Journey to the West!
(yes, blatant Saiyuki reference)It makes me happy to say that..."Journey to the West". Because that's what I'm doing today! Two friends and I will be braving the elements and any unforeseen enemies in our comfy Saturn VUE armed with an iPod mini and a portable DVD player. For seventeen hours. Talk about epic adventures :P. I have to say, that if I were in the role of any one of the Saiyuki boys, it would be Hakkai. Though, thankfully, I won't be driving the whole time >_<. The other two girls...well..I would have to say one is a bit like Goku, and the other a bit like Gojyo.
(I'm not obsessed with the series, really.. >_> )
I will return in six days if all goes according to plan. Wish me luck. *salute*

Let's try new things!
Since I don't usually draw anime-style work, and sometimes I lack inspiration to do so...I think I'll open the floor up for requests and (possible) art trades. I don't know how well the art trade thing will work, but..if somebody wants to color a linework piece of mine, or have me color something of theirs (black/white linework..preferrably ink ^_^; ) I'd be all up for that.
And I'm always up for suggestions on what to draw...So let me know!

Bewitched, bothered, and bewildered
I just saw Bewitched...It was cute.
I actually want to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory...It doesn't look nearly as creepy as the original (which scared me when I was little).
Why can't Rent come out sooner?? I can't wait to see the big screen version! I love the music already..

Stellar maturity.
I don't have a lot invested in this site, but come on people. Somebody just basically went through my gallery and gave me low ratings for the hell of it. I know for a fact that my stuff is better than 90% of the work on this site, and if these people don't leave constructive criticism (which I have no problem with) they're just being bitter and immature. I worked hard on each one of my pictures, and if you're going to rate it low, then tell me why. I'll improve.
I really don't believe an art site with a popularity ranking is fair. Because this is what happens when you add a rating system. People just try to sabatoge you out of spite, and seeing as the average maturity level of the members of this site is about twelve, I'm guessing that happens pretty often.
I'm sorry, I'm really not a bitch...It just makes me angry when art is cheapened by a popularity contest. People here don't bother to give real critiques. I'll rely on deviantART for that. This is just the site I put my anime work on, and I guess I'll keep it that way.
I don't care what my ranking is or who doesn't like my work. I know that I'm talented and I have integrity. I don't trace or copy pictures. I have imagination.
And I have respect for those who are trying to improve themselves rather than drag others down to their level.

Crazy lady with a shovel!
Howl's Moving Castle is officially one of my favorite anime movies of all time. Actually, it just may be my favorite. Beautiful artwork, as per usual..seeing as it's Miyazaki...beautiful music...wonderful characters and so much magic! Miyazaki's films always whisk you away to some fantastical world...I always come out of the theatre wishing I could be transported to some place where witches and wizards and fire demons were...become the heroine of some epic tale.
I'm not a crazy fangirl, really, I'm not! I just...feel like there's got to be something magic in this world.
Maybe someday...^_^

Saiyuki and such
I've been on a big Saiyuki kick lately...re-reading the manga for the third time in a few weeks. It's very rare that a manga series has both aesthetic and plot appeal. The characters are so well-developed and Minekura has managed to create a depth to the story using those characters that I think many other manga series lack.
Another reason why I'm re-reading it is because I've come to the conclusion that there's something more between Gojyo and Hakkai than the series lets on. I know, I know, the same can be said of any number of pairings in the series..I've heard Saiyuki described as "the most slashable non-slash manga". But I honestly believe Minekura is hinting at something more between Gojyo and Hakkai. Just simple glances, or interactions. They're great friends, obviously, but I just can't help seeing something more.
And I think it's sweet, gosh darn it.
Saiyuki is awesome.

Hmm.
I'd fallen out of the anime loop for about a year and a half...There didn't seem to be anything worth spending money on. Now, all of a sudden, there have been several series in a row that have caught my eye and roped me in. I've never been one to do straight fanart, but each one of the shows I watch now has further influenced my style, and that makes me happy. I'm leaning more toward manga anyway...
So here's hoping anime continues to improve, and we keep getting series like Fullmetal Alchemist and Samurai Champloo over here.
...What I'd reeeeeally like to see is the manga MARS made into an anime. I would buy it in a heartbeat.
