Oy.
This has been quite a week. I'm not going to go into everything, but I can't remember the last time I had so many things (good and bad) happening on so many consecutive days. Sigh. I'm glad it's Friday. I bought the Celtic Woman cd from Borders on my way home from campus. Beautiful, beautiful music...I crashed as soon as I got home and napped for three hours.

I'm helping my best friend move into her first apartment tomorrow. It's crazy to think that none of my friends live at home. They're either in college dorms or their own apartments. Alas...I'll have to wait a few more years before I take that step. Money is sort of a necessity..

Last but certainly not least, I finished the Gandalf picture I was doing for my dad. It came out better than I could have expected...and I hope it gives him the strength I tried to put into it.

If that makes any sense...

Hell hath frozen over!
I did Inuyasha fanart. Now I'll be done with it and move on to something less...Inuyasha. >_<

In other news, I got a new job. I've technically worked two days already, but I have to say that I love it. I'm a receptionist at the Indiana-Kentucky Synod office (it's basically like the Lutheran church headquarters for the two states)...I get to do mindless repetitive tasks and answer phones and things like that. Which, oddly enough, I thoroughly enjoy. It's very therapeutic...and it makes the day go by so quickly. Seven hours felt like two. Plus the pay is great, and the people are really really nice. So yay for new jobs and subsequent funds! :D

I'm working on a picture of Gandalf for my dad's birthday (which was the 13th). I saved this picture from my day-to-day LOTR calander with full color screenshots from all three movies. It's a capture from LOTR:TT when Gandalf and the Rohirrim show up to save the day at the battle for Helm's Deep. So regal and powerful...It reminds me of my dad.

Sticks and stones, Kate Monster.
I am dubbing this my random post, because everybody needs to get a little randomness out of their system every once in a while.

My favorite...

word: Phantasmagoria (followed closely by inebriation...but only because it's really fun to say)

color combination: Lime green and cobalt blue.

store: Barnes & Noble

hair color: So far, I have enjoyed being a redhead the most. (other colors I've had: blonde, dark brown, medium brown, copper-brown, purple-red, deep red, my normal mousy brown, and light highlights) I can honestly say, after four years of research, that blondes don't have more fun. Redheads do. :P

fictional character: Fry from Futurama

My least favorite...

word: Flesh. It just sounds so...gross! >_<

color combination: Rust orange and chartreuse.

store: Any golf store. I've been dragged to too many of those by my mom and brother.

hair color: My own. It's pretty dull...

fictional character: Jagen (is that his name?)..that little toad thing that follows Sesshomaru around. I have Adult Swim on in the background while I'm at the computer, and whenever InuYasha comes on and that character shows up...--twitch--...All he ever says is "Lord Sesshomaru! Lord Sesshomaru!" in a nasily voice. Thank God he doesn't show up very often.

---------

I love reading the dictionary.

I can't stand bad grammar.

I'm an incredibly paranoid passenger when anybody other than myself or my mother is driving.

I don't like gum...or hot dogs...or regular Coke...or baseball.

So apparently I'm not very American.

But I do love Kraft maccaroni and cheese!

And Super Target.

Okay, I'm done.

Disclaimer
So I came across a fanfiction for InuYasha called Fugue...Which is actually Kagome/Sesshomaru. Before you go "ick!", let me just say that it is possibly one of the best fanfictions I have ever read. The characters are written perfectly, the description is beautiful, and the story arcs nicely.

The basic concept is, ten years after the show ends, Kagome finds herself stuck in the past, so to speak. She goes about her normal life, but seems to be split in two. Then she comes across Sesshomaru in a cave, all sealed up and sleeping for centuries. She unwittingly releases the seal and wakes him up, and since he's the only demon left and she's the only person he knows, he ends up staying with her. Their relationship develops over the next several months, and Kagome is obviously torn between memories and real life.

Beautiful, beautiful writing. I had to do fanart for it...and I submitted it. I hope it gets posted...It's from a scene where Kagome insists they go out, but in order for that to happen she has to cover up Sesshomaru's markings. That's all I'll say about it...The story is for more mature audiences.

Anyway, that's the only InuYasha related anything that I've absolutely loved...so if you see my fanart, please don't be totally put off because it isn't InuYasha and Kagome.. >_<

That's my disclaimer.

I'm not dead yet!
These past few weeks have been kind of hectic, what with the addition of school...I have lineart that I started, but I haven't been finishing many pictures. The two that I added today are the first that I've done in about two weeks..^_^;

So...I hit 200 pageviews today. And I've officially been here for three months! So huzzah for everything and such!

Loverly
Added a new wallpaper...featuring MARS again. I scanned in the covers of some of the manga and arranged the pictures. I just had to show off Fuyumi Soryo's gorgeous style...it lends itself so well to wallpapers! And Rei is just incredibly gorgeous (especially in the middle picture! >_<) Anyway...

Here's a random list of the CDs I could listen to on repeat and never get sick of:

Frou Frou--Details
Jason Mraz--Mr. A-Z
l'arc~en~ciel--SMILE
Wicked: Original Broadway Cast
Libera Boys Choir--Luminosa
Cake--Comfort Eagle, Fashion Nugget, and Pressure Chief
Simon and Garfunkel--Greatest Hits
Switchfoot--The Beautiful Letdown
The Mamas and the Papas: Greatest Hits

I have an ecclectic taste, ne?

Told you so.
There's just something about a new sketchbook that unplugs the creative juices and brings forth a plethora of possibilities! Who knew that a pad of blank paper could make a person so happy??

I started on my latest piece, Aidacosa, as soon as I got home from sketchbook shopping. I was thinking about the picture the entire way home, and it came out exactly how I wanted!

I think that's the kind of joy only a new sketchbook can bring.

Color me happy. ^_^

bleachFrouFroubleach
I've finally started reading Bleach, after seeing an increase in fanart and rave reviews for the series. Luckily, my friends and I all have a nice arrangement...I bought all of the MARS manga, I'm getting all of the Saiyuki manga, as well as Descendants of Darkness and Alichino (which is Gorgeous)...while my friend Laura is getting Fruits Basket, Naruto, and Bleach. So we trade off and share and nobody spends more money than they have to.

But anyway..! Bleach is so incredibly good. I'm impressed that most of the series that have become widely popular actually deserve the hype, unlike series such as Inu Yasha or Yu Gi Oh or stuff like that. Fullmetal Alchemist, Naruto, and Bleach all have awesome plots, tons of great characters, and just the right blend of humor and drama. So if you haven't read Bleach, you should. Because I can honestly say there is not one character in that story that I dislike (even if they're evil, they're all well-written).

I'm going to have to wait until I get a new sketchbook to do any fanart, though, because I just can't stand to draw in the last few pages of my current one...! >_<

Ah! I made my first wallpaper yesterday, from a scan I made of a page in MARS. It's one of my favorite moments in the whole series, and it's at the end..so I won't describe anymore if you haven't read it. Anyway, the lyrics I stuck in it are from a group called Frou Frou, who have the coolest style and most addictive music I've heard. The song is called "It's Good to Be in Love", and it's so incredibly bittersweet, but so pretty...

So if you haven't heard any of Frou Frou's stuff (they have songs on both the Shrek 2 and Garden State soundtracks), then go check them out. They're worth it.

I'm off to my second day of classes!

-insert sound of head hitting desk here-
Nothing I've been drawing lately has looked right to me. It's the worst kind of slump...I have ideas for pictures, but every time I try to draw them, they never look quite right.

I think I need to get a new sketchbook. A hundred pages of blank paper tend to cheer me up...and I'm running out of room in my current book.

I have a bad habit of leaving the last several pages in sketchbooks empty...sigh.

This had better pass soon.

Pierogies.
My manager is a complete idiot. I give away samples at grocery stores, at least I would if she could remember to call me or send me the paperwork or actually make sure the product is in the store. This lady called me up an hour before I had to leave for my demo and told me it was cancelled. AGH! I need the money now, more than ever, and she keeps messing up and I keep not getting work! It's incredibly frustrating.

I just need to find a new job. -_-

In other news, I did some Paranoia Agent fanart...so there you go, snowfox! I had fun with it...Also, I've submitted the first of a series of pictures (at least I hope it'll become a series). So enjoy, once they're up...

Does anybody know how many pictures you need to submit before you become a "Senior Artist"? Just curious..
