Flighty much?
I've changed my user picture yet again..I think I'm going to stick with this one, because it's made with one of my favorite pieces, Le Sigh. And I like this current grey/purple/green scheme, so I didn't want anything clashing with it. So there. It's staying!
In other (more happy) news, I found three of the five books I need to get on Half.com, and they're all at least 30% off! The $90 book is 50% off!! That makes me very happy. I'm going to check Half Price Books, though, because last semester I got one of my textbooks there for only $10. So here's hoping..!
I managed to get some Fullmetal Alchemist fanart done that I'm actually happy with...I've never tried drawing a mechanical arm before..@_@ I love it when Ed has his hair down.. I feel terrible for finding Ed attractive, because he's only 15 years old. >_<
I think it's incredibly weird to look back on when I first became obsessed with anime...around 8th grade. So back then, all of the characters I liked were older than I was. Then it got to the point where they were the same age, and I thought that was really cool...and here I am, three years older than the average protagonist and feeling weird for liking these young heroes.
How ironic! ^_^()

Departures
This past week has been a little crazy...All of my friends are getting ready to pack up and return to their respective colleges, while I'm still here. I live at home and commute to campus. But anyway, I've been running around and doing stuff with everyone before they go, because once school starts everybody's going to be very busy. I hope everyone has a good year.
I just looked up my textbooks online today...and I'm going to have to pay about $300 tops...@_@ You can bet I'll be surfing Half.com and Amazon for lower prices...$90 for one book? Agh! I'm going to wait until I've been in my class, because sometimes professors don't even use the books they say are "required". So we'll see...
Anyway, I'm starting to shift back into school mode, so most of the art I produce will be...not anime. I'll do my best to maintain a balance, but I have to focus on creating more design-centered work than fanart. I can already feel my anime urges dwindling.. >_< Let's hope it doesn't last, because I like drawing fluffy anime stuffs. :D

Couldn't help myself...
After someone pointed out the lack of Legato-ness in my Trigun Summer Fun picture, I had to do a follow-up. And Knives slipped in there too...looking very possessive of his precious beach ball. Did you ever think you would see Legato in lavender or Knives in pink? I didn't...but it's happened.
My dad and I were watching Adult Swim the other night, and making fun of Inu Yasha. Sorry if you're a rabid fan of the series...but it's just too easy! Bankotsu's arm turns to bones...Miroku says "His arm turned to bones!" Bankotsu disappears...Inu Yasha says "He's gone!" Haha...Okay, so I guess that happens a lot in most anime, but come on. Captain Obvious strikes again. Also, my dad made a keen observation...Inu Yasha has a mullet. (I found it hysterical, but it may have been because I was a bit insane that night..)
I'm going to have to draw that now...Cheesy 80s Inu Yasha. Miroku has a rat tail too...Ah, this could be fun!

Take the plunge!
I've decided, after much deliberation, to participate in Dark Pheonix's Summer Fun contest...my first online art contest. I had fun making the picture, so it'll be interesting to see what everyone else submits.
In other news, my dad's been visiting for the past three days and it's been interesting. He hasn't been here in about five years. We're so much alike it's scary sometimes, so I always enjoy spending time with him (when he isn't talking about work). I have to take him to the airport tomorrow morning, though.
Ah well...I'm ready for school to start and an actual routine to kick in. I get to take scriptwriting, storyboarding, and digital video this semester! It's going to be fun.

Huzzah!
Yay! Both pictures are now up, finally. I can go on with my life.. :D Go on and create more fanart! I think some Naruto fanart is in order..and..possibly (dare I say it?) Inu Yasha.
To be completely honest, I don't really like Inu Yasha as a show...every episode seems to have Kagome getting captured by some demon with a jewel shard and Inu Yasha has to save her with that "Wind Scar" attack. Meh...But I will admit the show does have some cool character designs. Like Sesshomaru. I might have to draw him because he's pretty damn cool. We'll see if he cooperates...

>_
For some reason, my crossover picture isn't going through...The same thing happened with some fanart that I did for ChasButterfly's fanfiction. And I don't understand why. I just sent an email to whoever runs the site, asking what the deal was...and offering to provide original sketches if they believe the work isn't mine. Le sigh...I'll just stick them here until they're submitted.
"Cat Magnets"
"In Which Gum is Applied"
If you haven't read ChaosButterfly's "When Chibis Attack" series, you should. Because it's hilarious.
Ah, one more thing..I just got over a hundred views today. Yay! ^_^; I have about 7,461 views on my deviantART site, but I've been there for over a year. So I hope to keep up with this site. I haven't been scared away yet!

Eh?
For some reason, I can't change my user picture...I've tried uploading a new picture several times and it isn't working. >_> Yar.
In other news, I did my first Crossover pic today...with Kyo (Fruits Basket) and Al (Fullmetal Alchemist) surrounded by cats. Because it seems to happen a lot in both manga...and it's cute. I tried doing Al as the suit of armor, but I didn't have the patience today...so I drew an older, human version of him, as seen in the upcoming movie. ^_^ He's so cute! Enjoy!

Random gushing.
Finally got my hands on the first volume of Saiyuki Reload. I'm so happy their outfits have changed. Hakkai looks much better with the longer shirt, untucked. It's much more relaxed..very him. And Gojyo. Thank GOD he doesn't he doesn't have those weird pants anymore. They bothered me...He looks better with regular pants and a nice jacket. Sanzo and Goku weren't changed much, which is fine.
Right now it's hard to tell which is my favorite manga series...Mars or Saiyuki. They're incredibly different, but I've read through both of them several times and I don't get tired of them.
I prefer the style in Mars, because it's so simplistic...There isn't a lot to distract, but there's enough to convey a lot of feeling. I'm always impressed with Fuyumi Soryo's ability to draw such dead-on expressions. You almost don't have to read the dialogue. The characters are really well-developed too. It isn't one of those shoujo manga where the guy and girl are thrown together because of circumstance for the purpose of pretty pictures and sappy self-indulgence. Rei and Kira's relationship really develops throughout the story, and they have rough spots, and nothing is perfect. The characters and their chemistry are really believable.
And Saiyuki...Well, it just plain kicks ass. The art fits the story perfectly (though at times some of the proportions bother me..the necks look too skinny >_< but anyway!). Each of the characters represents different personalities, which has been done before...but it doesn't take away from the story. There's the angry violent guy, the "annoying" kid, the flirtatious rebel, and the calm nanny type. Something for everyone! Not to mention they're all very pretty in their own way...though I find it hard to be attracted to Goku, just because he seems so young, despite being over five hundred years old lol. I love the humor in Saiyuki. All the characters play off of each other so well. Especially Gojyo and Sanzo..those two cracked me up in volume 7. I can't wait until the next volume..! >_<
I refuse to watch the anime anymore...because it sucks so much compared to the manga. They tried to fit all the elements of the manga into the animation, including some extra images seen throughout the manga to divide chapters. And what's with the youkai dissolving whenever they're killed? Oy. >_< If anybody is ever considering looking into Saiyuki, read the manga first!
Okay, I'm done!

Overdose
I spent the last two days watching Fruits Basket...
In hindsight, I don't know if that was such a good idea. That's a whole bunch of cuteness to absorb in two sittings. Ah well...it isn't disgustingly cute, so I can take it. Some of the characters' stories are so sad (like Momiji's..;_; ) but the series deals with them in such a light-hearted way. I love Kyo, as a character. He's my favorite...because he has so many obvious faults..but his awkwardness and his kindness shows through so well. It isn't your usual tough-guy-trying-to-hide-his-true-feelings. I'm babbling..
But anyway, this has inspired fanart. And fanart..will probably lead to more fanart...so look out!

Woo and Hoo
I got back from Colorado around five in the morning yesterday...after driving for about twenty hours. @_@ Wow. I slept for eight hours as soon as I got home, managed to remain conscious until at least 10:00 at night, then crashed for another eleven hours.
All in all, the trip was wonderful. We ran out of gas in the middle of Iowa..that was fun. We had to wait about an hour and a half for the AAA guy to come with gas. So we stargazed, which was amazing because in the middle of Iowa there are no city lights to blot the stars out. We saw at least five shooting stars in the fifteen minutes we stared at the sky. Then we realized we had a portable DVD player and decided to watch Down With Love until the guy came.
Here are the sights and sounds from Boulder, Colorado...during an art fair that was going on. I loved this town! So artsy and interesting!
A magician (sort of) making a balloon animal for a happy child. This was actually the first time that kid actually smiled..he scowled most of the time. o_O
A really funny street performer on a really high unicicle. He juggled fire. Oooohh.
And the highlight of my first day in Boulder...This hippy who rode his bike around, giving everyone the peace sign. He had three little carts trailing behind him..all colorful. I didn't realize my camera was set to black and white, though...Ah well, you get the idea!
So that's all I'll say here...Hopefully I'll have some new art to post soon. I think I may be starting to get into a rut...We'll see!
