a bum. All throughout my winter break, I couldn't draw...I wasn't motivated to draw. I wasn't motivated to do much of anything. School started last week, and I believe I'll enjoy my classes. I'm taking 2D Animation and Sound Composition, which are going to be my favorites.

I'm sorry to return on a sour note...but I just need to get this out there. My grandmother passed away last night. We found out this morning and today has pretty much been hell. She was the only grandparent I ever really knew, and it was just a surprise. She'd been suffering from MS for many many years, and so it's good to know she can finally be comfortable. Doesn't make it any less hard, though...I loved her so much. She was just one of the coolest women I've ever known. I cried the first half of today..which resulted in a massive headache the rest of the day. Thankfully, I have the best friends anyone could wish for...everyone stopped in, gave me hugs, took me shopping, distracted me. I feel a lot better now..but I'm not looking forward to the funeral. It looks like it'll be on Friday....which is two days before my birthday.

So...we have my grandmother's funeral, my birthday, the one year anniversary of my dog's death the day after that, then my mother's birthday in another week.

Death, birth, death, birth...Within a span of two weeks.

Oy.

Perhaps all this emotion will manifest itself into some useful inspiration. I want to draw again, damn it.

Thanks for your time.

Whew.
First semester: done.

No more 15+ hour projects, no more worrying about labs and quizzes and getting to campus on time.

...at least until January 9th.

But I can live with that! I got new toys. One is an early Christmas present that I had to go get myself...but I don't care. It's the Adobe Creative Suite 2 package, which comes with Photoshop CS2, Illustrator CS2, InDesign CS2, Acrobat 7.0, and GoLive. I've been waiting so long to get Illustrator...I feel I do my best work with that program. If you check out my site, you can see some of the stuff I've done with it (I don't submit that kind of stuff here).

Speaking of my site, I found out I got a 98 on it, which makes me happy.

I also got MarioKart DS. Finally. I got the Nintendo DS when it first came out because MarioKart was scheduled to come out about a month later. And then they pushed it back. And they pushed it back. And they pushed it back. So now I finally have the freaking game, and I got it with a giftcard from my boss.

It just takes me back to the good old days of Nintendo 64. The only games I played constantly were MarioKart, Goldeneye, and Cruisin' USA. I love the kind of games where you don't have to sit and get completely involved. I can just turn any one of those games off and leave the house without trying to find a save point or finishing off a boss...or something. I don't know!

So I've gotten shopping and relaxing out of my system...next comes drawing.

Hope everybody survived finals (everybody that had them, anyway).

I'll see if I can get a nice Christmas themed picture up, since I missed Halloween AND Thanksgiving...

Cowboy Bebop-ness
So, another collab is up! These make me so happy...spacecowboytv did an awesome job coloring. I was so excited to see the finished product! Unfortunately, it seems like he's having difficulty uploading the image into his gallery (this is getting ridiculous). Keep trying, though...You deserve to have it in your gallery as much as I do!

The Bleach picture I colored for snowfox still didn't go through...I'll try again. -_-

I am so close to being finished with the semester...so close....so....close.... >_
I am in serious need of a day of doing nothing. Except for drawing.

Soon...soon.

ho hum
Something old,
Something new,
Something borrowed,
Something blue.

No, I'm not getting married...I've just had that little rhyme stuck in my head. I do have some things to share, though..

Something old== I submitted a piece that I did a while ago. I came across it the other day while browsing my art folder on my computer.

Something new== This is the website I had to create as a final project in my Web Development class. It's still rough, I'm still learning, but...I spent a lot of time on it (creating all of the graphics used). So check it out if you have the time. ^_^

Something borrowed== I decided to color another piece of snowfox's linework. But, of course, it didn't get through the approval process..even though I submitted it right after the other piece and I credited snowfox as the original creator. I tried again (I'm really getting tired of this happening), but in case that doesn't work, you can check it out offsite. The character is Ichigo from Bleach.

Something blue....okay, I don't have anything blue. Yet...

------

I'm still not quite finished with school..one more week of finals and whatnot. But after that, I will be done and I will be able to sit down and DRAW. Finally!

Till then...stay sane.

And how.
So, the first three days of my vacation were filled with shopping, eating, and movie-watching. Quite productive! Now the last two will be filled with storyboard-drawing and website-making. @_@ But enough of that!

Flueky was kind enough to take some time to color Spiral Queen, and it came out rather nicely! Go and check it out!

This is why I love seeing what other people do with the same piece of linework..I started coloring Spiral Queen as well, and I'm using a completely different color scheme! But both of the color schemes work. So thank you, Flueky, for adding your own style to the piece!

This is just a day for linking, isn't it? In that case, I have a few more to share.

I just ordered two new T-shirts from Threadless.com...which, if you've never been there, has some of the best shirts EVER. They're all designed by regular people, submitted, voted on, and if they're popular enough, they get printed. I haven't submitted anything yet, but I really enjoy some of the things they already have.

Like this little number, which I had to wait several months for them to reprint. I am now wearing it. And it is good.

And yesterday I broke down and ordered Calling Home, because it's just too darn cute (even if ET creeps me out). And finally, I ordered this one, because everybody needs a little emancipation, am I right?

So I'll get the last two sometime next week. Until then, I'll be wearing my "Mighty Midwest" shirt, and my flock-o-butterflies shirt.

Hope everybody had a great Thanksgiving! :D

-------------------------------------
What is this? A new piece of artwork from Lou? Jeepers.

I actually managed to squeeze one piece of linework out of the past two weeks that I find decent. Okay, I love how it came out. I'm a sucker for swirls, so this was completely self-indulgent.

There are at least four Saiyuki pictures coming up. Three of which are continuations of the "If" series, which started with Sanzo. I wanted to do pictures showing everybody's favorite Saiyuki quartet and what I think their romantic relationships might be like. Unfortunately, I ran into a block with Goku and Hakkai. Fortunately, ChaosButterfly offered up some awesome ideas for the two which I plan on doing. She'll be coloring those, so I'll call this a Collaborative Series. That will probably be coming up toward the end of November and into December, I hope.

Speaking of collaborations. Mr. spacecowboytv has got a piece of Cowboy Bebop linework he's got to color. ^_~ No pressure. By the way, congratulations! Welcome to the field of Graphic Design education...where fun projects and Photoshop abound.

All right, that's all the business for this site...I've got a digital video project to work on all weekend. Production starts at 11:00 am tomorrow. This will be interesting...

Have a great weekend, everyone.

A general lesson in the English language.
Because I feel it is my solemn duty to inform the masses, in order to prevent further massacre of grammar and spelling.

^_^

==========================

First off, grammar!

There
They're
Their

The dog is over there.
I believe they're coming soon.
I didn't lose their books!

Your
You're

Get your hand out of my face.
You're starting to get annoying!

The apostrophe exists for a reason! (you + are = you're, they + are = they're)

=========================

And now, spelling!

"u" does not equal "you"!

"ur" does not equal "your" or "you're"!!

"n" does not equal "and"!

"ppl" does not equal "people"!!

"cos" does not equal "because"!!

===================

Okay, I'm going to stop before I hurt my brain.

I'm not a bitch, I'm just a fan of the English language. Especially the English language when used properly.

I'll try not to trip when stepping off my soapbox.

^_^
