Frozen
I'm sitting in the computer lab on campus for my Web Development class..and it's freezing. Usually rooms filled with computers and people are supposed to be hot, but I guess the CSCI department has to be different.

I finished my first scarf yesterday, though, and it came out nicely! It's soft, grey, and cushy. I started another one today for my best friend. She's about 6'-6'1'', so I'm going to make it reeeeeally long. Because the longer the scarf, the better!

Speaking of my best friend, I'm going to have to rave one more time. She auditioned for a place called Beef & Boards, a restaurant/theatre here locally..I'm not sure if they have other locations outside Indy...but anyway! She absolutely blew me away. I knew she had a beautiful singing voice to start out with, but when I was sitting outside the audition room and hearing her through the door, I couldn't believe it was her! I hope she gets a part in the cast, just so I can hear her sing like that again! She has an account here, but doesn't update. So, Miss Laura, there you go. One more rave from me (because I can't shut up about it).

Now everybody go visit teh1337kw33n and give her some love. She deserves it!

Okay..I'm off to play with Cascading Stylesheets now. Have a wonderful rest of the day!

¬_¬
Sometimes this site can be a little frustrating...The lovely snow fox was kind enough to let me color her piece of linework, Divine Comedia...and I tried submitting it two days ago, and it hasn't gone through. I'm assuming somebody rejected it, even though I clearly referenced snow fox as the original creator. I just tried to post it again, so we'll see.

Random Rant

There are actually a few things about this site that bother me...and most of them have to do with the individualistic attitude of MyO.

If you add a popularity ranking, you're going to get people doing what they can to drag others down (which I've seen too often).

If you don't give people the option to reply to comments (and have those replies seen by the commentators), you lose one of the most important attributes of a community: effective communication. Private messaging doesn't cut it, I'm sorry.

If you force artwork to go through screening before submission, you're making it more difficult and time-consuming to share art and collaborate with others. Art trades are a great way to get people with different talents to come together in a community, but with the current system, you risk your piece being rejected just because the entire piece doesn't belong to you.

In other words...

I think the popularity ranking and the rating of artwork should be taken away...it only promotes selfish behavior in those too immature to care about the success of others.

I think we should have a way of knowing when somebody adds us as a friend or comments on our work, as well as a way to reply to them...that way we can thank them or visit their site and add them as a friend too.

I think the screening process should be taken away, or loosened. Instead, the moderators should focus their energy on actually responding to the community's concerns. If somebody reports stolen artwork, the moderators can investigate quicker. Also, it will give people a chance to share their work more easily.

End Rant

Not everything about this site is negative, though...I've met a handful of awesome people, and I always enjoy seeing updates from them. People like ChaosButterfly, snow fox, AceGallagher, spacecowboytv, and Summoner Rekka. What makes an awesome MyO friend? Great attitudes. And maturity...Maturity helps. Thanks for being awesome!

I really didn't mean for this post to get so involved. Thanks for your patience, if you actually read it all ^_^;. Have a great rest of the week!

Lou is being domestic!
I have learned how to knit, finally, after months of watching other people make adorable scarfs! I have about six inches of my own gray scarf of cuteness finished, and I'm about to go out and enjoy some nice free ice cream with my best friend at Cold Stone Creamery.

Life is good.

ps: I'm glad to hear (most of) you are all doing well! Any suggestions on what my next picture should be of? I'm running out of steam...>_<

Gasp!
An update?! Finally got a decent picture done...and I'm quite happy with it. ^_^ Characters from an rp I have with my friend..and if some of them look familiar, it's probably because they're children of some...existing characters. But I don't feel like going too deeply into the plot.

I swear this comic project is going to get done. I just haven't had any time to sit down with Laura to work out more of the plot. The three character designs are up, and have been for a few weeks...so there you go. ¬_¬

In other awesome news, a coworker of mine wrote a story for a women's retreat she'd gone to a couple weeks ago...and shared it with the office during devotions (since we're technically a religious organization, we can have devotions..) Anyway, while she was reading this story, I was getting so many vivid images in my mind to go along with it...and I asked her if she had thought about having somebody illustrate it. She said she was seriously planning on publishing it and would love illustrations to go along with it...so she gave me a copy of the story and I started on the first picture, just poking around in Photoshop. And so far, it's coming out beautifully...

So who knows? Maybe someday within the next few years, I'll have illustrated a published children's book...^__^ This is the kind of thing I would love to do for a living, but there's no way I'd be able to make enough money for it. So I'll stick to animation and storyboarding.

Take care, everyone. Try not to let work and school drive you too crazy. ^_~

@_@
To say that the past two weeks have been busy would be an understatement. But I finally got a chance to just sit around all weekend and draw. So I have at least three sets of linework to color with Photoshop.

Have you ever had one of those days where everything seems to go wrong? Last Tuesday was my day...and I'm going to talk about this for the last time and just move on. This was my Tuesday.

-I woke up early to start working on a major assignment for my Storyboarding class...When I got about halfway done, I realized that three of the shots I had storyboarded didn't use the right camera movement representation. So I had to draw three 7x3'' pictures again.

-I got an email from my Speech teacher denying me an extension for my speech, even after I told her that I had at least five other projects for my New Media courses to finish.

-I left early to get to an advising appointment on campus, and ended up getting stuck in construction traffic for over a half hour. I tried calling the office, but nobody answered.

-I got to campus about ten minutes after my meeting was scheduled, and since the building only has one elevator, I had to run up five flights of stairs.

-I get to the top of the stairs and find out my advisor's previous appointment is running late...so I didn't really need to run up all those stairs.

-In my appointment, I find out the one class I wanted to take more than any next semester isn't offered in the spring. So I have to wait until next fall to take Sequential Narrative.

-I get to my Web Development class and we get our midterm tests back...And it turns out I completely missed the back page of the test--didn't see it--and I ended up getting a C on the test.

-By the time class ended at 8:30pm, I was hungry and grumpy and I just wanted to go home and have dinner. I call home to see what my mom had made, and it turns out she had gone out to eat and there was no food at home. So I had to buy myself dinner.

And that was my terrible, horrible, no-good, very-bad day. All those things seem so stupid now, and it's actually pretty comical..but at the time I was so frazzled. Which, if you know me, is pretty rare.

Ah, closure!

New pictures coming soon, I promise. ^_^

One down...
All right. The first character I'll introduce from the comic is Aurora.

Her birthname was Jane, but she hates it. So whenever she meets people, she insists they call her "Aurora Borealis", or just Aurora. Because it sounds cool. She wears an impossibly long skirt just because she likes it. And she doesn't particularly enjoy hard work. Aurora isn't really the class clown, but she does find a way to lighten things up when lectures begin to get...boring.

Aurora was born as a reincarnation of a particularly powerful holy being, and as such is considered a prodigy of sorts. Despite her enormous talent, Aurora finds it hard to be passionate about her lot in life. After years of resistance, she's finally resigned herself to her Fate and is attending classes begrudgingly.

She'll do what she has to, but she won't always play by the rules.

Two more characters coming soon! ^_^

o_o
I feel so sorry for this kid. If my parents did that to me, I'd...Geez, I don't even know what I'd do.

Anyway...My friend and I are going to start up a comic. So far, I think it's really interesting. We have three main characters...but I don't have a finished character sketch for any of them. The basic premise is (and this may be subject to some minor changes)...There are people who are born reincarnates of holy beings, for the specific purpose of fighting off demons. These people attend a school to hone their abilities and learn lessons critical to surviving in their line of work. Enter three roommates...Kailen, Aurora, and Marisol. Three different personalities..but they'll all form a strong bond throughout their years in school and beyond, when sent on missions.

Character pages will come soon, as well as more detailed character descriptions. ^_^ I'm excited about this.

Gasp!
Happiness indeed. The lovely ChaosButterfly was kind enough to color a few of my pieces, and everybody needs to go check them out now. I offered my "If" piece up for anyone to color, and here's her intperpretation...very neat! This is why I love collabs...a whole different perspective on the same drawing. But wait! There's more! She also colored my "Caged Animal" piece, and it came out wonderfully! Can we say hot? Whew...just look at those skintones!

I must draw more Saiyuki now..@_@

Thank you again!

Quote time!
I figured I would post some of my favorite quotes from the Saiyuki manga. Because they're funny. ^_^

Gojyo

(to Sanzo) "So that's it, huh? Fine! Please forgive this unworthy soul! And do enlighten your foolish underling, Lord, as to what in the blue fuck is going on! Is that okay, Sanzo? Can you divulge, mighty Lord?!"

"Shit on a goddamn cracker!"

"Shit on a goddamn stick!"

(he's so creative, isn't he? ^_^)

"If by cool you mean ass-sucking..."

-----
Goku

"You rock! No matter how hungry I get, I'll never eat you!"

"Crap, now everybody's winnin'!"

"She came all th' way here to eat a Sanzo? Sanzos must taste awesome!!!"

------
Hakkai

"It would appear your estimation of me was royally screwed up ^_^."

"Ha ha ha! Feel free to shoot Gojyo as much as you like when we find him."

"Please sit back, as I'm planning to accelerate. -heart-"

(to Gojyo and Goku) "You two are just clumps of carnality, aren't you? ^_^"

------
Sanzo

"Talking to you now might spread your stupidity."

"Sowing seeds is a choice you make for yourself. But do not sow the ones that become a pain in MY ass, dimwit."

--------
Group

Gojyo: I didn't help you 'cause I wanted to.

Sanzo: Yeah? Then why?

Gojyo: I like pickin' things up when they fall.

Sanzo: How hobo of you.

(best Sanzo quote EVER)
---

Hakkai: We're currently underground, correct?

Gojyo: Guess so.

Hakkai: And how did we escape the dungeon earlier?

Gojyo: We smashed the wall up good.

Hakkai: And if a wall carrying the load of an underground lair is broken, what does physics dictate?

Goku: Wha?

Gojyo: Uh...The roof'll break under the weight of the sand on top?

[CRACK]

----

Hakkai: You know what they say: "If you're going to eat poison, might as well eat the plate."

Sanzo: ...bah.

Goku: But plates don't taste good.

----------------------------------

Okay, I'm done. ^_^
